    Hope you enjoyed this video, it’s taken over two months to film and edit due to the sparseness of bike parts available! It’s worth it though and the bike is better than ever! 🤣👍

    You wouldn’t be able to do an overhaul on my boardman comp 26” would you? been wanting to get back on a bike again and having had the chance as i don’t like the way it is it’s got cheap replacement parts on. willing to pay for parts , cheers 🤙

      Hi, sorry I would love to but I’m afraid I can’t do those sorts of things. I’m not a trained bike mechanic and my bike was a learning curve for me. I also don’t have any specialist tools so am unable to properly overhaul a bike. Sorry.

      Thanks! 👍 Yeah, I completely agree with you and it’s something I wish I could’ve done with this video. Unfortunately having no cameraman, two cameras and a tight space to work in, it gets quite awkward trying to fit tripods here and there and have multiple angles... 😂😂 It’s something I’m going to try to improve on though if I do a similar video In the future! 👍👍

    I am building a trek remedy 2018, reason being I could not get the 2020 frame set in black with olive green writing, so I had to opt for the 2018 one, same shock, might repaint it one day / get custom trek logos because I already got death grips in green to match the logo 😂 or I might just repaint it really bright and nicely

    Hi, great video and amazing remedy 8, the most beautiful I have ever seen.
    I also have a 2018 Remedy 8 and I want to upgrade my rear shox to a RockShox Super Deluxe like you had.
    Can you please tell me if you did anything particularly to fit the 230x60mm measurement, instead of the original 230x57.5mm, or did it fit without any problems?

    • @ostankovalex1176
      @ostankovalex1176 2 роки тому

      nothing to add there
      the frame can handle up to 65mm shock stroke
      you can just add 230x60 shock and the bike will handle it, it will also increase the travel in the rear
      I've mulleted mine, currently have 160/29 Lyrik in front and 230x62.5 shock in the rear
      The bike also handles easily a 170 fork, so you can get a reverse angelset and ditch the knock block

    • @TrailTrialerMTB
      @TrailTrialerMTB  2 роки тому

      A 230x60mm will be fine, it'll only void the warranty which if your bike no longer has one, it doesn't matter anyway. I had mine shortened by TF Tuned who put a small spacer in there.

    Hey mate, I know it’s a long shot seeing as it’s been two years since the video came out but I was wondering how you mounted the shock in the bike I’m looking to replace my rear shock with a fox float X and don’t understand how to get the correct spacing for the mounts. Thanks

    • @TrailTrialerMTB
      @TrailTrialerMTB  Рік тому +1

      I got everything from a company called TF Tuned. If you look up on their website they should be able to provide the mounting kit for you to swap the shock straight over 🙌 as long as the shock is 230x57.5 or 230x60 you’ll be good 👍

  • @ba.6199
    @ba.6199 2 роки тому

    would have loved a closer look at the shock mounting hardware, as the super deluxe ultimate uses a 8mm bearing mount at the bottom and the remedy is an 10mm at the lower mount so i thought it wasn't a straight swap?

    • @TrailTrialerMTB
      @TrailTrialerMTB  2 роки тому

      Yep, so when I bought it, I bought it from TF Tuned who for a small fee extra supply you with the hardware and mounting kit, all you need to do then is unbolt the old shock, take the bolt out and bolt the new shock in. It was really simple and took about 5 minutes. It’s definitely a worthy upgrade and has transformed the bike massively and actually, there will be a 1 year review of the shock coming out soon! If not, the mounting hardware from the reaktiv might not work as it’s too big, however, you can buy the hardware for a small fee and the bolts from the reaktiv can be reused too. I’d highly recommend buying from TF Tuned as they were fast, great service and also offer that extra hardware 🙌

  • @Xangoose1

    Nice video man! Could you give the i to i of the super deluxe? Considering putting one on my remedy 8

    • @TrailTrialerMTB
      @TrailTrialerMTB  2 роки тому +1

      Sorry for a late reply, the eye to eye of the shock is 230mm and the stroke is 57.5mm. You can also get a 230x60mm shock which will also work perfectly on the bike, many people do this, however this voids your warranty but does give you a couple mm extra travel!

    I have the same bike, and think about to upgrade the damper. My choice is between rs super deluxe ultimate and fox X2 factory. But I to don't know how a fox damper fit on the remedy 8.

    • @TrailTrialerMTB
      @TrailTrialerMTB  2 роки тому +1

      Personally, I don’t know how the fox rides or fits. After 1 year on the RS super deluxe, I have nothing but good words about it and it’s a great shock so therefore I can only recommend that one. 🙌

      Unfortunately not… it can only fit 27.5 wheels although I wouldn’t wish to on this bike anyway as I like the way it rides. My next bike will be a 29er though 👍

    Hello good day, do you know if this piece ‎00.4118.313.000 will fit my trek remedy 8 2018?

    • @TrailTrialerMTB
      @TrailTrialerMTB  2 роки тому

      Yes it should fit. just bear in mind that it's a Thru-Shaft shock which means the shaft will come out the bottom when the shock is compressed. Just make sure to check the clearance below the shock first. Also, the 2018 Remedy has a full floater which lowers the position of the shock when compressed. Maybe worth checking with trek.

    Did the superdeluxe Ultimate go straight in with the same bolts as the reactiv so a straight swap? And was it the 230 x 57.5 model? I’m contemplating the same upgrade on my 2017 remedy….

    • @TrailTrialerMTB
      @TrailTrialerMTB  3 роки тому

      @@mudia80 It’s exactly the same as it is from factory, the shock was bought from a shop called “tf tuned”, nothing to do with the shock having any specific tune. In terms of comparison, the new shock is definitely a lot softer and more subtle than the old shock. Sorry as I don’t know if this was what you were asking or if you meant something else.👍

      @TrailTrialerMTB  3 роки тому

      I am roughly between 5’10 and 5’11 but closer towards 5’10 ( I don’t know the exact measurement 🤣). I ride a 17.5 inch frame but it is a bit small for me to be honest. When I got it back in December 2018, it was the right size but I’ve since grown out of it. It still feels great to ride and I have no issues, it just could be a bit bigger. For my size, I’d probably need a 19.5 frame now, but I’d recommend trying one first to see which size you like. 👍
