I look forward to your vlogs every Sunday. Have learned so much, and it's fun to hear you going through the same things I am every year. Thanks for all that you do!
I never really had many issues with my St. Augustine here in NE FL. Fertilized 2x per year and spot treated weeds/pests and it always stayed pretty nice and healthy. Idk what the heck happened this year but it has been a nightmare. Had infestations.from several different types of bugs and weeds started to take over. Been plugging and sodding areas. I have spent so much time trying to win this war this year that it has become an obsession which is why I'm so glad I found this channel several months ago.
I'm in Jacksonville and feel your pain. Grubs, fungi, and weeds have been horrible this year. The timing of the rains did not help either. Felt like I sneak in a mow unexpectedly so the passing showers don't know I was outside.
Man when i saw that storm headed to Tampa I though of two people and you were one of them. Glad to see you came out the other side with minor damage. Thanks for all you do for all us LCN minions. Many blessing bruh
With global warmng, I live in NE FL, the temperature keeps flucutating at this time of year. One day it is cold, like 50's/60s, then the next couple of days it is in the low 80's My St Augustine grass doesn't know what it wants to do.
yeah you are close to dormancy for sure. Keeping it irrigated will keep it green longer than everyone else., Be sure to get your pre-emergent down now for sure.
Great info, thanks. I have a question. I installed provista lawn in late September. It looks nice, but I see lots of weeds popping up. Is it safe to use the weed products you mentioned, or should I wait until the grass is more mature? Also when is it safe to fertilize new lawn?
The best grass is St. Agustine with Bermuda growing within it cut at 4 inches with full of nitrogen and iron look LIKE A BAG OF MONEY. I'm in South Texas near the gulf coast. Still hot and humid. Grass growing strong.
As you stated … I too have recently ‘hosed’ signal grass with Celsius, Image, Sedge Hammer in a single spraying and it’s dead. Gone. I’m really surprised. St Augustine is slowly moving back in.
You need a grass nursery to take plugs from! I have a fescue lawn and I keep a few areas in the edge of a garden bed my backyard to steal plugs from to fill the holes whenever I find a weed to dig out or a bad spot
GREAT VIDEO!! Tropical Signal Grass will die off as we get cold winter temps….. what about Kyllinga and Sedge??? I’m in Ocala. If the winter will kill those too then I’m not going to spray…. That way I don’t stunt my growth for the next few weeks. But if it won’t, I better spray now….
Any opinions on Southern Ag Atrazine St. Augustine Weed Killer? It kills some of the weeds in my lawn, but not all of them. Does Image have a broader range of weeds that it kills that you have in the video? My lawn is getting covered in Pusley, I believe. The white-purplish weed flower. Thanks!
Fast way to lose a lot of subscribers. You do know LCN has fans on both sides of the aisle. Keep the politics out. We came here for the grass, not the 🗑️
CONFUSED… the school of thought out there is add nothing 2 days before and 2 days after lawn cutting. I’ve bought into the N ext system but don’t have enough days in the week to spray it all! Also squeezing in the pre emergent and stress blend formal with the NutriSolve takes more days than are in a month. What products are safe to mix and add together and safe for my St. Augustine lawn…. Ps. When are the hand held spreaders going to be back in stock?
That fogger kit for the EGO blower was sweet. I'm interested in something like that. The retro kits on the market now, you have to lug around your sprayer tank as well. This is all self contained. I would definitely buy one of these.
SWFL, last year 2023, hardly needed anything but Fert & Prodiamine on the lawn. This year, 2024, pretty much pulling all the chemicals off the shelf and into the yard, weeds, nut sedge, fungus, etc. Yard is looking kind of ruff going into the slow growth season. Thanks for the video.
Hi LCN, quick question I hope you can answer. I planted tall fescue in a 30x60 foot area here in Northeast PA in mid September after first putting down one inch of top soil. I put down starter fertilizer at the time of seeding and than another dose five weeks later. It is now mid November. Should I put anything down as we approach winter? Thanks so much!
Up in Tallahassee over by der… my soil temp is at 69-70 deg. And I’m mowing every 7-10days. Palisades Zoysia Slowing down for winter. I am throwing down stress blend and prodiamine this weekend…with a final app of RGS. That will be it until Jan where I’ll put down my second app of prodiamine. Sad times when heading into fall. 😢 Question: my zoysia seems to have a lot of thatch. I mow 2x week in summer…but even then I would have a lot of grass clippings. Can I dethatch zoysia?
How long should you wait to water if you put down something that needs watered in like RGS/HUMIC and something you should wait to water it in like Microgreene
@@randallhunter3912 any foliar absorption that happens will occur within just 20 minutes or so - so all good there! Also, make sure you are mulching your clippings when you mow so anything that sticks to the leaves will be recycled into the soil where we want it
Just a suggestion the next time Day flower pops up try using change up herbicide. You shouldn't need to make more than one application. Only caveat I would give is do not apply in the middle of summer when temperatures are above 85.
I saw the struggle of the middle age lawn nut. Getting the backpack sprayer on. 😂 everything is a challenge now. Once you reach an age and certain out of shape-ness. ❤
Unless I'm missing something, I don't see were anybody is talking about how high to leave the grass in the winter months! In central Florida how high should the grass be cut?
for St Augustine we leave it as tall as possible all year long. For Zoysia it's best to keep it around 2-2.5 all year long. If it gets thatchy, you can scalp it in later spring.
we have to end it somewhere so that we can re calc the program for the following year. So during winter you can just go manual apps, thrower down when it feels right lol. that's also why I wrote the FL winter guide - to give you some ideas of what I am doing.
Fwiw, if you’re talking about Allyn spraying nitrogen without PPE, you might not want to generalize chemical to include NPK or equal harmless supplements. It’s very different.
It's reassuring to know even experts have challenges in their lawn. My St. Augustine is one calamity after another.
This was not an easy year 😕

Got saltwater flooded down here by the last two hurricanes. The bright side is it killed off the clover i've been fighting for over a year!
yeah that sucks, so sorry to hear that! Hope everything gets recovered for you soon!!!

What do you recommend for salt damaged lawn and ornamentals from being submerged? St. Augustine grass, schefflera and viburnum hedges.

When is it not hot and humid in South Texas? Once in a blue moon when a front comes thru.
As you stated … I too have recently ‘hosed’ signal grass with Celsius, Image, Sedge Hammer in a single spraying and it’s dead. Gone. I’m really surprised. St Augustine is slowly moving back in.
Would you do sod pods in those areas that have a bare spot from the celsius to help it fill in faster and out compete the weeds?

Allan, I'm in Parrish I could use some advice!!!
Send some moisture up north to outside Philly! Been 30 days without rain and counting😮 record driest span of days since the 1800s

I agree, it's innovative and works great. It has it's own battery built in to run a little pump.

Hit it with Flagship as a winterizer and then you are all done for the year!
Perfect, I have 1/3 of a bag of Flagship left!!! Thanks so much as always!!!
Tropical signalgrass, aka Alexander grass. Battling it in southeast Alabama.
it's terrible
Did you throw flagship down and Nu Charge on top of the flagship?
yes both.
Do you have any idea if the Ego striping kit fits on the Ego 22” LM2206sp ?

yes you can de-thatch it, or just scalp it in spring. Scalping gets rid of thatch too so whichever is easier.
How long should you wait to water if you put down something that needs watered in like RGS/HUMIC and something you should wait to water it in like Microgreene
those all need to be watered in so you can water right away if you like
OK, thanks. I thought it was best to let the microgreene sit on the grass for a little bit

"Spray - N - Pray" & "Blanket - The - Earth" Are Swag Worthy!!! Hats / Tees!!!
Should you water in the fungicide when treating for large patch?
the one I used wants you to water it in with 1/4" when spraying from a backpack sprayer
my favorite -- "blanket the earth"
Hey when you restocking the shirts?
we are working with a new merch provider - starting with hats and then expanding back to shirts soon.
@Thelawncarenut as a big trucker hat guy the Richardson 115 hat is the best the best.
Hi Allyn. Have you ever scarify your St Augustine lawn?
no sir, we don't do that - it will kill all the stolons. YOu want your St Aug lawn to be spongy and thick. It's meant to be admired, not enjoyed.
so i pulled the dead signal grass and I have now bald spots on my lawn. Will the st augustine grass grow back and fill up the spots again?
Very slow and not now that temps are lower. I’d just sod it or plug it.
@@ArtieMcYardie thanks 👍

not St Aug, never scalp st Aug
Do you recommend dethatching
not typically
Do the local lawn care companies treat for doveweed and signal grass?
doveweed yes but there really is not anything to kill signalgrass once it grows.
What about us cousins in mid state, eastern Alabama ?
as long as you are mowing, you can be throwing!
Hey YA'ALL. Poa-Annua leaves holes in my Bermuda.
That Day flower weed has been enemy number one this year.
Dayflower and Doveweed, 2 of the arch enemy weeds of Florida
My Man back to throwin'er down!
you know it!
Florida Floratam lawn person here, is there a reason why my app calendar ends on Dec 1?
we have to end it somewhere so that we can re calc the program for the following year. So during winter you can just go manual apps, thrower down when it feels right lol. that's also why I wrote the FL winter guide - to give you some ideas of what I am doing.
