What things you should consider before searching for medicine training jobs in the UK? What are the different steps of Medicine Training in the United Kingdom (often known as IMT)? In this 3 part video series, I plan to cover all these burning questions in your mind so that you are at a better position to decide between whether to do MD Medicine in India or pursue the MRCP in the UK. Hi... I'm currently in the Plab pathway( giving plab 2 in May) but also giving MRCP part 1 next month hoping that it will give me some edge when I apply for non training fy2 jobs after getting GMC registration...
I'm also planning give to give part 2 written, later( if everything goes well)... Do you think I'm going in the right direction?
My ultimate aim is to get into a non-training job as quickly as possible...and then decide about which branch to specialize in...
Your videos are very very helpful... Any video regarding last minute tips for mrcp part 1 will be highly appreciated 😇

      Hi Sudheer
I would say your plan is reasonable. PLAB will get you a GMC registration quicker than MRCP at this point and passing MRCP theories will definitely give you an edge in your job applications.
All the best for you exam.. Focus on your strengths. Anlayze your mock exams to idenitfy areas that may need some brushing up and work on time management.

Hi mam , thankyou for the video i have few doubts
    1. Is it better to do plab after mbbs and pursue our career in london or is it better to do our MD in india and come to london through MRCP route ?
2.considering the clinical exposure and wide range of cases while doing MD in a govt clg in india , will there be same level of clinical exposure in london if we come there after our Mbbs through plab ?
Pls clarify both of my doubts mam because im an intern , im completely not able to decide whether to choose neet pg or plab

This would depend on your long term goals. If you are looking for a long term career and training in the UK, then it is better to enter the system early.Learning opportunities are plenty in both countries but please remember that these experience are in keeping with the health care system that you are working in.

    Hi aprajitha
    This is Srikanth
I finished my MD in India and currently working as a consultant in a private hospital at my place .
While working I have finished my macp part 1 and 2 .. and recently I have cleared my OET also .
My paces application got rejected once … and also heard that paces is very difficult to crack in the first attempt. So I thought it’s better I work in Uk and then give my paces in Uk which helps me clearing the exam soon .
So my question now is : can I come to Uk and work there with my MD degree in India and clearing my MRCP part 1 and 2 and also my English exam ???
If so how can I apply Jobs only by just passing MRCP part 1 and 2 and English exam ???

Is there any clinical xperience which we hav to get in india to ace mrcp 1 after mbbs..or is it advisable after md...

Will the GMC start recognising Indian postgraduate degrees like MD, DM and DNB? In my opinion they will not, since they stopped registering British MD and ChM (etc) degrees a couple of decades ago. These ceased being clinical qualifications after the war and have become purely research degrees which can be in a non-human scientific topic, but were restricted to people with a primary medical degree. It was an anomaly that medics who did a PhD could not put it on their registration certificate. Nowadays the GMC registers only primary medical qualifications like MB BS, and also the completion of training as a General Practitioner or Specialist.
Although they do not REGISTER MRCP (etc), they do take British higher qualifications into account when it comes to registering foreign medical graduates.
In earlier times the GMC used to inspect medical schools throughout the British Empire and they used to register Indian MD as well as MBBS and even MCPS and FCPS of Bombay. Their inspections caused a lot of resentment and Indian academics arranged their own inspection system in the 1930s. In the 1970s and later the GMC got around the problem of not inspecting foreign medical schools by introducing the TRAB and later the PLAB tests, along the lines of the various US tests for foreign medical graduates.
It sounds as if they are not going to count many foreign higher qualifications. While Britain was in the European Union the GMC was compelled to accept European medical qualifications held by European citizens, but since Brexit that may end. Or it may not, since the UK has had a shortage of doctors ever since the end of the war. European doctors might appear more acceptable to the far right than Asians and Africans, but in practice they hate all foreigners.
Before postgraduate training became properly organised in the 1980s and 1990s, the solution was, as in other countries and other industries, to bring in trained and qualified foreigners, refuse to recognise their qualifications and employ (pay) them at a lower level. This still happens with the "non-training" jobs: Staff Grade, Specialty Doctor or Trust Grades.

Ma'am my question is, i have completed mbbs and i have 2 years clinical experience as junior resident in medicine department , currently I'm preparing for MRCP part 1 , so the question is ma'am once i clear all 3 steps (finger crossed) ,after that what level we could be recognised in UK is it At CT-3 level or we have to go from CT-1 level if i have to pursuing into IMT training, please clear this confusion thank you so much ma'am 🙏

    • @AceurMRCP
      @AceurMRCP  2 роки тому

      Good question.
First, there is no CT 1or CT 2 anymore for medicine, this has been replaced by IMT1, IMT2 and IMT3. If you have completed MRCP and also have adequate clinical experience no match this, you will be comparable to IMT3, which means you don't have to enter IMT training. Having said that, as I have discussed in this video, clinical experience is the determinant of your level of hierarchy and not only MRCP exam.

Hello Dr. Aparajita... Thanks for all the pain you take to make such amazing informative videos...
    I have some queries...
1>Is the degree MRCP medicine is recognized by MCI/NMC in India after completion of all 3 steps of the exam? I have already a clinical experience of medicine(DNB FM) of about 6yrs and Critical care medicine (wth fellowship FCCCM)of about 5yrs...
2.with my above mentioned clinical experiences in India, if I do MRCP medicine, is it going to add value to my CV? Or what are the advantages, I may get in India. Is it going to be considered equivalent to MD medicine degree without IMT or CTT??
3.with this experiences and MRCP (if I get through, what position I can expect in UK or UAE?
Atlast, NMC/GMC recognition of MRCP in India is very important as I mentioned above, plz clearify on that in details. Lot of confusion on that....

It says, "However, MRCP UK and no mention about MRCPi as an alternative. I'm still confused. Do I need to sit for the MRCP UK as a term, or MRCPi would be good along with the rest of the scoring criteria. Thanks.

    2. If so, do we need institutional permission to apply for the exam?

      Hi Vedavati
You can definitely write MRCP exam whilst doing MD and you donot need any instituitonal permission as such.
Please be advised that you would need to have substantial clinical experience in clinical medicine to be able to be successful in the MRCP exam.
Completing MRCP is one of the routes for GMC registration which is essential for working as a doctor in the UK.

    • @AceurMRCP
      @AceurMRCP  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Mitesh
The key to be successful in the MRCP exam and in the NHS is rock solid clinical knowledge which can only come with experience. There are many doctors who have managed to get that without doing formal MD training. The advantages of MD are multiple though. This is a structured programme, gives you demonstrable evidence for research and teaching experience and also earns you points for a post graduate qualification when you apply for speciality training in the UK. The degree is well known in the NHS and puts the doctor in a good stead among his peers.
