For English, you dont really need to sound like native speaker. The point of language is to be able to convey message and the intended receiver able to understand it. You have accent when speaking English? Doesn't matter as long as your pronunciation is accurate or at least clear enough. The idea of the need to sound like English person or American is a myth. In fact, it can demotivate a learner very easily.
It honestly depends on your goal. Every language has its own literature which would be difficult to understand/appreciate with moderate level of english
It's pretty common for Chinese students to just start talking to each other in Chinese even when they are with friends from other races. It's pretty rude, and I don't really like it when my friends do it either (I can speak Mandarin myself, but we still have friends who can't).
whenever i am with anyone who isn't fluent in mandarin, i automatically switch to english or bahasa. but there was a funny episode, one malay friend hang out with us in a cafe, and there are 2 Taiwanese friends present too, we were having intense board game, and Taiwanese friend forgot he doesn't speak mandarin and say to him:"why don't you believe me?! choose here" the other Malaysian Chinese also forgot and say" why don't you trust him?! choose here" and i suddenly translate it to english to him"why don't you trust him?! choose here", and he realized they have been shouting mandarin to him, and we all have a good laugh afterwards😂😂😂
ahaha me and my chinese friend when they start talking in their language we always like "oih diamlah" and then we both started flapping each other back like best buddy XD
i'm from Singapore, but am glad to see you express your views and i do find your content interesting. anyway I hope you can continue to enjoy your stay in Malaysia amid this difficult time (Covid-19)
Glad you enjoy malaysia. There is good and bad about each country. In my opinion about language, it is only important to connect with people. Sometimes as long as you can gauge the meaning, you will understand them better. Hope you travel around malaysia as much as you can. Alot of sport or adventure in other states of malaysia.
Hello Minaさん, I’m glad that you like Malaysia, hope you are doing great during this MCO period. There are many places and food yet waiting for you to explore here after the pandemic 😁😆 僕は日本が大好きなので、日本語勉強中です。三ヶ月前に東京に行きました、本当に楽しかったです😍

I believe your friends that laughed just thought you're cute when u can't understand chinese, also Tamil is definitely not easy to learn, even for Asian level people, I'm Malaysian too, also subscribed cuz I'm a simp
Learning Chinese take time.. The struggle is real. But don't worry if you are being consistent for learning languages, you will received your goal. Don't care what people say or laugh about when you can't speak Chinese. If the people laugh at you, don't feel bad but take it as a lesson. I also learn Chinese
How about 'Bahasa Malaysia'? Did you learn it when you stay here? Also, I'm now learning nihongo with my sister because we aim to visit Japan next year.
Good video. My advice: Make friends with Malay and Indian too please. Not Chinese friends only. You'll realise so many things in common between Japanese & Malay Culture. Malay Language is best learned if you're staying in either native country like Malaysia or Indonesia. Keep on making cool videos like this. Gambatè !
Hi, do you live in Studio Apa-to or Shared Houses? I live in Subang but it is hard to find the cheap price as you said in the video. I am graduated from Japanese university by the way
Never use the ktm commuter it sucks all the time😂. I know you always ride it bcs tht was the nearest public transport from ur place (I live around there too). I always used to ride too when I was in high school but after I graduated I promise to myself to never ride it anymore. Gratefully my new home is near to mrt
As a Malaysian Chinese, I admit we have this bad habit to speak in our own language and exclude others from the conversation. Besides habit, this is also because we are not confident in English and so to save face we speak Chinese to hide our poor command of English. Don't feel bad, it is not that they don't like you and purposely cut you out from their conversation. You should have pity on them and gently remind them to speak English and improve together. As for learning Chinese, you have to ask one of your friend to teach you some basic one-on-one until you can understand enough to join their conversation. Hope this helps.
i feel bad that you got treated that way for not knowing how to speak , usually for us malaysian dudes we always try helping foriegners by teaching them words they want to speak . i dunno that's for the collage im studying in . every other place has all kinds of different people
Konnichiwa Mina-san :) With regard to going to native English-speaking countries to learn the language, I strongly discourage that choice. My main reason for this is that, native English speakers don't care about their grammar at all. Everyone tends to use their dialects or colloquial version of their language, which may differ greatly from the English being taught in classes around the world. So imagine going there to learn the language, but no one is using the language that you were expecting. In comparison, a country like Malaysia, with English speakers of varying levels of proficiency, will give you the confidence to make mistakes. After all, we learn by making mistakes. Of course, this is just my opinion. Thank you for reading.

Being a develop country is not just about technology, more importantly is our education, morality and mentality, which personally is still not there even if our technology and infrastructure are well built. look at how the citizens care about the public facilities and we know we are far from there.
