Nothing like bar hopping on the Babylon track. Any islander with knowledge of all tracks knows that the most bars are along the Babylon and Long Beach tracks. South shore done right. FROM RVC to Babylon, almost ever stop is by a Main Street or village. Beers to be drank! Then eat on the train and hit the next town.
very great video. my daughter will be coming in from GA thru JFK Airtrain to LIRR and this will help her not get lost at Jamaica Station. thank you for making this.
Excellent job ; very nice . You have good eye for architectural juxtapositions. Foliage , billboards , anything that would catch an alert. ,observant eye.
much better looking new trains I like the way the insides of the trains look I.m very impressed I just hope that the conductors are on their A game by collecting the tickets faster this time and not be slow like in the past
Do you think you'll be able to ride from Pitsburgh? I would like to know if it or another train goes from Pittsburgh to Elwood City? That's where Holy Transfiguration Women's Monastery is, and I'd like to return there one day. I live in Atlanta, Georgia, so I'd have to plan for a long train trip, but it'll be worth it if I can get there. I've flown before, but I wonder if it's less expensive to go by train? Anyway, I just love your videos, and I'm so glad you get to ride a variety of trains. Oh, and Holy Transfiguration is an Eastern Orthodox Christian Monastery, in case you wondered. Thank you so much for these wonderful vids
I’ve ridden a train on the Babylon branch on a school field trip I started at massapequa park then we stopped at Rockville Centre to pick up another school and then we went straight to penn station and saw the Cirque De Soleil play
Had my buddy visiting from Seattle and I made him slam a beer with me on the train out of Babylon!! Told him it's the official Long Island rite of passage!!
Ok thx I was just watching your Harlem line video before you answered me back. I really like your good shots of all the scenery. Btw did you get a bit annoyed after that conductor said first two cars for Melerose 100 times.
+Gabriel Lampert I agree. However those information could be extremly useful for some passangers. For instanse, sometimes I took seat in wrong car and then sprint through consist toward platform :)
Thanks for making this Piece.I always had this fantacy to see what kind of Train system America have. But by watching this Video there is not much difference, the American Tracks & the Train system you guys have. Here in INDIA we have quite same. But our Tracks are somewhat dirty. At what speed this train is going?
Lol You Either Ignored That MTA Staff That Took A Picture Of You At The 1:30 Timeframe Or You Were Just Focused On Your Camera. Either Way, Nice Video!!! I Always Ignore The Staff That Say "Why You Filming That" Or Something. Oh Well.
+Raymond Cho Actually I didn't have any trouble with MTA staff. They are usually very friendly. In contrast, NJT, METRA and especially PATH staff prohibited me from filming a few times, so I was very cautious there.
Sergei Gaidukov Oh, The MTA Staff Are Friendly, Especially The Train Operators, Well Several Plenty Of Them. But, There Is A Downside When It Comes To Some Workers That Don't Operate The Train And Or Conduct The Train. PATH Has It In The Rules And Regulations That PANYNJ (Port Authority Of New York And New Jersey) That Photography Of Any Sort Is Prohibited On Their Property. But, I Take Pictures When PATH Has No Staff Around, Or Otherwise, It's Leaving The Camera On While Strapped Around My Neck. A Lens Hood Also Aids In Making The Camera Lens Appear That They Are Covered By The Lens Hood. NJT And METRA Have A Few Staff That Are Mean. But, The Friendly Ones Could Be The Ones That Blow A Hornshow.
+Gabriel Lampert Sorry, I was thinking about Harlem :) As for Babylon branch, I don't remember any crossing. The line is separated and most of stations are elevated.
+Gabriel Lampert It seems to me that Harlem line is fully grade separated between GC and White Planes. Hower, there are plenty of grade crossings beyond White Planes. There was even notorious train crash next to Valhalla in February 3, 2015.
I.m very impressed with the new and improved stations that have the new future technology and knowing that ticket clerks will be obsolete and that they will be replaced by machines
Maureen's knowing by Madison square garden you gave the free ride to monkey matron by zoologist with her children for your onesie family acknowledgement
+Gabriel Lampert I have plans to visit Ronkonkoma and Sayville. However I currently live in Russia and travelling to USA have become extremly expensive due financial crysis. So I could postone those train rides till next year.
Leave it alone. NOT everything " new&improved" is better. I would like to see STEAM ENGINES come back to the RAILROAD.. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE OLD PENN STATION COME BACK . WHAT A MISTAKE TO DESTROY SUCH A WORK OF ART !!!!!!!!!!
Actually I only did a round trip to Babylon and back. I arrived to NYC hotel too early, and my room was not ready. So I decided to investigate LIRR system, and then move in to hotel :)
1:05:58 Why don't new yorkers like Westfields? Being Aussie, does this hurt their pride?
