"Bei Mir Bist Du Schön" is a fresh track from our album, “Patron Saint Django.” This piece seamlessly merges Gypsy Jazz and big band Swing for a sound that's uniquely ours. Shot by the best filmmakers in Utah, this video takes you on a visual journey as captivating as the music itself. It's more than just a music video - it's an experience that transports you to a world where music and emotion intertwine.
We have an awesome new album coming out that is packed full of great swing from the HHW Swing Orchestra. We'll release the album digitally on September 8th, 2023, so stay tuned!

A great song with quite a history. Originally a Yiddish song "Bei Mir Bistu Shein" (to me you're beautiful). The name changed to "Bay Mir Bistu Sheyn" when used in a musical in 1932. The name changed again to the German flavor with the Andrews Sisters 1937 hit and now known as "Bei mir bist du schön" as in the video title. It's really a Yiddish folk song that works very well in a jazz environment.
The song has a fascinating history and a great tradition in swing music. We’re excited to share our version!

Nothing changed. Yiddish is written in the Hebrew script, so any transliteration into the Latin alphabet is not the REAL name, but an approximation. "Bei Mir Bistu Shein" is an accurate transliteration, as it accurately conveys the pronunciation of the Yiddish. "Bay Mir Bistu Sheyn" is simply the sort of mistake you would expect from an American who can't speak Yiddish. "Bei mir bist du schön" is just wrong: it's German, not Yiddish, and the pronunciation of the last word is totally different. What MATTERS is how it is sung, and that is most correctly reflected by "Bei Mir Bistu Shein."

@@DieFlabbergast Well they certainly are not pronouncing it as a German "schön" with a dipthong vowel but rather more like "shane" which I hope sounds more like Yiddish. "Shane" does rhyme with "explain" anyway, so that makes sense. "Shein" is only a phonetic spelling in German or Yiddish. I don't see any problem with spelling it German as Yiddish is just a German dialect, anyway, but I admit, I had to read through the comments to find out if there was any explaination of that pronunciation and yes there is. Cool. Love comments.
