This is one of the best videos I've seen for new pilots. I had gone through my first week of training, but I was not prepared for the nerves of my first flight day. I was never so scared in my life, my mind racing, my legs were shaking and I was praying hard! Lord please don't let me freeze up and do something stupid. It went a lot easier than I expected, thanks to a good instructor.
Strongly recommend watching this once a day for a week... Can't believe how much I picked up on the 3rd pass, even though I've watched it twice before...
I love the attitude of Kyle O. Out of everyone on UA-cam, he doesn't bash anyone and throws out alot of great videos with teachings of this sport. Kudos to you Kyle. Keep throwing out the videos. 👊🤙👊🪂
Kyle, my first launch was a full power face plant into a Florida red ant nest that covered half the county. I was pile driven into it by 24 hp Fresh Breeze. My 3rd attempt was a prop mutilation by same propeller. If you really knew what I'd been through after 2 years of destroying my psyche & body, you'd remember me in your prayers every night. Self training. It's the pits!
Thank you Kyle, I am one of those guys that needed to hear this simple summary. I am hundreds of mile away from my training center and am dealing with "solo" nerves. I really feel better after this video and can't thank you enough for providing insight to those of us with limited resources. CHEERS!!
I made a rig today that will strengthen my body before I get a wing to practice on. I hurt my back and have atrophy everywhere. I love it because it allows me to learn to turn and weight transfer. It allows me to feel the weights that I will experience with the wing. Plus it allows me to play with my dog.
Best wind streamers are Pilots choice on Ebay professionally made by pilots and effective in 2 + mph and Kyle all your vids are so informative thank you for that , just what new pilots need .
Excellent information. I've watched this video many times. Every spring it's necessary to re-cap this video. It keeps pilots safe and self aware. Thanks again for your awesome content.
Excellent video. I did a good first flight, buy I was shy on the throttle. My brother assisted me in telling me that my wing was ok, but the radio didn t work. Nobody was telling me to squeeze the throttle. Before the flight I said that my only worry was the motor was too powerfull for my taste. It is a VitorazziMonster. As for the instructor thing I agree. The only thing is that were I live the next possible instructor lives 400 km away. And I am already an experienced paraglider pilot, several hundred flights in tens of different places. Thanks a lot. Great video.
So much truth in what you said. Took my first flights last weekend and had an engine out on my second flight. My instructor was keeping me just down wind of the landing and it was no issue. I definitely need to learn more about wind at elevation.
Top shelf material once again, Kyle. Only one downvote when this comment posted... Delton Schanzymanu probably thought the video was too long and got scared away from listening to actual instruction.
Enjoyed the video. I was that guy that had to take a lot of time to gain confidence to fly. Had an instructor tell me I was ready to go up after 4 hours of taining. I ended up practicing another month on my own. I set a goal to reach that I new would make me feel ready. When I reached that goal I called a new excellent instructor who put me in the air. I was glad to see you offer that to beginning pilots.
Love it! I'm signed up for a two week training, got the earliest slot I could but it has been tough to wait! I got an older used paraglider for cheap, and a light freeflight harness, and I have been kiting like crazy. Fun! I would love to see a video about what to do when you're committed to training but have some time to kill. What's worth researching and practicing before training and what should wait? When someone shows up for training with you, what do you like to hear they've practiced and what makes you cringe? Thanks for all the great stuff, keep 'em coming!
Just remember, it's better to be on the ground and looking at the sky than in the sky, well something like that. I like being in the sky! Great (free!!) advice Kyle-O, you are probably saving lives with this video.
One of the best training videos I’ve seen regarding evaluating weather and wind conditions. I would like you to do more videos on weather and wind conditions and what free websites to go to to get the weather information.
By god Kyle, you are a great presenter. It’s obvious you love teaching. You are a natural! I’d love to paramotor, it’s a bucket list item, but if I’m honest with myself, I’m over the hill. I can dream though. Keep up the good work…who knows you may see me one day.
Killer - err, health prolonging video, Kyle! I'm a new pilot who has just completed formal training, and while I have a leg up with my newly acquired skills, I know that with only a handful of flights, I'm at best, a basic level pilot who, for now, needs to stay within that narrow window of conditions you described. I've watched a ton of your videos and have not only learned from them, but also greatly enjoyed them. I look forward to many more!
Thanks for the content Kyle. I am a commercial pilot, and a 10yr+ kitebuggy pilot. I am in the kiting stage with a ppg wing. And I am getting training currently. One big observation watching other fly ppg is the lack of ADM-Aeronautical decision making. It is a key process for a successful and safe aviation career. The preflight MUST include all the subjects you touched upon. We like to say-“the next two things”. What do I have to do next and what after that- directly relates to clipping in, the launch, flight path, exit strategy...I find myself as a ppg newbie sharing these thoughts with already established ppg pilots. Look forward to my first launch. Keep up the great videos
Kyle, thoroughly enjoyed this lesson 👏 you are spot on in your training education. I am a new pilot, only 2 flights but your lessons on importance of wind conditions and proper pre flight thinking are so important. I have added you as one of my favorites I am following on UA-cam. Appreciate your insight. Thanks brother. 👍
Hello KyleO. Wow, what a great "get your feet wet" video. There was so much content there that I probably watch it again. I learn so much from UA-cam and TikTok and yours was exceptional. I want to fly so don't be surprised if I call, but I'll text first. -Ken
Hi Kyle Love your videos. I’m an Airline Pilot with 18000 hours flying and a grand total of 12 hours on my paramotor. 😀👍You always inspire me and help me to learn. I’d love to fly with you one day buddy. Keep it up Sir Cheers Jim
Fantastic video. Lots of good information to think about. Excited to get started in this sport. Start ground school at Lone Star Powermotors near San Antonio in April. Being prepared and knowing how to be safe is the key.
"Self Trainer?" Yeah, that's me. Over the past 18 months I've spent more time in the ER than I have flying.....BUT....I just got a quote from Aviator PPG in Lake Wales. Listen to this! $3,895 - two weeks! TWO WEEKS? I thought that crazy ass Dell was expensive! Told 'em I'll take the ER anyday over that price. V.A. pays for it anyway. Good Gobbly Goo! Hell, I'm 71 & 90% dead anyway.
Great info. I'd love to get into flying someday. I'm a farmer in ND. I'm surrounded by thousands of acres but everything is farmland. What isn't farmland is shitty pasture ground. I always see these beautiful flat grass fields people use as lz's. I don't really have anything like that around me. I'm sure I could find them but ideally I'd like to fly right out of my farm. I'm sure once I get experience and my launches/landings are dialed in I'll realize I have plenty of spots to use.
Really good video Kyle. Hope all your subs pay close attention because a lot of instruction/instructors either forget to cover these points, or just skip over them completely - leading to many nubie problems and expensive equipment repairs.
Been flyin' for 49 years. Retired commercial. Ultralights, crop dusters, bush, skydiving, hell, everything. All good info by Kyle here. But I'd say a bad time to be flying is when you see a tornado coming. Once took off in a Trike ultralight aircraft, flew into a roll cloud, almost had my ass for lunch. Kyle should've covered stupid in his discourse here. I've done plenty of that too, roll cloud being one. Been lucky. Ya'll be careful. You may not be.......lucky!
Kyle, did you ever serve a stretch in Angola? I was flying for Bob Ewing out of New Roads spraying the Angola cotton. I was taking a tour of the prison facilities & I swear I saw a guy who looked just like you, about '93. He could've been your twin if it wasn't you! He was a cook. Did you cook there? Food was not bad. Free too! If you saw where I fly from, you'd croak! First Pine tree arrives at about 450 feet. 500 max.
Did training a couple months ago now it’s time to fly on my own and I do not know any other pilots and my biggest worry is the weather and reading it correctly. Its Very nerve-racking. Thanks for the video Kyle very helpful
As John stated below I would break this video up into shorter one topic vid. Keep them coming back often for the next segment. The next segment in progression to accomplish a goal. Goal covers the steps to make it around the pattern safely. Example Wings, how and what to learn kiting before your first flight, paramotor setup and preflight, As you explained, field requirements, weather, preflight, setup, what's the plan, takeoff, climbout, pattern, landing and postflight.
Awesome Kyle. I appreciate your offer on instruction. I feel it would be an awesome way to go for those self training/kiting individuals. Having someone of your expertise there for backup is priceless!!
Now that's what I'm talking about this is just what the Doctor ordered, this is "exactly" what I'm looking for in a video, total teaching, learned quit a bit thanks keep em coming, love the green screen. I'm a noob and crave the knowledge.
OMG Kyle O', I must admit I do like you uploads but I'm glad your presentation style has evolved as the early ones have more than a touch of cult preacher feel about them albeit full of excellent info & advise. You have so much experience & knowledge to give. Keep up the passion my man. I continue to keep watching you most valuable vids, 👍👍 (BTY - I know this is an old one I've just viewed & I've I'vewatched your recent uploads but this vid just highlighted how you presentation style has changed). Greets from across the pond in UK.
Good video man I just learned and only have 6 flights under my belt. I hit My kill switch on my first flight when getting in my seat but luckily my instructor had me at about 300 ft before I got in my seat.
Such a great video. As a new pilot, I always appreciate your honesty and knowledge. These kinds of tips are so valuable and could potentially save money, hospital visits and even lives.
Great video Kyle, exactly what new flyers need to hear. Having not taken my first flight yet I found your info and experiences reassuring. Keep cracking out the great videos!
Nicely done...as you were saying ,never start motor on the ground ,i bought motor from guy that lost 3 fingers to the prop. another friend started new nirvana instinkt 230 on the ground and it vent full on cut his shoulder and destroed half motor...so pls start it allways on your back..and good idea is first take few small flys without the motor from small hill or tow lesson, just to feel how it is to fly, turn, flair ...and have some one experienced on the phone that will tell you what to do...not like me alone it wasnt much fun ,and it was hard to learn...but it is what it is...:-) Dream Big /Czech rep.
Great tutorial, Kyle. Not just for the noobs but for the seasoned pilots too! Wish this guidance had been around when I first got into PPG. Big Thumbs UP!

Well done!

John and Martha King, eat your heart out! Nicely done, KO.Very nicely done. Taking this time out of your life to help out strangers is amazing.
Best video on paramotoring yet!
I wish you lived closer! Want to come to Utah next month to train my brother and me? 😊
Thanks Kyle!
Wish I lived near you. Around here the plan seems to be learn to glide first (lots of mountains) then add the motor.
Thank you!
Fantastic video. Lots of good information to think about. Excited to get started in this sport. Start ground school at Lone Star Powermotors near San Antonio in April. Being prepared and knowing how to be safe is the key.
Your awesome Kyle O'Glee thanks for shareing ,love your video info hope to fly this year my goal ...Thank You
LOL I love your comment about the people that click the thumbs down icon. "I think they just go there to click it."

Nice Signed hat Kyle. Thank you for sharing this very insightful video. Everyday is a school day.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Fear of comittment was my biggest problem, next to getting in my seat once I was finally up there.
good video, i learned a lot i have been teaching myself i'm not dum to it i have 7 skydives in

I most fervently request a continuation of same 🙂.
This is so valuable for someone like me a pilot in training. Many good things to think about and well worth repeated watching.
Thanks Kyle for your videos. as I’ve just finished my training in Australia. I believe you can Never stop learning. Craig

thanks Kyle, that was awesome, and you come across very honest and candid
Awesome educational video, thanks Kyle O'Glee

Great video and excellent info.
Wow...great video Kyle. That's a very densely packed 30 minutes of great info and advice!...thank you.
Great tutorial, Kyle. Not just for the noobs but for the seasoned pilots too! Wish this guidance had been around when I first got into PPG. Big Thumbs UP!
Love it Kyle! Keep the weather videos coming!
Great video, really like it, 2 flights, it was very helpful, for my next flights, kind regards
Wonderful video. Thank you !!!
Another Great video Kyle!
