Jay, You are first guy that actually have used the racket strap as it was intended by the manufactures. You thread the webbing through the racket and pull tight then adjust the racket. I did trails with companies back in the early 80's for the strap, (we used to call them checkered strape, because of there webbing design and colour at the time) before then it was roping and sheeting. Thank you for doing it the correct way. The other way, works but how they are intended to. So thank you.
Great Video Jay, I sub'd your channel years ago and just recently got back into your vids. Just love your attitude to work and has got me thru WFH during lockdown. Im not even a trucker, im in IT but ur attitude has helped me stay motivated.
I learnt so much from this video, the part where you were showing how to strap properly was really good. I also love the trick to get the window shut! Atleast you do your job safely! Stay safe
You need to stop learning from this lad. He’s not a registered trainer and he never strapped the load correctly. Get the correct training from the registered training companies out there or you will end up with points on your license if your caught.
Strapping might not be required in this case by EU regulations as the trailer is rated as an "XL" due to the EU standard "EN 12642 XL", when using the global blocking method for securing the load. However, it's allways a good thing to strap the cargo in a curtain side trailer.
I only use my iPad for my sat nav, I have purchased Sygic truck sat nav, it has great navigation and full control over truck dimensions and weight etc, not once has it tried to take me under a low bridge and driving for B&M with 16’3 high trailers it’s a good job
No the Tir cord is not load restraint,But it helps slow vosa down before you can open the curtains and they can have a look see if you have done things correctly enough for them.
Hi Jay! Im new subscriber. Iv watched all previous video and im a big fan of your work! I absolutely love watching from start to finish! Amazing. Keep up the good work stay safe & truck on 😊
Thank you Jay Great video again another one really enjoyed as always. And again very interesting Thanks again. Take care and stay safe and safe trucking. Thumbs up 👍👍👍to you and All HGV. Drivers. John Whitehouse
So at what point did you strap that load of compost correctly? Where are your corner pieces to protect the bags from splitting and the strap was only covering over the spread of a half of the pallet.. should have used double of the straps. Just saying like.
#Thumbsup absolutley brilliant vlog trucker Jay and it must be so frustrating when you open the curtains and some lazy sod can't be bothered to strap the load down causing you and I'm sure others extra work take care of yourself sir and stay safe and well Jay
Still stuck with the Renault again Jay.Surely you should be getting something better by now. Can't believe they didn't strap that peat load down mate, good job there are decent drivers like you who do the job right. Hope you are staying well mate, nice to keep doing the ride alongside with you, cheers Jay.Stay safe & keep on truckin'.
The standard iPad does not have the GPS chipset (it can use wife/bluetooth for location services, but obviously not on the move), only the mobile SIM equipped iPad does. The alternative is to use something like the Google Nexus which does have a GPS chipset and doesn't need a SIM.
Hi Jay really loved this vid proper insight into the world of trucking ha ha I know it was a big inconvenience for you but keep up the good work dude you got my respect for ever........ Can I have a shut out Sabe
With what happened at around 13:40 i've noticed alot of people have been driving faster/more erratically least here in England anyway. It's literally been like Brands Hatch in my town!
Try taking the tablet out of the case and seeing if it works. I have trouble in our Volvos getting GPS signal on my phone when using Google Maps, my old Garmin satnav used to have trouble too - couldn't find where you were, kept thinking you were going off route, kept freezing and not updating when I was driving. Missed a few turns with it when going to new places. Never had any problems in our MANs...Turns out it's the tracker installed by the company that's in the dashboard. Mine had malfunctioned, when the chap came out and I told him that, he said it'll be more than likely the electronic box that everything plugs into. Changed that and the TomTom (ended up returning the Garmin, one problem after another) has been fine ever since. Phone's temperamental depending on where I have it in the cab - if it's anywhere near the middle of the dashboard then it won't usually work. Thanks for that ratchet strap tutorial, I've been driving for a couple of years, but only done tankers so wouldn't have a clue. Know I done it for my MOD 4, but I can't remember now. You're right about Trucknet. all the best Jay, drive safe👍👍
Are the straps you used yours or the trailers , will you have to take em off once delivered, to take em back . What would you do if you didn't have em.
Hello Jay, hope you’re keeping well. My name is Robert from Manchester although I’ve now been living in Qatar in the Middle East since 2010. I was a truck driver in the UK 10 years. I last drove a truck on the UK roads back in 1998. I did about 4 years on general haulage, 3 of them for Stobarts based in Warrington, and then 6 years on hazardous chemical waste tankers. Can I ask you a few questions that you maybe able to answer on a future video. 1, Regarding the strapping of loads. If you loaded a trailer and needed to strap it like those fertiliser pallets and then drop in your yard, after dropping the trailer, would you take your straps off or leave them on and get more straps from the office ? How does that work. 2, I’m sorry but I only joined your channel a few months ago. Can I ask, what is your history from leaving school, what did you do before driving, how did you get into driving and who have you worked for so far driving what types. 3, Your depot, whereabouts in the UK is that place. For some reason I thought you worked based in Liverpool. Robert in Doha, Qatar in the Middle East

Hi Jay been watching your videos for a little while, good realistic true life world of trucking. I was told when using straps have the ratchet on the N/S in case you need to pull over and make adjustments, anyone else got any comments about this !

I tried getting my hgv license changed over when l moved to tyne and wier in the UK from Australia. With 40 years doing general and fridge hgv driving all over the eastern states ' cairns Brisbane Sydney Melbourne and Adelaide l was told go back to van then rigid then l can go for a hgv and l have to fork out thousands of pounds and then another 600 for cpc. No wonder you have a shortage of drivers. I went back to Aussie for 10 months on the road and earned half as much again over uk drivers. Loading once in Melbourne 3 days to cairns beats 10 drops. Lou
