Dead link. 😢
Love this. You’re so right that the sport has become too intimidating for new people to get involved. Great video to show how fun and easy it is to get going
Back when I did karting 20 years ago out here in So Cal (Jim Hall Racing), everybody wore a neck brace. Nobody went without one. I'm assuming that's still the way it is. I looked into it and it seems the Valhalla 360 is popular and highly regarded. The foam donut style braces like we used to use are apparently not used any more or at least are not as much. I don't see anyone wearing a neck brace in any of these videos. 🤔
Thanks for this channel. I'm glad I found it. I would like to buy a used kart on the cheap just for fun. I'm surprised this Rotax kart was only $600!
it was 600 back in 2019. Stil bargains out there though
That suit is so tight!! 🤣🤣Fair play Alan I think you should keep doing a few more rounds
not tight enough mate.... need more tightness! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Kind of want to see your dad go out and show you up 😂 good video buddy
haha that would make a good video! Stick him on vega yellows too.
Brilliant video mate. Cracked me up a few times 🤣
thanks appreciate it :)
That was a great video, thank you. You are actually a good racer as you would start last and then work your way up through the pack. Well done.
bike tire pumps are a great backup in case your air compressor breaks, or you're on a budget like this
Sounds a bit fancy to me 😂😂
Congrats!
You should have a go and join the new budget friendly championship called GX UK ran by Access karting
I almost brought my specced out gx390 birel kart to the stretton series but then exams said no haha
awesome content
Natural karter well done.
Do you transport your car in an suv
The best training for karting is more karting. 3 events and you'll be used to it.
I’ll happily buy the kart of you when your done with it mate lol just trying to find my first kart at the moment
Well a few things to fix first and then it may become available.
Where are looking for a kart at the moment? What are you after?
@@AlanDoveKarting ok great I mean 100 percent I’d be interested if it becomes available 👍 currently just searching through Facebook marketplace and eBay?
Im after a senior rotax kart ideally tony kart, I am a complete noob when it comes to the actual karts themselves as this will be my first kart.
@@jonniewaters7484 what's your local club?
@@AlanDoveKarting I’d say it will be camberley mate
@@jonniewaters7484 get on their FB group and ask what karts people have. facebook.com/groups/173782432634880
I found that as a good way to find bargains.
i got lucky my kart was only 900 pounds for a complete kart. the engine died a few weeks so i said screw it and splashed out on an evo max
Is the Tony Kart Exprit 2021 Racer 401R with Rotax Max Evo Senior engine any good? I'm new to karting. Thanks! Awesome vid btw man
cheers, It all depends on what you want to race. It'll do the job no problem if local clubs meetings are what you are after and they have a rotax class.
@@AlanDoveKarting I would ideally like to work my way up and enter relatively big competitions 😜 Are rotax engines the most commonly used?
@@SconHeadVideos in terms of high performance sprint karting yes they are the most common. I can't lie, they aren't my favourite engine on the planet, but the market has spoken clearly with them :) Have fun and good luck. Just get out there and start learning. That's the main thing.
Great vid mate 🤙🏽im trying to do the same cheap kart just somewhere to start like yourself how was the Reliability of the 125 max because I think that will be the main cost for me maintaining it
Costs are a complex thing to pin down in karting because they are a multivariate thing. The most cheap 'on-the-surface' might actually be more expensive in the long run due to a number of factors. This challenge was just getting out there and racing and not having all the other BS to deal with.
A Rotax MAX will plod along pretty happily for a good few hours if that's what you're after. They are generally very solid on that front as they are a road derived engine. But the reality is you don't know until you try. I've got a leaky radiator I need to fix. They are £100+ s/h and £250 new, so have to think about how I can fix it myself instead for much less cost. So if you keep budget in mind, you CAN do it but set your expectations and good luck.
@@AlanDoveKarting thanks mate i am going to go through with it but ive missed the start of a league I wanted to enter so ill just have to wait for next season ffs😂
@@asc1083 wait for a league? I'd worry more about just getting laps under your belt at this stage over competition. As you can see no matter how good you are if you're not race fit it doesn't matter a jot :)
@@AlanDoveKarting yeh i agree with you i just wanna get use to actually battling and racing people just like you said in the video it does get tiring quick so be working on that aswell
I never had any rotax engine die on me if maintained well, they're really strong engines, Iame X30 needs alot more maintenance.
Alan- The Anti social kart club lol
why were you so winded you race all the time and have for many years right? genuine question, i know certain tracks can make me physically sick. Also what can I do in my spare time to be a better racing driver? play with engines? I already do sim, but don't really understand the engines
I don't race all the time. I drive very very rarely. It used to be like once or twice a year on average before 2020. I haven't really had decent kart fitness since I was about 11. This race was the first time driving a kart for about three years bar the 8 laps I did at Whilton 2 weeks ago and I haven't really been doing any physical training.
Stretton is particularly tiring though. it's anti-clockwise and is pretty much non stop. No real straights.
If you want to be a better driver get 'Master the Art of Kart Driving by Terence Dove'. It's all in there :)
On the engine front, maybe get yourself a simple direct drive engine and play with it. Nothing beats just getting on with it.
Rember me when your famous 😏
Man buy a £5 neck protector and you will feel much more comfortable
I personally didn't find a cheap neck protector to help with supporting the neck. Admittedly, I'm probably more out of form than most given my specialist racing diet of kebabs and beer, and nearly 2 years and a bit out of the seat too. Definitely useful for reducing the chances of whiplash at least, though.
@@GP_Alessio15 those cheap neck protector provide some support and I think it does the job if someone hits you from the behind (I race a lot of rentals). After buying my first one, I can't race without it anymore ... But thanks for replying, I like your channel and you inspired to buy my first vintage 100cc air cooled engine. I will have a video training with him soon. I would be happy if you followed my channel and watched my video with the 100cc :) - SORRY for the long post
@@kartaroundtheworld Just in case, I’m not Alan but some other bugger ;) funnily enough though, same story as to how I came to buy my first 100cc (I’ve now spunked a lot of cash on a new Evo Rotax to get track time without ‘many’ headaches though) - will take a look at your channel anyway
@@GP_Alessio15 ahhaha fair enough ! Thanks for clarifying mate
I have a 4 strokes that is very reliable, so I needed some more garage time (instead of track time) ahhaha
