    This is such a timely subject to be discussed. Sadly walking through church discipline with a close brother of mine. This is definitely confirmation to continue speaking the truth in love and remaining biblical during this trying time. Prayers are appreciated!

    There is unchecked sin in every church today. How does any of this apply today??? We are all sinful and act on our sinful nature every second of every day. All of us!!! So we should all be put out right? I don’t understand this 😫

    • @jeffgccsatx
      @jeffgccsatx 3 роки тому

      @J Mitch: I didn't have time to address this question in the video so allow me to do it now.
      I guess I'd have to ask this: why wouldn't it apply today? Why would it be preserved along with Jesus' words in Matthew 18 concerning discipline if it had no relevance for God's people throughout this age? The issue in those passages is not the imperfection of God's people in this age - it's the matter of ongoing, unrepentant sin. We have the passage in Romans 16 that tells us to avoid divisive people - causing division is grounds for discipline. 2 Thessalonians 3:14 tells us to not have anything to do with lazy Christians who won't work. Titus 3 tells us to reject divisive people after two warnings.
      I guess I'd also have to question the statement concerning acting "on our sinful nature every second of every day." Is that what the walking in "newness of life" of Romans 6 looks like? Is that what being a slave of righteousness as opposed to a slave of sin (also Romans 6) looks like. Is that what making our calling and election sure (2 Peter 1:1) looks like? Is that what mortifying the deeds of the flesh by the Spirit (Rom. 8:13) looks like?
      The issue is twofold: 1) The purity of God's people, and 2) the salvation of the person involved. I think the video covered 1) sufficiently but let's look at 2). The matter at hand is whether or not such a person is truly converted. That's why there's the representative list of sins in 1 Cor. 5:11 - Paul's point is that if a person can be categorized by such things, they're not born again, which is also his point in chapter six, verses nine and ten as he contrasts what the Corinthians were versus what they now are. Men such as the one in 1 Corinthians 5 may well be displaying the fact that they are not converted... and turning the man over to Satan is the means by which the Lord desires to be used to see that the man is ultimately saved.
      There are a couple of reasons why churches don't implement church discipline. First, "love covers a multitude of sins." Does it? Sure. But that passage is just as true as the church discipline passages, isn't it? Our responsibility is to obey both types. Second, an inappropriate application of Matthew 7:1: "Judge not, that you be not judged." Matthew 7:1 does not rule out all "judging," but it rules out wrong judging. If you just keep reading, within a few sentences Jesus is charging people with doing acts of judging in verse 6. We have clear commands to judge in 1 Corinthians 5:12, and in John 7:24, where Jesus says we are to "judge with right judgment."
      Yes, we are still all being perfected, as Paul says about himself in Philippians 3:21. But we are not all displaying lives characterized by sin - are we? It's that life characterized by sin which is being spoken about in these passages. Thanks.

    I wonder is someone can help advise me. 13 years ago, In rebellion, I committed adultery against my abusive ex husband, (which is not a good reason to commit adultery) and I ended up getting married to the man. we have two little children and I’ve been married now 11 years. I got serious about the Lord about 2017. It wasn’t until then I really grasped how gross a sin I dragged this man into with me. I was very lost and in a dark hopeless place when I was married to my first husband . But I have surely trampled the blood of Christ as I was a “Christian” when I commuted adultery . So now for the past four years, I am rightfully terrified I’m not able to repent from this sin because I am still married to him. I’ve told my old pastor/mentor what Ive done. He thinks I should stay married. And I want to remain married as I love my family. But I constantly worry now that I can’t be redeemed. I wonder if I should be turned over to satan. I deserve every bad thing that happens to me.

      @S Elaine: While what you did indeed was sin, as far as the way I see the Bible speaking, it is not unforgivable. Hebrews 6 and Hebrews 10 are not speaking about sins such as the nature of what you have done. Those passages are about a heart that has hardened itself so that it will never desire to come back. God is merciful. He did not cast aside King David for not only committing adultery, but arranging the killing of the woman with whom he had adultery and then marrying her. God's mercy and grace are not licenses to sin, of course, but if Paul can turn men over to Satan in order that they learn to not blaspheme (1 Tim. 1:20) which necessitates those men being able to be restored once they learn their lesson... if Peter can be so hypocritical that the Spirit has preserved Peter's (and Barnabas's) hypocrisy in the pages of Scripture (Galatians 2) but Peter has been forgiven - you can be forgiven.

      Good afternoon Elaine! May the Lord our Father God almighty bless you and your family. After reading your testimony and concerns about salvation of your soul, I would like to give you my sole opinion, referring the word of God(The bible, for such purpose). Though salvation is given by Jesus Christ alone, and the final verdict will be given by him only and no one else. I believe that your concern about marrying, leaving your previous husband, and remarry a new man, is a very serious matter, before our beloved Lord Jesus Christ. But the conviction of sin is deeply affecting your relationship with God and fear has controlled your life, and is getting against the wall and the sword. I tell you this scripture today: MATTHEW 12:30-32 30 “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. 31 And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. 32 Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come. I would recommend you to begin a fasting time, reserved for prayer and to ask the Lord for an answer, so He can direct you to the right decision that you would be taking; first to heal your soul of fear, next to have a total restoration in your heart, so you may totally believe that Jesus has already forgiven you, and your sin has been already forgiven(between you and the Lord, you have to truly repent before him). Wait for a sign from God, revealed by the Holy Spirit. Now I tell you that your husband has to do the same! 1JOHN 2-1-2 My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father-Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 2 He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. Keep on praying 🙏 and let the light shine upon you and your family. God is great!!! And only Jesus Christ has the right answer to all your questions, through prayer, and guidance by the precious Holy Spirit!!!🙏

      @@ewilliam2432 I appreciate you taking the time to help me. I’ve been thinking about fasting as well. Fear does take over. I know only the Lord has the answer, but that fear takes over and I question if I’m deceiving myself that I’m repenting correctly. Thank you again.

      I, too, committed adultery. What you did was terrible. Return to your (first) husband. Or at least stop living in the state of adultery for you are exactly as the man spoken about in the video. He surely professed to love his wife (who was his father's wife). But it is an evil "love", an disorderly adulterous " love". It may be very very hard, but you have to cut off the adultery. But you may be on the right path because you have realized you are in sin. That is a great grace! Most do not.

    This chapter and verse is involved, completely destroy the modern-day once saved always saved Doctrine, when they believe that no matter how you live or what you do or even if you forsake the Lord, you are once saved always saved. If that were the case, this man would not have needed to be delivered to Satan that His Spirit might be saved

    • @LawlessNate
      @LawlessNate 3 роки тому +1

      I'm not necessarily defending the position, but this verse doesn't do away with the concept. This passage suggests that the man in question was called a brother, but it says nothing about whether or not he was a genuine Christian or just a false convert. Remember that "once saved always saved" doesn't mean that once someone is saved that then they can live a life of sin while maintaining salvation; the position is that someone who eventually ends up in a life devoted to sin was never truly saved to begin with.

    • @jeffgccsatx
      @jeffgccsatx 3 роки тому +1

      @@LawlessNate Thanks for commenting, but there is a view of "once saved, always saved" which does state that very thing - that "once someone is saved that then they can live a life of sin while maintaining salvation." That view is presented quite clearly in Charles Stanley's book, "Eternal Security." I only own that book in order to show people that there is such a view out there because people don't believe that anyone really believes that. We do NOT hold to Dr. Stanley's view. Thanks.

      @@jeffgccsatx Gospels Live didn't specify what he meant by "once saved always saved". Due to the lack of clarification, his statement implies that any form, including it's 'best' representation, is invalidated by the verse in question.
      When debating against a position, it's good practice to accurately represent the very best form of said position and present your reasoning against that. The version of "once saved always saved" you're referring to is obviously untrue by any reasonable reading of scripture. The best representation of "once saved always saved" is a legitimate theological position rather than an excuse to sin, and it's not so easily dismissed as to quote one passage of scripture.

      I know my answer is way too late - but - I can't help thinking that Jesus called us to LOVE EVERYONE, including our enemies! Any opportunity we have to show the Love of Jesus is a good thing - no matter what 'group' they're with - Catholic or 'other' - we are to do what Jesus told us to do - and I don't see Him telling us to stay away from any place that His Love needs to be shown, which is EVERYWHERE. Jesus went everywhere... Don't believe the lies from hell.

      @@auntiemsplace Hi. I get where your coming from however we cannot love what is wrong and compromise God word. In my case I wouldn’t attend a mass however I would attend a gathering afterwards to help those who are grieving and share Gods word there. I hope this helps you understand.

      @@Becomingless Thanks for trying to explain it. We don't love WHAT is 'wrong' - but we are to love the 'who' that is practicing the error, Jesus died for them too. I think this has to do with individual, personal conviction as far as going to an event with 'religious' overtones. If I were presented with that situation, the rituals of the mass would have no impact, so I wouldn't have a problem attending. Most funerals are about honoring the deceased and showing support for the grieving. Sounds like you have your ground covered - we are to be convinced in our own heart. A funeral is probably not always the best place to share the gospel anyway (but we are to be ready, wherever we are, nevertheless).

    No mention or referral back to the book of Leviticus where in chapter 16 we read of the goat given over to 'Azazel'..... in the offering of the two goats we see one that is brought before YHVH and the other symbolically has the sins of Israel placed on it and is given over to 'Azazel'. Too much 'church' has lost it's ability to do as the Bereans did, and refer to scripture (as they knew it) to see if it were true. I suggest very strongly that Christians put on fresh glasses, forget most of what they have been told and read the foundations of scripture all over..... but hey, that is not likely to happen except with a remnant who have learned to question everything - Go home and read your bible.

    Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
    Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning (GENESIS), and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
