I'd like to see a MMO set up based on this. Part of it can be EVE style where you harvest materials, deliver/sell it to a base, and others can buy those minerals and use them to make the mecha seen here. All human units will use fuel and ammunition (so every shot will matter), while the alien stuff will be energy weapons (so the game engine doesn't have to track multiple items on each). Blowing up alien stuff gets you rewards and high-quality scrap metal, which an then be brought back and sold (if you have the cargo capacity)
When I was a kid. My friends and I would have "robot wars, every other weekend. Having the biggest robots was never the best idea, since having squads of smaller robots allowed your to get around them to their base. I had the best array of bots and mechs, never the best, but only two I would call good overall, a Robotech Alpha Fighter (blue) and Diatarn 3. Diatarn was stuck as a base guardian. The Alpha fighter was sent out to combat other middle to upper tier mechs. But I really wanted to go on raids rather than running defense. For Raids smaller bots and mechs were key. I has a few rebranded Diaclones, Kingdam (yeah). But they were not as effective as I had hoped. But then I was trying to fit them into my imposed guardian role rather than as raiders, where they did excel. Having basic infantry as scouts and spotters, would have been great. I would not have known. I only did a few raids because I built the base and had to be guardian of it... I wish I had more Diaclone back then.

We would break out all our robots from just about every franchise we had, TRANSFORMERS, Go-Bots, Robotech/Macross, Battletech, a lot of franchises made solely to sell toys (they didn't even have TV shows), any Japanese Mecha series sold, and so on. The only rule was they had to be robots, so no MOTU, no GIJoe, Star Wars (not even the droids), and the like. It would probably help to say, this was in Hawaii. Crossroads of the Pacific, living on Base, Hickam AFB, we had access to seemingly everything especially from Japan. Most of the TRANSFORMERS, for example, were off-brand imports. The combat was really just playing and the rules were what made sense and we could plausibly agree on. But we really got into it and it really did evolve into something approaching a real time miniatures game, if such a thing was possible. It was playing army men but with a far more vast number of units many of which simply did not play by the same rules in their own canons. I was so glad I had Galactic Man (a Radio Shack off brand of TRANSFORMERS Shockwave) to counter Megatron and Galvatron. TWO BROTHERS HAD BOTH. Gods we avoided some many "one-shot-and-its-over" Robot Wars using Mutually Assured Destruction (MAD). Even at 10 years old WE WERE AWARE OF THIS. That kinda' makes me laugh today and how kids today have NO IDEA about MAD. Utterly all of them could never think to play a game of fictional war as complicated as our old Robot Wars.
It certainly is, and creating a new Great Robot Base with a dozen points of articulation in robot form would be one hell of an achievement. Ditto for Fortress Robot X. ;-)

I just received my *DA-17 Big Powered GV (Independent Mobility Squad ver.)* set in the mail the other day (2:51 it's this repaint), and opened it last night. And. I. _LOVE._ IT!!! I've never owned _anything_ from either the original 1980s or this newly-rebooted _Diaclone_ before, but I have been collecting _Transformers_ over the decades, so this is a completely new experience for me. Having grown up on _Transformers_ and _Power Rangers_ (later the _Super Sentai Series_ ) for over 25 years, I've always enjoyed the giant transforming and combining robots, but I never got into or appreciated playsets and parts-forming, so this is completely new territory for me. Despite standing _only_ 13" tall in its final robot form, there is a _massive amount_ of shear texture, engineering and ingenuity that has gone into the Big Powered GV (IMS ver). Each Powered vehicle has multiple modes of operation and ways of combining with other Powered Vehicles, and it's stunning how articulated all of the robot forms _and_ the not-even 1"-tall Dia-Naughts and Powered Suit E Type are! I _must_ emphasize that these new _Diaclone_ reboot sets are absolutely _not for children!_ They are too small, closely engineered, and made of fragile pieces for little hands to be able to deal safely with them. Rather, these sets are for *_big_*_ kids_ like us collectors who can appreciate the craftsmanship, love and, er... price tag. For a repaint with slight remolds (_only the hands_ are different!), that was USD $294.00 (including S&H) _well spent,_ and I will continue to closely follow the _Diaclone_ reboot. when you're fighting against an army of interchangeable weapons, vehicles, megazords, and mechs; you know you're gonna end up with a bad time bad time no matter who you are. (I know these things aren't actually megazords but they look more like them than the transformers they're related to.)
Fast scouts are never a bad idea no matter how advanced your sensors are. keeping said scouts that close to a main combat unit about to get into the thick of it? now that is

And because this big bot is Big Powered. he's damn big enough to punch Waruder ship with his bare fits with impetus of charging at it. Many Waruders are just too tough to shoot out. Many Diaclone bots also need swords eqipped as well. look at standard Dia Battles unit, one squadron has two Crash Caliber Blades for this.

I'm not gonna lie. I'm a huge Transformers fan and I'd LOVE to see a full fledged Diaclone anime series.
