I'm a learner and I'm looking at taking this course to understand the road better.

Have you taken your training further with, say, RoSPA or the IAM? Well worth doing to prevent maintain the knowledge.

Steve Minshall yes I've got my IAM advanced now. See this video ua-cam.com/video/ZAj1AOLoKx4/v-deo.html for my experience. Thanks for stopping by.

Middleaged Rider Nice one. I did a police safer rider course in the early 1990's - before Bikesafe - and went on to IAM. Currently looking to take my RoSPA test and trying to help the local group through its birthing pains. Every bit helps!

Enjoyed the video; taking my second BikeSafe course in June and picked up the IAM info last time around but failed to follow through....

Tony G thanks, glad you enjoyed. I would highly recommend persevering with advanced training (IAM, RoSPA etc). I did IAM, see my thoughts on this video ua-cam.com/video/ZAj1AOLoKx4/v-deo.html

Does the top box affect the handling much? I want one, purely so the kids have something to lean on when I get them on the back

I haven't noticed any to be honest. I have a Givi Monokey system (not monolock). I've never had more than about 5kg in the box. I use it mainly for storing my (big) chain, bag and my helmet for commuting. The Monokey system is supposed to handle more weight and be secure at higher speeds. The monolock is more for scooters etc. I've had my box on at motorway speeds plus and it's been fine and solid and not noticed any adverse effects.

I know all the roads in this video. They bore me these days as they're just too crowded and maybe I know them too well - I know where the overtaking places are, and either gap is open or closed. Herts and Surrey are less crowded and more interesting. Down towards the South East and Box Hill, you get good roads and a chance to open it up.

Most roads in the SE are busy and crowded especially Surrey. Think it's more a case of picking the right road and rising at a less congested time. If you want good roads and a chance to open it up, head across the Channel into Europe! Thanks for watching

Good advice - the roads are probably empty in the early mornings but I'm not one of those who can ride before having a proper breakfast and 2 mugs of coffee. LOL.

Well done pity we could not get some more young people to take up motorcycling. EU laws prob !!!!!

There are some proposed changes coming to motorcycle license laws soon which I think will make it easier and cheaper for people to get a license which will be especially helpful for attracting younger people

£50... wow. Absolute bargain. Pay more than that for lessons

It's really worth doing and the coppers are bike nuts themselves and give some really decent advice. Highly recommended.
