Thank you so much for this! I’ve been driving my Skooly with the original doors, but they become less and less ideal the longer I drive and it’s time to swap out.
I didnt expect to like this video based on the start. I can honestly say, thank you for this video. Very peaceful and well made door. Great editing too!
Ahahahah I was dreading it for sooooo long as well!! I would say the biggest thing is try to find a door that’s similar size to the opening…. That made it WAY easier!
@@AndersandAndersen Ok that makes sense. I wish you would have recorded it 🥺 I'm so lost on some of this build. I have about a month before we turn in the keys to the house & the bus will be permanent home. I'm at the point were I don't care what it looks like as long as it works 🤣. For a glitter unicorn thats hard for me.
You should definitely be proud of your work! Looks amazing! Support from your family is fantastic! Did you know your dad did a little dance before editing ? Love it!
Wouldn’t be able to do it without my dad or his fancy dance moves! One of the best things about editing is going through all the footage, I had no clue he was dancing…. But I should have expected it from him 😂
Your frame is going to rot. Cover the aluimium with door casing install a drip edge over the top and caulk and paint it very little maintenance even year. And install a threshold at the bottom. You can buy exterior door casing made of. plastic that will never rot. Just trying to save you time and money The door looks great.
Couldn’t agree more! UA-cam is just a little snippet of life but I did immediately trim the entire door with aluminum casing and caulked the entire perimeter of the door! Super important part of the process that just didn’t make it into this video.
Did you have to do anything to the hinges to keep them secure (from the pin popping out, or being forced out for someone breaking in) since they are on the exterior of the bus?
Super important to know! I have a lot of space behind the fridge and I was thinking to put vents into the other cabinets as well. Trial and error I guess!
Real nice!!! What did you put behind the plywood on the entrance of the door? Did you add silicone? And what screws did you use to drill framing on the entrance plz, thanks🙏
On the steps I put down a rust protective paint to make sure that if any moisture happens to get down there that it won’t cause rust. I’ll then paint the plywood with a mold protective primer to be safe as well. I did add silicone all the way around the outside of the frame just to seal everything. For screws I used a few different styles. Because the wood was so thick I used decking screws in a few places, but wherever possible if there was contact with the existing metal frame I used self-tapping metal screws to create a really strong frame. Let me know if you have any other questions!
This has to be the most peaceful door install ever! Love your dads moves when the door was out 😂
Ahahahha my dad has by far the best moves!!!
Thanks for the video, this is the next step on my bus! I was really daunted too but you made it look reasonable🙏🙌
omg cute!!!!!
Thank you! 🥰🥰

@@AndersandAndersen I haven't found a door the size of mine yet. 😢 I'm considering making some kind of frame with what I have
@@pearlaudelo1366 that’s what I did! I had to frame out the opening to fit the door perfectly!

Dear Conner, I can really see YOU through your door. 👁️👁️🚌
Peek a boo 👻
@@AndersandAndersen I suggest a curtain/shade over your glass door because of all the peepers/onlookers.

So amazing Con ❤️

Nice work
Ok that is a great door. can you tell us more about where you found it?
I actually just found on Facebook marketplace! Got very lucky!
Looks nice. Would like to know how you sealed the flashing to keep water from rotting out the wood framing
I have a 21 month old daughter. I have started to plot out how I can make a more secure door for our safety while moving and while inside
I liked the door, not so much with the flashing.
Ahahah I totally get that! I’m going to be painting the flashing so it will blend in with the rest of the bus!
After 2 years, how has the glass held up? Any problems from travel vibrations? I'm curious to know if you have had any second thoughts. Thanks.
Looks great! Where did you get the door? I'm having trouble finding one with glass this large
Hey how wide was your door opening and what size is your door? Im in the process of planning to do my door area.
Did you have to do anything to the hinges to keep them secure (from the pin popping out, or being forced out for someone breaking in) since they are on the exterior of the bus?
I was watching a video and the guy was saying how important it was to vent your fridge. Not sure if you were aware.

Where did you get the door? Is it a storm door?

Looks great! Do you need to caulk around the flashing to keep water out?
You bet I do!!! That’s top of the list for this week :)
