Thx. This S2 is not from the latest run that came out this month. It is a Paragon 1. It runs very well and it has been very reliable. It is a very good puller as you can see in the video.
Really excellent scenery and the huge lift bridge is magnificent! A couple of nit-picky points that I anal-retentively can't resist posting: I think the marker lights on the tender should be off when running with a train. Check the rule book. Also, at the beginning, a train doesn't park ready to leave a passenger station with the locomotive adjacent to the main entrance. Should be positioned with cars at the platform for boarding passengers. More info about the layout and locations on the layout would be welcome!
No sweat! I ran with 30 or 31 cars on this layout with 2.5 % max grade. That when I started to have some car derailment issues. But the consist has been tuned to run with more than 25 cars.
@@truebras Mind if I ask you another question, what wheel type for the coach trucks did you use for this particular session and where could I find them?
Good question about trucks. The P70 coaches and variants are either BLI or Alco Models/ Eastern Car Works. In these kits, I replaced the original trucks for Walthers PRR HWT six wheel trucks. Some other cars are kits or brass. For these, I kept the original trucks or replaced with CV trucks. Everything was tuned as whole consist. So, means some of cars did not run fine at beginning. After 3-4 testing days I was able to run this consist very reliable. Walthers trucks you can buy in their site, but is not available every time. CV trucks at ebay or train shows.
SWEET!!! That S2 is such a mammoth locomotive it makes the consist look like N scale - and that bascule bridge is phenomenal
Nice layout and video. Long train. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice. I’ve been waiting for someone to run this locomotive and feature it on a relatively large layout. Much appreciation for making this!
The BLI PRR S2 is a good puller. But replacing the P70 kit car’s trucks with Walthers ones made possible to run this long train thru whole layout.
cool locomtive
I counted 25 cars! Now, that’s a passenger consist of old! I would love to see Amfleet, Viewliner, Horizon and Superliner consists of that size!
Sorry, I am not a fan of Amtrak material with only two exceptions. So, you won’t see the cars that you pointed out.
@@truebrasThat’s cool. I meant, in general. In actual Amtrak operation. Love this video.
PRR had some very different engines.
I wonder if we could even build a steam engine now .
25 cars? Wow!
😎
Wish I could see the c&o turbine with this kind of lashup
Where is this incredible layout!?

Longest train the real S2 pulled was 17 cars at 110 mph with a Dynaometer meter car in March of 1945.
Question, what rail gauge was this on and how was it able to pull all those passenger coaches?
HO. BLI S2 Hybrid has traction tires and the consist is well tuned. That is all 😜.
