Correct. China was under Mongol rule for a hundred years during Yuan dynasty (Khublai Khan). He moved the capital to Beijing and created innovations like civil service reform and paper currency. Of course the last dynasty, Qing, was completely under Manchu rule based out of Beijing. These factors have had tremendous impact on Beijing dialect.
Hi. This is a great video. May I suggest to lower the background music and it will be better to use instrumental music. This due to both with oral sound (from music & interview) at times is confusing /distracting. Great effort👍
Very interesting. Actually, the "er" sound bothers me a lot, but one day, I will go to Beijing to confront my own prejudice. I like where they describe old Beijingers as very friendly due to having to live close together. That's a nice dynamic.
They sound super Beijing. I can immediately tell if someone is from Beijing by the way they speak because they all sound just like this, they all sound like they come from a rich family and so posh sounding.

Nope, there is almost NO Manchu or Mongolian word in Beijing dialect.

哈哈哈,北京话现在年轻人说得确实少了。还有些年轻人喜欢去模仿但是要刻意拿着劲儿说,听起也不太地道。
