Sadly Angelo Bruschini, who played the guitars on this album, passed away this week. On a happier note, Elizabeth Fraser (singer of the Cocteau Twins and guest vocalist here) has just had an asteroid named after her!

When you learn more about the song Teardrop, it's actually about Elizabeth Fraser learning about the passing of her friend Jeff Buckley. She and Jeff Buckley are in a song together called All Flowers Bloom Towards the Sun and listening to that and Teardrop is so gut wrenching.

Cocteau Twins broke up after Elizabeth Fraser dated Jeff Buckley. She and her ex Robin Guthrey recorded SONG TO THE SIREN by Jeff's dad, Tim Buckley and it was their biggest hit (under the name This Mortal Coil). Jeff drowned and Liz wrote Teardrop about his death and had a huge hit again. Check out SONG TO THE SIREN & ALL FLOWERS IN TIME a demo Jeff recorded with Liz. Heartbreaking good

holy shit yes!!! i'm so happy you finally listened to this masterpiece, and actually loved it too! this is absolutely an all-timer for me, every single song is next-level shit. to me the "Exchange" tracks work as significant moments in the record's story, which - the way i see it - is very dark and strange, so it makes sense for you to not really love them if you've not fully figured the album out for yourself yet. definitely a project that gets even better with time. loved your reaction yay yay yay!

Group four was a security firm in the uk that had a less than good reputation. "1997! Are you f@ckin' kiddin' me!"
1997 wasn't *that* long ago. LOL
Anyhow, Trip Hop was a vibe. And this album was still at a time when we listened to whole albums and not just the tracks. Ultimately, much of this music promotes chillin' and humpin', the kind of stuff you'd see in a David Lynch movie while someone's on drugs and driving on a dark highway. I introduced this music to a few stripper lady friends of mine and they said their tips during dances increased. :-) "Black Milk" in particular was a favorite.
Loved watching your authentic reaction bud, :)

It reminds me of a road trip I took with friends/our young kids in the Czech Republic. We came to a railway crossing on a desolate dusty road and had to stop at the red light. There was nobody else around anywhere and we were the only car on the road.
It was a blazing hot day, so we sat waiting for the lights to change with all the car doors flung wide open, while Inertia Creeps was blaring out of the car.
