I have never posted a comment anywhere and am just an average Joe so no special company treatment here but I installed an 8 head Irrigreen system this past spring and had to follow up on this video and comments. I did have some issues as mentioned in the video specifically with hardware / software in my heads initially but have since resolved all issues. I knew with new tech I might run into some bugs. Customer service has been excellent. Honestly I have never had better customer service and a company wanting to work with me, make things right, and actually listen to and address my comments and suggestions. The system works as advertised and they are always working to make the system as a whole better from software, hardware, app development, and head/nozzle R&D and design. As for the plumbing I initially installed the system directly to my hose bib which I pressure and flow tested and met company recommendations. I used all 1 inch PVC and I had good zone reach running straight from my hose bib but was just short in a few areas. I had extensive discussions with a plumber and Irrigreen about tying the system straight to my main house water line and if it would increase my throw and performance(it was a big price tag to plumb it “right “ with a pressure regulator, deduct meter, rpz backflow, pressure gauge, two ball valves, drain valve, and a blow out connection running on 1” copper lines to my 1”PVC). Ultimately I wanted to make sure I was getting the most out of the system and protecting the house so I did the right thing and had my main waterline split inside the house to a 1” line with components inline as mentioned above all the way out to my PVC with 80psi and my throw and performance of the system increased and I couldn’t be happier. I have held extensive discussions with Irrigreen tech support and had just great support. I learned a lot about the system as a whole and learned a bunch from doing the install myself. It took a lot for me to cut into a nearly pristine sod yard ( sod cut, trenched, recovered) so something I didn’t do but would recommend for ease of potential repairs like some have mentioned is to run a second PVC line for the controller wire with bends and size large enough to pull the wire through if needed. I hated cutting into and damaging my sod so I think this would be a wise addition to help with potential digging and repairs down the road. Overall I love having the latest and greatest thing in the neighborhood. Everyone is in amazement when I describe and show them the system. I feel like a mini expert after all of the work put into installing and troubleshooting the system alongside Irrigreens support team. If your thinking about it go for it!
As a professional sprinkler installer I decided to carry only 1” pipe and fittings for all my jobs. Other companies will carry 1/2-3/4-and 1”. To me running everything in 1” just makes more sense. The only issue was when I went to repair other peoples systems and they used smaller pipe, so thats where a hodgepodge of fittings and repair couplers came into play. So glad I quit irrigation and focused on fert!!!😂

I just came upon this irrigreen system tonight. I found your video very helpful. I also live in northern Utah in cache Valley. I am getting ready to install my new sprinkler system at my house that we have just built. We will probably have 30+ thousand square feet of lawn. Do I dare go all in and set it up with irrigreen from the get-go?
Are you on a well or city water? I think that you’ve got to weigh out the pros and cons on usage and complexity. For my lawn, I saved almost 40,000 gallons last year compared to years prior. It’s significant.
I’m on a well so it’s not really about cost savings from a water bill as much as ease of installation and a really cool concept. Also wondering do they put out enough water to keep things nice and green without running them forever? I have a lawn care company and in the past I’ve had properties with mp rotators and even though they say they save a lot of water I don’t think they did because we were always running them a lot longer than the traditional heads to keep places green. All that said just wanting to make sure it wouldn’t end up being a similar issue. Thanks for your feedback.
Great video! Do you know approximately how much water it pushes out (i.e. gallons per minute) or can you comment on how much it has saved in water. I ask because I am contemplating either an Oto or Irrigreen and want to ultimately go with the one that is most water efficient. My lawn isnt too bit, about 1300 sq ft.
Just one bone to pick, see it with most of the irrigreen videos. I won’t argue with the irrigreen sprinklers being the most efficient, gave a guy a quote to install yesterday and told him the same thing. But when you talk about getting double watering from your traditional heads, particularly if they are rotors or MP rotators, that isn’t true. They are designed for even watering based on appropriate spacing, but the overlap is what gets that more even coverage. The precipitation rate at 10’ vs 25‘ isn’t the same, so it’s not getting doubled up. If you have a single row spraying out off your driveway but not one spraying back toward the driveway, it’ll be much greener closer to the heads.
Your at least a year into your system and through the summer.(not sure what part of the country). I'm in Texas and a new build. Any change in your B+-A- rating?
Thanks for the info. Do you know how high off the ground the lowest water jet is? I have St Augustine grass cut around 4” and need to know if these heads will come up high enough. Thanks in advance.
I installed an Irrigreen system last year and am generally happy with the decision. I’m curious, do you have any issues with pressure variations that affect the spray distance? That’s my only real issue. One day a zone is spraying the right shape and the next day it might spray 4 feet further. Not a huge deal, but it’s stopping me from installing fertigation. I don’t like the idea of staining a patio or fence with something like RGS. Keep making great content and products!
I did my install a couple weeks ago and I’m noticing the exact same issue. It’s either spraying too short or too far. Maybe a foot variance either way.
A pressure regulator will mitigate that if you're water pressure is high enough. However if the issue is the water pressure is dropping below 40psi you may need a booster pump. Irrigreen is tricky if you have a well. Constant 40/60psi cycling makes for very erratic spray patterns.
Hey! I just came upon your video as I'm looking into irrigreen after my DIY system is too weak to push water as my lawn needs (city--40psi--Rain Bird 6 head system--shoots one line from each head about 10 feet--sooo disappointed). Was this a DIY install and if so, did you have a plumber come out and do that plumbing aspect? Did you do a second water meter (I've heard you should do this). Thanks for an honest video--great looking lawn!
This was DIY, no plumber. But if your mainline is 40psi, you will likely need a booster pump. I adapted mine to my old system and it works great. If you search for irrigreen on my channel, there’s two or three other vids
@@Lawncology sweet! I'll def check that out. Hadn't seen your video before and after my DIY system was soooo disappointing I've been searching for an alternative sprinkler (after getting a bid for $4K for just the front yard) Appreciate the honest video and the knowledge base spread to us peeps!
Do you know if they are working on any additional nozzle configurations that would be tailored towards new seeding/over seeding? These droplets and pressure look to be too powerful if establishing a new lawn.
Do these heads, or can they flow enough to make up for having 1 head where a traditional style system had multiple? Maybe less of an issue but if these don’t flow a lot I would think you’d have to run them a long time each given they cover such a large area each. This is only really a “problem” in specific situations but I thought it worth the ask.

They know who I am, and I know that they’ve been filling customer support positions. They are aware of their own short comings with staffing. But that problem has been for the most part solved.
I’m on week post DIY install of irrigreen. I’ve had some app bugs but I’ll agree with the statement that their tech support is on top of things. It was a solid 10-12 hours of work for a single person (rented trencher, PVC install, calibration, etc.) for those who are thinking about taking the plunge and doing it yourself it’s possible! Super impressed by the system and it’s only going to continue to get better with software updates.
Every video I've watched so far has them placed in the middle of a grassed area, I'd like to know if they can be put on the edge of a lawn to do say 180 degrees.
Sorry if this what asked. But just how much more is this compared to a traditional system? 50% , 2 times , 4 times? Im renovating a historic home and I’m just getting into landscaping. I’m absolutely determined to install as a DIY . With a .4 acre lot I’m curious how much more in costs it would be and how long to see savings. I work in tech as a software manager so i understand there is a cost to support and development that goes into a system like this.
I would not do this as a DIY. All the water lines in this system will be pressurized all the time like the pipes in your home. Each head is the valve so any leaks will keep leaking indefinitely until you figure out there is a leak and shut your water main off.
Random thought: what about EZ-flo + Greene County Fert + drip irrigation? Does that work also? I assume it’s not a good idea, but I’m re-doing the full irrigation system soon. So figured I’d check
It will actually not only support master valves but with the right configuration it can control you're valves for traditional zones if you just want to replace one or 2 heads at a time.
I am currently looking at getting an Irrigation system installed, does anyone know the cost of one of these systems? My lot size is just under a quarter acre. Thanks in advance.
I could irrigate a whole community for the price of this system Hunter 5” pop up heads 5$-10$ each x100 = 1 head of this system that’s enough pop heads to do about 20 houses so if you need 10 of these heads to complete your system it’s insane
I feel like this is missing the point and that’s okay. The system isn’t heads, it’s a system. If you have to pay for water, you’ll make your money back. If you don’t, send it down the gutters, who cares?
@@Lawncology I don’t think you’ve ever installed a real irrigation system each head can be tuned on the line differently with the nozzles and the adjustment screw and the swivel pattern I’m not missing the point l installed irrigation systems for years with 0 loss or waste it’s all about placement and adjustment maybe it wasn’t as simple as putting in one head or two heads per zone but at the cost it seems pretty comparable. Also what about the replacement cost if I run over a Hunter or rainbird head with my machines it takes me a few hours and 50 bucks to fix the system with this it’s another couple grand. Look I’m all for not wasting money I have empire zoysias grass and Bermuda in my house I literally never have to water I use hydrotain a few times a year and cut at 1inch and never have any issues this just seems a little over priced is all if the heads were maybe a couple hundred bucks 200-300 per zone maybe it would make more sense but at 1600 or what ever per head 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

When I did the math for my home, the system cost about 25% more than the system I originally installed. However, manpower on install is greatly reduced, less pipe, less glue, blah blah blah, but then the water savings kick in. Based on the cost of water here, I will save about 250.00-350.00 annually.
The new app is way more stable. The new updates have been needed.
Every video I've watched so far has them placed in the middle of a grassed area, I'd like to know if they can be put on the edge of a lawn to do say 180 degrees.
Yes you can do them down a strip, I have one setup for a 180.
Coffee … yes!
Yes it works
@@Lawncology oh snap! Game = changed.
Thank you!
Does irrigreeen support master valves?
I have seen a configuration done that way
Yea, I have one on my system.
It will actually not only support master valves but with the right configuration it can control you're valves for traditional zones if you just want to replace one or 2 heads at a time.
Not looking to be creepy or specifics, but where do you live? It looks so beautiful! Utah maybe?
Yes, I live in the park city area
Does the Irrigreen sprinkle itself around the head?
Yes, it waters right up next to it
How much does one of these heads cost?
I am currently looking at getting an Irrigation system installed, does anyone know the cost of one of these systems? My lot size is just under a quarter acre. Thanks in advance.
My yard is 1 acre and its 1900.00 the system is around 1600.00 with additional heads being 200.00ish@@josephevans6982
I could irrigate a whole community for the price of this system
Hunter 5” pop up heads 5$-10$ each x100 = 1 head of this system that’s enough pop heads to do about 20 houses so if you need 10 of these heads to complete your system it’s insane
@@Justthemow ok there it is. Yes, I have installed many, many systems. And I want to be clear I’m not being combative but you nailed the price. 245-275 per head. Also, I agree about damage. I do like how deep you can buddy these and since they are in the middle and not on edges, it’s easier to set them deep without exposure.
@@Lawncology when I used to install irrigation systems I charged a flat fee per zone of 600$ most houses needed 6 or 7 zones in my area 1 from yard 1 back yard 1 both sides of the house and then flower beds and then 600$ for the control module so about 3600-5000 for the whole system 0 loss I went to the builder on the site and I was at like 3k just for my front yard I’m sorry I just don’t see the value. If you spend the time to do the system properly it won’t waste any water and I’m not trying to argue with ya really just for me personally being able to install an irrigation system my self properly this just isn’t worth the monies
@@Justthemow my system originally, all installed myself was around 2200.00 all in pipe glue and all. There are 10 zones. This all in with a fresh install, 2600
Of course you haven't had any issues with customer service. Your a VIP, a influencer, its not the same for us. I sent and email a few days ago about the app, still nothing
I haven’t yet met anyone with troubles in that department. Email me directly and I’ll shoot you the address inisw
Denzel as Dr Doom would have been waaaayyyy better than bringing back RDJ
Not hating, love the channel and products. However, I have to ask what is going on with your edging and weeds in the beds? 🤭🤭🤭🤭
Lack of work. I let it all go crazy during the rains and haven’t spent anytime out there
Traditional sprinklers are designed to overlap. They're not overwatering.
I hate their website. It makes me draw the lawn and then I get a lump sum quote. They really don't show the cost of individual units or the cost breakdown. What if I want to add another unit and I already had the control box. Tried to email them. No response. Plus the don't have any distributers. I prefer to buy on Amazon to hold a seller accountable.
too expensive for what it does. $1500 for a controller? Really?
When I did the math for my home, the system cost about 25% more than the system I originally installed. However, manpower on install is greatly reduced, less pipe, less glue, blah blah blah, but then the water savings kick in. Based on the cost of water here, I will save about 250.00-350.00 annually. It doesn’t take long to have it become cash flow positive.
Robot mower I'm out.
I ran the robot mower for two full seasons and this year I’m back to a gas rotary.
