    Update for everyone that is curious.
    The stator was our problem causing no reverse. Not making correct voltage / lights would start to flicker and stalling when going into reverse!
    The flickering headlights at idle are probably the biggest sign of a weak stator.
    Hopefully this helps!

    There is no need for a fix kit on the 2016 and up 800 motors. OEM replacement works just fine. 2016 brand new spec is 125 psi. Also the axys 800 is considered bullet proof for a two-stroke mountain snowmobile engine. Those who blew up or damaged their engine early, more than likely did not use the machine properly. At 10:20 this is a cause for having low compression early. Hope this helps

    I like that you left the engine in the sled for once. Seems like everybody wants to pull the whole engine out all the time for top end rebuilds. Thanks for the info!

    Whatever ended up happening with your friend's sled. I am curious to find out how many miles you have on the top end rebuild, on the Pro X Pistons kit. Did you get the reverse issue worked out.

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  8 місяців тому +1

      The stator was the root cause of no reverse. Not a compression issue.
      The sled is still running good but unfortunately we haven’t put a lot of kms on it as this winter season has been horrible for snow ( I can still see my lawn ). I’ve never experienced a winter this warm in my entire life. Scary stuff.

      @JT2JZ The weather patterns in the past few years have been getting more and more unpredictable. I am from Wisconsin. We ended up with 50° weather Tornadoes and Large Hail, which destroyed any chances of getting back out. Put on about 250 miles in January.

      @jordanthomas2210 I live pretty close to revelstoke ( one of the best mountain sledding areas in the world ) and currently there is not enough snow to groom the trails into the alpine.
      In the past when you had a bad snow year you go to revelstoke and they always have snow no matter what. Pretty heavy drought this year.
      Im very nervous for summer. They are predicting a bad fire season now without any mountain water run off over the spring.
      I’ll keep you posted on the sled if we get it out more but it’s not looking promising.. this weekend we are using quads and dirt bikes

    I just did a video series on my channal ! I sent my cylinders to a shop to get them honed and they said we can risk a hone but we might be doing more bad then good... I then echanged them for new replated cylinders and I am so glad i did ! Started fresh with brand new wiseco pistons ! Honing a Nikasil cylinder is taking a chance... The best thing you can do is ball honing or using a scotchbrite pad. Nice video though !

    • @JT2JZ
      @JT2JZ  2 роки тому

      Ya I think the nikasil layer is extremely thin. Less is definitely more when working or refinishing them. I’ll let you know if it doesn’t work for us this season.
      Our sled is getting pretty old and rough around the edges. Basically just trying to get one more season out of it without spending a ton of money before upgrading

      The compression wasn’t much different to be honest. Maybe 5psi better if that.
