daaaamn, I finally got the reference on "and you're not"...
35:20 -> When the King would be on c6, he could play d5. Then both sides have a protected passed pawn. This is normally a draw. The question is, if the white king can run to f3 to prepare g4 with h3. When the king is on f3, the black king can be on a5 and black can play c4 creating the passer. bxc4 dxc4 wins for black (gets a3 and holds c4 or king gets to b2). That means c4 has to be answered with b4. ... Ka4, Ke2 heading for c1, otherwise black wins mostly starting with c3 I think.
This means the black position is only bad because of the misplaced king with zugzwang?
That Ukraine comment aged well 💀
“The Ukraine” 😬
The truth hurts
One word: Seinfeld
He knows who is top dog.
@@threegon It was always referred to as "the Ukraine" during Soviet days, so it's the name that people of Ben's age are used to. By the time this lecture was recorded, "Ukraine" had been the preferred name for over 25 years but people weren't talking about Ukraine a lot, so it was easy to slip up if you were used to "the".
Boleslavsky pawn structure
Boleslavsky with a positive game history versus Tal. That’s a small list of players
Couldn't be Fischer (cuz Tal kept crushing Fischer when Fischer was 16 years old)
