My mom used to play this alot until 2,5 years ago. She got a disease where her arms and eventually her entire body would get weak. This song always puts a smile on my face because I think its very pleasant to listen to.
I will never listen to this the same way than before because she has passed at 48 years old and I was only 16 years old...

Just a word of advice for people who are struggling to play this song because of not fully understanding the timing or struggling to learn both hands:
Make sure that you don't try and learn both hands at the same time- if you're having trouble it's best to really concentrate on the timing of individual hands (or at least that's what worked for me) also about the people who can't play it because of small hands and octaves and stuff; have you tried improvising the parts that you find difficult to play? Granted,It may not sound as good as the original, but it's better than letting the size of your hands limit what pieces you play :) (Ik the struggle I first played this piece when I was 12 and had to stretch my hands out until I felt like my fingers were being pulled off, bad times tbh)
But either way, once you've listened to the piece a few times and really understand the structure it's not as hard as it looks :)

Corbin Doucette, though with some pieces what you have said is true, this song inparticular requires delicate and precise finger placements, that can only be developed with hours of practise. I think that OC was right in his advice. Practise hands separately until you are VERY confident (especially with the right hand!)

Actual trash another tip is to SLOW DOWN you’d be surprised how much it really helps when you slow down and take your time in each section. You won’t even think you’re playing fast a first but when you really slow down- say to like 40% the speed of the piece it really helps when you go back to full speed

As a pianist myself, I don't consider my musical capabilities as a talent but instead, something I've acquired because of my discipline. But nonetheless, I agree with the rest of what you've said. Performing classical music is indeed unmatched in any genre of music!

    • @hmvollbanane1259

At least playing is more about discipline than anything else. I have very few talent for it, but with enough determination I am slowly (don't have much time for it anymore) but surely learning this piece.
Of course there are also talented (and still very disciplined and hard training) people who can play songs by just reading the notes or after a couple of repetitions, but with enough persistence anyone regardless of talent can play stuff like Für Elise and this song (they are pretty much the gateway from beginner/intermediate pieces to the actually hard stuff) and Mozart in particular seemed to have had a hand for "pleasant" handmovements as e.g. the faster part in this after the accords just feels completely natural to play whereas with other pieces/composers there are often some traps where you have to play something different than what your mind would expect - which takes, at least me, a ton of time to memorize, whereas in this piece everything from beginning to end just seems to flow seamlessly into eachother

This brought me memories from childhood.
When I was a child, my sister received electronic piano with small display as a gift. The piano had some songs save inside of it and you could turn on a mode where it would show you which keys you have to press in order to play the selected song correctly.
And because I was small to understand notes from paper, I learned this whole song by that small display showing me what key to press and then I was playing it from memory almost as quickly as original.
A lot of people were impressed by how I managed to learn something like this. But today I don’t think I would be able to play it again.

A lot of times there are Synthesia videos, the audio is actually someone playing (because Synthesia's computer-generated audio sounds rubbish), they just don't show it. Sheet Music Boss is an example of this. If you pay close attention, the audio is far too natural and good sounding to have come from a computer algorithm. You need only listen to MuseScore to hear the difference between person and computer.
I have the honour to be your obedient servant,
      E. Pedante

I’m about to learn this song lol. Wish me luck, i’ll keep you updated
Update day 1 : i could already play the 1st page pretty smoothly altough still a bit under tempo✨
Update day 3 : almost finished with my 2nd page, but still need to smooth it out, but completly finished w 3rd page as it is almost the same ast the first page
Update day 5 : the second page’s already smoother, i also started learning the fourth page, i could already roughly play it🎼
Update day 6 : i could already play the whole song roughly and under tempo, i’m currently working to smooth the song
Update day 11 : i could already play the 1 st and 3rd page in its original tempo, also half of the 4th page. I need tp work with the second page and the last half of the fourth page. Fifth page seems okay.
Update day 18 : i finally finished this piece. I could play it smoothly altough it’s not perfect (i still hit some wring notes sometimes) but i’m really happy with the result!
❄️ to all of you who wanted to learn this song, give it a try, it’s not as hard as you think with some practice❄️
Some tips that might help you learn this piece :
⭐️ when you start, play it really slowly - i know that we might be tempted to play it fast, but it might just make you frustrated if you play it too fast when you are just beggining to practice this song plus you might have to redo a lot of parts if you practice this too fast
⭐️ focus on your fingering, i find this really improtant
⭐️ focus on page two or the second part since i think it is the hardest
    GOOD LUCK!
Sorry for the long comment, have a good day everyone 🧸

I have been playing piano for 4 years now, and every time I get frustrated, or need some inspiration, and sure enough, Rousseau had my song there. I would listen to it once or twice, and then get the encouragement and motivation that I want to play like Rousseau. Although I have not been able to learn this song yet, I am along the journey of learning and studying the many other pieces of piano, and it’s history. Keep up the great music Rousseau ❤️
