I love these horror movies that are not the scary type, but the "makes you get the chills" type. There's a tiny but important difference between: one is only made of jumpscares, futiles stuff to make you scream; the other one makes you FEEL. Feeling is an important point horror movies' been missing these days. Nice work! I always look forward to this channel and I'm cheering on Rob from now on!
🖤
I feel you. The Descent movie is an example of that. There is a substance to its story. Not all about stupid jumpscare. It is about how a strong bond of friendship was put into a big test. I reall really love it.
Jumpscares are not "futiles good maybe yes but after all there are part of the negatif human IQ totally idiot so much then futiles but even that i totally agree, this is real art we feel the horror in real by realstuff yes are realy good! Before know this channel i wasn't interrested by horror movie stuff, not now for reasons :)
I agree! I saw the short film “Slut” & I freaking loved it!!! I saw it randomly a long while back. I really dug it. Last night I legit felt like I hit the jackpot. I randomly saw the short film again in my recommended, & it looked familiar, so I watched it again...& of course remembered it. Then saw there was an entire channel! I couldn’t subscribe fast 💨 enough. I binge watched ALTER shorts until approx 4am! 🤣 I’m officially addicted! ✌️
Jumpscares are a breach of trust between the director and the viewers, when they use the jumpscare they rape the audience's mind, it should be outlawed.
the horror is that you have to go back to work
lol.
this makes so much sense

Lmao
Cubs: But, Mommy, can't we eat her?
😁😁😁
But who took her photos
Hahaha 🧸😂
As soon as I realized she was going camping alone I was like....WHY
Yup.. That's a recipe for disaster right there.. Going alone camping, in the woods, not a great idea, but interesting for us, viewers..
I've only done that twice. Usually keep a trigger or two around my camp site before going to sleep and check on them again cause you never know. Also keep a 9mm or riffle at hand (pistol is much faster to deploy imo). Why ppl do this well. For it's the thrill of it i guess
She was with a Camera Team everything‘s fine😂😂
Godfrey Jemand wtf are you talking about
Well..she didnt..she did had company who took pictures of her :)
I hate in movies when folks just find these beautiful secluded places to be alone. Literally every time I've tried that in real life, it's just non-stop bumping into campers, hikers, boaters, fishers, hunters, birdwatchers, wandering idiots, forest rangers, park patrol, fish and wildlife officers. You name it.
The point being made here is you are never alone. Even when you think you are alone, there could be someone watching you.
you are never alone ON LAND. shhhhh lol every misanthrope and/or sailor/ pilot knows this 😭
Even if someone is not watching you, something may.
We're never ALONE . I guess that's the moral of the story. Even when we think we have escaped we haven't.
Jonatham,is that not a pity? That we can(maybe) never be alone...a shame.
I'm never alone either, esp in the woods. I take my friend Beretta wherever I go. That girl is a trip. Loud & in charge. She's always bangin. Anyone who's thinking about going anywhere alone should always bring a friend like her...
I like that.
I'm all for alone time, but I will never go camping and swim in the lake alone.

Me too! I love my alone time, but never for camping.

That was good Rod, well done
Nice work. Subtle, but creepy.
That was the worst ALTER video... sorry, not sorry.
Someone said this already, but you look at 2:17 and 3:01, you can see the same guy conveniently sidestepping onto the train after she boards and walking behind her as soon as she crosses the street. That body language screams ‘stalker’ because he’s looking all the time in her direction.
Psychological horror is right, as in you need to watch this again to notice those details. I would’ve been scared if I found out someone had taken a picture of my sleeping like that.
Or... you know, just pay attention the first time. It's not that subtle. The thing about almost all short movies is that all the details matter. They don't have as much time as actual movies to tell the story, so they have to cram all details that connect all the dots of the story into a shorter timespan, making them much more obvious for the audience to see.
Especially in a horror movie, when you're actively looking for anything out of the ordinary or creepy. With a horror movie, the trick is not to look at the main character, but what goes on around the main character. Horror movies love to slip details into the background and people often miss them the first time around, because they have a habit of looking at the main character or whatever the main focus of the camera is, rather then what is going on in the background. In this particular movie, it was actually pretty obvious. To me, at least but to be fair, I watch and study a lot of movies (as a hobby, not professionally), so I tend to notice those things.
Xylarxcode Yeah, I’m not a critic, so I focus on the main character and not background detail the first time.
Not the same guy. Diff colored pants and overcoat. One has blonde hair, the other dark brown.
Not the same guy.
Justin Williams why would you need to watch it again to see these details. They literally throw them in your face and frame the shots around them 😂
Additional note, different people. Okay, maybe you do need to watch multiple times lol.
She's definitely the type who enjoys being alone ALL THE TIME, you can see she's a loner even in her everyday life in the city but didn't realize that she's not so alone with two different creeps stalking her and possibly a third one who took pictures of her in the woods. I think the moral is no matter how much you seclude yourself, you can always be a magnet for creepy stalkers.
Wasn't that the same guy stalking her?
Unless you can repel them
@@mantonythe1st yes. He was the same guy looking at here at the subway station and same guy walking on the street behind her.
I wouldn't exactly call that a "Moral of the story"
The moral is go out and talk to people so you don't develop fear towards men and subsequently post sexist crap on the internet

The person who took her pictures are not either of the men whom people think are stalking her. The person who took her picture is probably someone living in the woods or the person whom she told she was going camping. The enemy is always closer than we think.
Exactly, it's either the guy on the jeep at 4:45 or the cashier lady at 4:55 xD they knew where she was going!
I think that one who is at the subway station.
Oops... someone got pregnant.
@@N73B60 what's that supposed to mean?
@@ajl2232 someone was there... so she may have been drugged and raped. And maybe she got pregnant.
The synopsis says: "What happened next will haunt her for the rest of her life"... this suggests a great change in her life. So pregnancy is a possibility.
There are homeless people who live in wilderness areas year-round. Parks, watershed areas, etc. And they know the place better than you do.
I bet the ones who took the pics are those crazy stalkers that were following and staring at her, we can see them at 3:02 and 2:17
That's a very good guess (catch).
Yeah! He caught my eye in the subway. He kept looking at her, then slipped into the same compartment as her after she boarded.
A woman must have made this comment. Typical.
Ducky Kittn Dude in the subway was looking at the train. I do the same thing. Comments like this reveal unspoken characteristics about people. Do you cross the street if a black man is walking towards you, too?
@ZommBleed the fact that I’m a guy reveals unspoken characteristics about you. Plus why are you getting so triggered when it’s just a short film, obviously they are going to drop some hints to give some sense to the vid... if that’s your reaction to a comment you disagree with I can’t even imagine how you handle serious life situations.
This is horror because it can be real. I found it a bit disturbing as well.

Hello bebbarma. Are you from Burma Myanmar ?
I absolutely love alone time, seeing a movie, going for a long drive... but I am way too chicken to go CAMPING out in the middle of nowhere on my own. Lol
Ditto everything you said. I love camping and I am a 6'3" 240 lb fit man, experienced in self defense and the use of weapons (own a few rifles, a shotgun, and one semi auto pistol...at least one of which never leave my reach while camping). I am always situationally aware of my surroundings in either urban or wilderness environments. AND I WOULD NEVER CAMP ALONE unless I had to!!! OK, maybe in my back yard with my 10 year old daughter. a few times I have even set up low trip fishing line a few feet in front of my tent entrance with a bell or can attached discretely and camoflauged at the ends. I don't like surprises and I don't want to kill an innocent person either. You are not chicken, its just common sense. I can attest that some of the craziest, creepiest people I have ever run in to occurred in the middle of nowhere.
For some people, it's a great time 🤠
She wasn't Alone, she was with the Camera mans. 😂😂

well, they were not part of the story.
I like that this wasn’t oversaturated with jump scares, gore, or high tension! It was beautifully shot, and is also more of a reality based horror story people can actually experience.
Woulda been better built as a "Secret Life of Walter Mitty" type narrative tbh. Too bad they threw away their world building to add a little moment of ooh, there was a horny hobo in the woods...
@@avortex1288 what is a "hobo" ?
@@chetbaker83 it's an old fashioned term, but still commonly in use in many regions. It means a transient person (generally male in the historical sense), who finds odd jobs wherever they can (which tend to be short term) and moves on in search of work (or new scenery), while never putting down roots to get established in any one place or community. There can be numerous reasons someone may adopt this lifestyle.

A hobo is a migrant worker in the United States. Hoboes, tramps, and bums are generally regarded as related, but distinct: a hobo travels and is willing to work; a tramp travels, but avoids work if possible; a bum neither travels nor works."

@@inayazahidd I knew how this video was going to end once she bought the cameras. I've heard this story before and it creeped me out the first time. I personally can't confirm it's credibility, but there has to be a grain of truth in it.
I am 3 most of the time
I love how it shows how quiet is a rarity where she is. And I love how the atmosphere is well put together with the loud ambience always playing
For me, this was more psychological horror than anything else, mainly because throughout the film I was waiting for the terror to become apparent. Each time the scene changed, I was like, "Ah, here it is. She's going to be attacked by wolves or bears or something in the night." I mean, such a flimsy looking tent, haha. It wasn't until she came out of the chemist with the photographs in hand that I suspected the real horror. I did see the creepy stalker guys in the city, at the station and especially the one that seemed to suddenly and quickly duck out of the shot at the crossing. But that was, as others have said, perhaps a little too subtle. I would never go into the wild on my own like that, so for her to do that was super brave (or idiotic!) and I kept thinking how well she knew to take care of herself. But, what if...?
I like psychological horror movies. Any recommendations

I know this is supposed to be scary, but all i want to do is go camping at the exact same spot she was at. It looks so relaxing!
I love the transition of the train, the way it travels by, the gray of her life even down to her food, the transition to the healing of green, ohhh, that was good, that ending like a dab of salt, or droplets of the color red, just a thin slice of horror was perfect.

Short Film: _Based on a true story_
Me: *_Starts packing_*
First few minutes you could see that she was being watched/followed (briefly) subway and the intersection stood out then when she actually decided to go camping -which btw seems too risky to enjoy such an adventure in todays world, I suspected something would be in the pictures. This short film was very well done, the actor played her part well, the editing was great and I like how the music progressed. Her realization that someone was in the tent with her while she slept was a great way to end it. My compliments on the actor, her facial expressions and how she looked off camera made it all too believable!
Wow. What a poignant film. No matter where you go, you can never escape horrible humans.
I hate humanity.
Toomany dark shots.
Ok. Im stupid. Was that a pucture someone took of her whilst asleep?
The strange guy who was following her in the train station and on the road, also followed her while camping and he clicked her photos while sleeping.
The horror starts at the end!!!
Thank god he let her go but let that be a lesson for her "NEVER GO CAMPING ALONE".
Did he let her alone?Really?
The ending didn't somehow mean the same.Atleast her facial expressions which had an intense shock depicted that someone was standing right in front of her or she saw something strange right in front of her
I was so happy nothing happened to her on her get away even though I put the video on because I love horror but it conveyed such a feeling of that need for "Alone Time" in such a almost personal way that I didnt want the terror anymore. Lol and wanted her to be ok. So when she made it home I was so happy even though my heart was beating the whole time expecting the worst then the picture ooooo got my horror fix and my happy fix all in one 11min. Video!!! A guy was stalking her on the train station, and also on the street, in the beginning of the film. I always keep an eye on the people around me.
If he was able to take photos of her in the tent, I am thinking he knows her sleeping habits (deep sleeper etc), this means he could be breaking into her house and watching her sleep. The real horror is that no one will believe her story, she would be completely at the mercy of her stalker.
I agree with some of the other comments - this is really beautifully shot, but if your
Totally fair assessment. Thank you for detailing the positive, as well as illustrating what elements might not be so successful. We appreciate any and all feedback as thorough as this.
I wholeheartedly agree on this. The movie was beautifully and professionally shot, but the shocking element was presented too late and to inefficiently. Of course we were expecting someone or something stalking her simply because this was labeled as horror, but the signs that there actually could be someone were too subtle. If the intended genre of the movie wasn't stated, the first ten minutes could easily be mistaken for a really longwinded camping holiday advertisement. Her discovering those special pictures on her camera could have been MUCH more effective if it happened while she was still out there camping alone, not during the comparatively safe train ride back.
my idea was to show the newspaper in that area that a serialkiller is on the run somewhere at the beginning. that there will be this ominous feeling.
I like it how it was. For me personaly is more scary when scare thing start 1 minut before end. If are talking about short movies. When short movie keeps scary vibes ending usually boring me. But not always. It depens on movie.

To have the real sense of horror and dread and just plain good old fashioned fear come at you in the final 20 seconds....wow.
It is interesting to see what caused her to acquire the camera in the first place. At the 5:00 mark, she receives very slow, unresponsive service from the cashier. The time she spends waiting for the cashier to turn around and ring her up causes her to notice the camera and purchase it. The purchase of the camera creates the whole effect of the movie.
Notice the stalker. He’s watched her at the beginning, following her behind the crowd...
I can only imagine what it's like to see pictures of you sleeping while there isn't anyone around for 50 or so miles taken on your disposable camera. Brrr! Excellent short film no pretenses, good plot, surprise ending. 👍
Great work, beautifully filmed,,respects to all involved..
This channel gives us the most one of a kind stories.
So who else assumed the thumbnail pic of her in the water actually had something to do with something. ....then it didnt. At all
Lol.
Meh.. At first but then I realized that this video was made by Alter so..no
Trust ALTER to release a gem that doesn't induce the feeling of the gripping horror until 11:00 minutes in. I'm hooked
Haha SERIOUSLY
I know this is a horror film, but the scenery, wow! 🤩
two places I thought the horror would be. Coming back from swimming and finding the tent destroyed, or when she was looking out at the last with the shot of her back, a hand coming out and grabbing her shoulder. The ending was perfect.
I'm alone as well but I've never gone camping since I'm afraid something creepy happens to me. I can't sleep comfortably.
What’s the song playing when she’s driving to the campsite? It’s so nice
