I cried the whole show I guess because I can relate to your daughter. As a singer I too have fear, worry and anxiety. Listening to the podcast motivated me to pick up my gift and start singing. “It’s not that DEEP”.

Mel the elevator scream was not the only thing powerful. You being there, accepting her as was, and allowing her to scream is huge. You showed her she was loved and accepted. I grew up with unemotional parents I have lost it like your daughter but instead of love I received shame. I am so proud of you for being there for your daughter to allow her to express her emotions without judgement!

I’ve been sitting in the Costco parking lit for 45 minutes unable to stop watching or stop the tears - what an inspiration. The gift of recognizing the emotional state of another - whether your Mel or Leanne - and reacting with grace and with kindness and then there’s the “leaning in.” Those were my take aways. And in kind of an opposite way - they felt kinda deep. Maybe that’s the point - deep is were the love is. Everything else - not so much. Sncere love to you for sharing your incredible experience. I’m so inspired.

“It’s not that deep”! Awesome! Yes, we spiral 🌀 into our negative emotions, stress skyrockets, & mental paralysis overwhelms us. DEEP breathing exercises are my remedy, then writing down a step by step process to move forward. Thanks for this insight!

Loved that too. ☺️ Especially because it feels like drowning in situations when you are spiralling. I can picture someone in a creek thinking they are drowning when all they have to do is realize they can stand up and be fine. And people are yelling from the side. It's not that deep. ❤❤❤

I think the real truth of the matter is in these situations we stay out of it - eyes off of them! - and completely “just let them.“. “Just let them.”
This is not about us in these situations. If we are “confused,” that is on us. At that point, it’s for us to go inward and ask our self the question “what’s in this for me that I am driving this so hard?” Yes, of course, we want what’s best for the people we love, but only those people know in any given moment what is best for them - and it is their journey to figure out what that is

OMG! Just saw this podcast right now. When my mom was dying I’d sit in my car and scream as loud as I could and few times before I’d go in to sit with her everyday so I wouldn’t cry and be there for her so her passing would be peaceful for her. It helped. Seeing this just over 3 months later it makes me laugh.

  • @findingaway5512
    @findingaway5512 2 місяці тому +3

Love the scream story. Another great thing is laughing! There are actually laugh therapists.... Or something like that. They do laugh exercises and even if you fake laugh it tricks your brain and turns into real laughing. 😂 I love laughing to get me out of a funk or stressed state. In case someone needs a less emergency situation inducing option. 😜

Beautiful episode Mel… Mother daughter relationships are delicate , fragile and precious. My singer daughter and I went through similar experiences, and I cherish everytime I was in the audience. She went onto do other things ..in a big way! I think because she had a vision, because I learned to be the sounding board. May you continue to be an active participant in your daughter’s world…it’s one of the best feelings. She sang so beautifully, I feel your absolute pride.

Oh I have given myself permission to let it rip! But I had to give my sister a warning to get out of the parked car because I was about to let the hot radiator cap spray from screaming, (just a metaphor)! She said she is not getting out of the car, I said okay! And I let it Rip!! She got scared and finally jumped out of the parked car and I continued to scream for a while until nothing was left.
My sister said I didn't know you were going to go crazy! Years later, I laugh now because I tried to save her from the piercing power of a primal scream, I hurt her ear drums. Powerful release, so happy for Kendall!❤

To me everything goes so slow and I see it too far to get to my goal. On the other hand, it’s too hard to get emotional support from your own family. When I am feeling down they drain me even more when I share my feelings. They’re nagging me or comparing or sometimes looking down on me not succeeding.

The emotions I felt with this story were indescribable! From relating to the feelings you felt as a mom to the feelings of fear your daughter felt. What an incredible story with such wonderful lessons!
I need to remember for myself and for my children, “it’s not that deep”! Thank you Mel! You’re a gift to us all!

As always this episode is incredibly helpful. I recognize my frustrations with my strong desire to help. Also, the annoyance of people asking me questions when I am stressed about a new situation. Your podcasts help me and also help with my relationships. I scream when I am alone in the car. It does allow you to feel better. I always laugh at myself afterward. Such a beautiful singer. Thank you both! Being in the moment is always more important.

Mel I am currently on freeze mode towards my goals. This testament has truly come in at the right time. I prayed to god for help and here you are. I didn’t feel like listening at the beginning of the episode because I don’t feel like doing the right thing right now. I feel like my own worst enemy right now. I feel sad instead of frustrated. This is having me in a victim state mindset, like girl move! Go study get ahead of it all. Thank you Mel for being you and doing the what you do. I do the scream sometimes, but it’s more like a loud Stop it! And it truly does create a shift in my mood and focus. It’s great!

Wooooowww!!! That was a truly beautiful performance by your daughter. And on top of that, you’ve given me so much to think about regarding my own daughter’s dreams and how to support them. Amazing episode.

As a proud mother of a talented videography/photographer daughter I felt this episode so hard! She actually taught ME when to put the camera down. Nothing better than moments like this! Thank you Mel for a good cry and an amazing heart warming episode. Now I need to call my daughter and tell her I love her and how proud I am of her! ❤
