- Testing best in class Pulsar Helion 2 XP50 Pro against the smaller and lighter Pulsar Axion 2 XG35 both with 640 thermal chip units agains each other was a must to do. The Axion has the vs. 2 firmware installed. The Axion has the smoothing filter off in the beginning and on in the end. You can always finetune these devices to get the best image out of them, but I believe this is af fair comparison. The XP chip has more detail and is overall stronger chip, while it needs bigger housing. The XG does a very good job considering the unit size. Though the specs look similar in some ways, the mk is very different. 25 vs 40. This has alot to do with the detail. The Helion 17 µm vs 12 µm in the Axion also makes a big difference. The conditions where light rain, and the red deer where wet.
The little axion is such an impressive unit !! Considering all factors it’s a great alternative
I agree!!! The Axion 2 XG has got some turbo powers after the firmware update
@@jonrunargudjons sure looks it mate
@@jonrunargudjons was this video taken with the new firmware in the axion?
@@eadc888 firmware 2.0.0
Thanks for the vid, currently deciding between both scanners for hunting but leaning more towards the axion due to its mobility and range finder. Which would you recommend?
All of them. It all depends on usage and budget
How is zoom comparison? Does XG have slight advantages in that category?
I havent really worked that much with the zoom on the Helion. But it feels like with the Axion new firmware there is more software enhancments that give a smoother zoom. A good question to make test on 👍
The Helion looks a sharper picture to me.
It is sharper. Bigger lens, bigger processor, lower mK. 50 lens vs 35. Xp vs Xg. 25mK vs 40mk
That Stag has an impressive unit! He harder than a Chevrolet rock!
Helion 2.5х-20x Variable Magnification is optic or digital zoom?
Digital
Which one would be better for hiking at night?
The Axion is much smaller in formfactor. For hiking I would almost always choose the Axion over Helion. For human search I would choose the Helion given its bigger lens and sharper overall image
@@jonrunargudjons thanks for reply, how do they perform close up say less that one meter?
@@jonrunargudjons also curious about the FOV at 3 meters
@@jpod73 well I havent tried. They are not made for macro photography. I think you actually cant get the focus on so short distance🤷♂️
@@jpod73 fov is always calculated from the lens/device. I am not shure if I understand the question🤷♂️
at what distance were you observing?
its long time ago, so I dont remember exactly. But I think that it was down to 40-50 meters and up to 70-80 meters
How much is the helicon?
