  • Kenny Burchard continues to share with Matt Swaim and Ken Hensley the story of his journey to the Catholic Faith.
    When Kenny, who had been a Pentecostal pastor, told some friends he was considering becoming Catholic, he was asked why he'd want to join a church that had gone through so many scandals.
    For Kenny, this was a question that hit close to home, because every Christian group he'd ever been involved with had gone through scandal after scandal, and split after split. And given his experience of those heartbreaking realities, especially as a former Protestant pastor, it was something he had absolutely thought about when considering the Catholic Church.

    Well, as Martin Luther stated, if you’re going to sin, sin boldly. 😒. I was baptized in a baptist church and there were several scandals there during my time at that church. Some baptists I’ve known and still know have zero fear of going to hell for committing adultery or living in mortal sin, so they do whatever they please. They have no concept of venial vs mortal sins though, and I didn’t either. They embrace Luther’s quote above. Then, after there were too many scandals or messiness in the churches I went to, I joined my parents in being a t.v. Evangelist Christian from the comfort of my own home….talk about scandals! I honestly found it very very difficult to live the Christian life as a Protestant. I have really enjoyed this series. I popped some popcorn for this episode! 🍿. Thank you, Kenny, for sharing your story! I hope to hear each of your stories!

      Knowing the bible doesn't guarantee the correct interpretation. That is why we have the Sacred Tradición. From the first century to now, very few changes.

      Dear@@brianmelville520, you are right. Scott Hahn agrees with you, and is another convert to the Catholic Church.
      His point is that the Bible is full of stories of people trying to follow God, stumbling, being disciplined, and following again. People have not changed, just because we now see the Fullness of the Gospel in our Savior Who accompanies the Church through the centuries.
      And isn't this true?

    2. Scandal just sucks - it’s everywhere and unfortunately many of us have scars from it that we don’t even talk about. I can empathize. 🙏🏻

    Humility is so hard for humans to comprehend fully. Our Pride causes so many people to be self righteous. I remember as a child going to catechism classes the sisters always reflected on that important virtue and I needed to ask what it meant. It always struck with me since then.

    @Gia4 just another day of delightful "anti-catholic" drivel adorning the comment section of Kenny's videos. It's like a treasure trove of 'orignal' wit and wisdom 🙄😄
    @Kenny- thank you for continuing to press forward with sharing your testimony- great episode!

    This is truly heartbreaking to hear because I know so many people that I love who are caught up in this very difficult journey of finding the "right" church to believe in. If only I could get them to listen to this one episode.... Would that make a difference? I don't know.

    It’s a very disturbing and frustrating thing to hear from people who are not Catholics and talk about scandals corruption’s and what ever else that they can say,but there’s one obvious thing that they don’t understand about the Catholic Church and that is that when there’s some type or or types of corruption being done in the Catholic Church people don’t have the slightest understanding that it’s not the Catholic Church as a whole doing or causing corruption,it’s simply certain individuals or individual that is doing it for it’s not the whole Catholic Church.Furthermore Jesus exposes in the scriptures about how his One True Church is going to be with countless people in it in the whole world,Jesus never said once in the scriptures that his whole or entire Church is going to all faithful and obedient to him,in fact he points out in his parable’s that there’s going to be numerous problems. I just want to thank all three of you Holy and Just Catholic Men for your expertise of all things that you all present on your video it’s Excellent to learn of and absorb Yeah Alleluia Deo Gratis Amen 🙏 🐑🕊️✨🔥

    What about Paul and Barnabas's spit? Sin? and God used it to further the kingdom. Strange how that works isn't it?

    • @KennyBurchard
      @KennyBurchard Місяць тому +1

      Paul and Barnabas didn’t start denominations or polarized movements with disparate theologies and doctrines. There are times when two people should not do ministry in the same locale. But the division of schism and divergent “christianities” (which is what we find in evangelical Protestantism) is an animal of a different kind from what happened with Paul and Barnabas.

At some time, I would love to chat with you about a dilemma I currently enjoy. :) I say that with tongue in cheek. @frederickanderson1860 Yes, but to follow Him. If others, even those whom you love, don't follow Him there will be division. Jesus calls for all to be one theologically, in Him. St. Paul taught that "you are all to believe the same things." My point is that sin is not the price to pay to follow Him. The divisions in Protestantism are sinful themselves. The fact that they are not Catholics is sinful. Maybe I misunderstood you, but it seemed you were saying that the divisions in Protestantism is the price Christians pay to follow Him.
