- Hello and welcome to Saabkyle04! UA-cam's largest collection of automotive variety! In today's video, we will take an up close and personal in depth look at the 2006 Ford Crown Victoria LX Sport. A more sport oriented version of the body on frame V8 RWD car we've all become familiar with. It can be thought of as similar styling of a modern impala SS from the 90s. More closely related to Mercury's Marauder without the cobra V8. Dual exhaust, air ride suspension with tuned springs and a sport styled interior, quite the awesome combo for fans of these legendary vehicles! During this presentation, we will take a 1st person look at what the car is all about beginning with the start up, performance data, fuel economy, the occasional track data, and build quality. Also, I will teach you how to use most of the interior and exterior features in a detailed fashion, that before, you could only get from going to a dealership yourself! Throughout the video, I will highlight key styling and unique differences about the vehicle, any available options, and of course it would not be an enthusiast car video without the good ole engine portion with rev and exhaust note with interior and exterior perspectives. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle. FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE CHANNEL SEE BELOW: In this channel you will find in depth reviews/tour of automobiles from all over the world, presented in a more detailed fashion than ever before. Basically, this gives the viewer the chance to view the most detailed 1st person look you can get without going to an actual dealer yourself! Every video is consistent in the way I present so viewers know what to expect in my presentations. I treat every vehicle with the same respect whether a 1960 Chevrolet Impala SS or the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador. I film all types of vehicles from past, present, and future while broadening the knowledge of the automotive enthusiast. You will see everything from vintage, brand new, exotic, mainstream, old, etc. I am very proud of this channel and have built it up from amateur videos years ago to what you see today. I wanted to share my love for the automotive world with the rest of the world. Be sure to explore the massive video variety, have fun and enjoy The Driver's Seat of UA-cam! That engine crank-sound is legendary.
I know some people might think this is a stretch, but I’m going to say it anyways, this could be the best car ever made!
You not lying 🥲
I believe it is one of the best cars ever made!!
I've been saying that for the longest and people and also friends look at me like either im dumb or dont know what I'm talking about. They just don't what makes a great vehicle "Great".
100% agreed. Only thing I can think of off the top of my head that competes is the Toyota LC70, but they don't even sell them here. Toyotas in general are just well built cars
One of the last great v8 sleeper sedans we will ever see
+ForzaHotRodder The V8 these days, at least with Ford, only exists for tradition's sake. The V6 engines in today's Taurus are anything but wimpy. Hell, a 3.5 Ecoboost in an F-150 has more torque than the Coyote V8 (but the V8 is still the next best thing and has the most horsepower). Don't get me wrong though, even though I can't argue with progress, I'm a bit of a traditional guy myself and would probably ignore the differences and get the V8 in a truck or even a Mustang. And the Crown Vic is still my favorite sedan, I'm still disappointed that Ford stopped making them and would drive one in a heartbeat if I was given the chance.
+ForzaHotRodder Well yeah, I wasn't really trying to argue, I just thought that it was a bit much to imply that the V6 hasn't gone through better refinement over the years. (this coming from a guy whose favorite V6 is an old 4.0 in an Explorer, go figure). Like I said If I was picking a newer vehicle I would probably pick the V8 anyway because they fit the style better. Then again I'd pick a 90s vehicle over anything made today anyway. So yeah, I agree that old is good. Not sure if that renders my point meaningless or not because I'm starting to look like a hypocrite.
+ForzaHotRodder ha! "wimpy 6" both 3.5 non turbo and 3.5 turbo. Are way faster then the V8. The only thing that would make the Taurus better if it was RWD
+ForzaHotRodder
lol my datsun 1.5l has more power per liter than any v8 ever made. and my block is from 1960s
+ForzaHotRodder The 3.7l Taurus interceptor has awd and will out run the crown vic.
I still love Crown Vics
Am I the only one who misses the crown Vic
Golden Retriever I think everyone misses this car
I miss them
I like it too
I had a crown Victoria as a rental car and it was awesome wish ford would bring the crown Victoria back
No, i do too
Definition of sleeper car.
No
That’s the merc marauder
With its 9 second 0-60 time despite the V8? Lol there’s a reason cops went to using V6 Chargers and Explorers
Boat Sleeper :-)
Why did they have to discontinue such a great car?
I emailed Ford a few weeks ago asking them why they discontinued the Crown Victoria. They responded by telling me that it was due to the shift in the market from rear wheel to front wheel drive, and that over the past several years their sales declined from over 250,000 units per year to about 90,000 units annually.
No wonder the sales declined. It became a fleet vehicle in 2008. If it would've been available to the general public, the sales would've remained high enough to stay in production. I mean rental companies, and police can only purchase so many units. So it was just a matter of time. Thanks a lot Ford...
It's just a shame, that's all.
Its because the ford taurus came out and it was faster and better gas mileage
76Schoeneberg30 Yeah
This car is damn popular in my country Saudi Arabia , you will see it every where in every cities and street you must see it, even police use it as patrol car , Because here the gas is cheaper than water so V8 is not problem
I want this as my first car.
I have one and in high school, everyone will ask a ride from you
Mark R I'm getting a BMW
I had its twin, a Lincoln Town Car, as mine. Total grandpa mobile, but it was smooth, quiet, comfortable, and cheap to insure. It also familiarized me with large RWD V8 powered vehicles, so it wasn't an adjustment when I bought my Mustang GT a few years later. I had 260,000 trouble free miles on that car before a Mazda side swiped me one day running a red light. If you can find a clean Vic, Grand Marquis, or Town car go for it! They're cheap and usually well taken care of by elderly owners.
Mark R I got a 02 Santa fe. Not too bad, but, like you, I wanted the crown victoria lol
Did you get one?
My love this car! I love Crown Victoria! The best car.
Can't believe Ford shitcanned such a great model. It's iconic and a true modern classic unlike the recent Mustangs.
I know right? It's much better than the current Taurus in my opinion.
***** that's not entirely accurate...the late 90's and early 2000's did erupt if you hit the rear-end hard enough...but around 04', Ford did add a fire-suppressant bladder that would go off after being hit from the rear to prevent any fires....but the car was in need of an update, most certainly the power-train and drive-train as they remained the same since 1992
***** That is complete bullshit man, in fact one of the selling points of this car especially the police version is that it passed 75mph rear end crash test and the gas tank would remain intact, this car was all about safety, it's built like a tank, they stopped production because all good things must come to an end, simple as that, car models don't last forever, remember the ford ranger? Everyone's favorite little pick-up truck? That's gone too. The Kawasaki Police 1000 bike was the only motorcycle used by police for 30 years, but then for no reason it stopped being made in 2005. It doesn't matter if the police use it, for some reason the best of the best just ceases to exist one day for no apparent reason. That's life.
It's sad that Ford discontinued in my opinion their best car. Tough as nails, huge trunk, great ride. 20 cubic feet of trunk space, which is more than you get on the new Impalas or Avalons. MY2004 and onwards were not affected by the fuel tank issue. Ford's updates to the interior for the 2006 model perfected it.
Thank government mandated stability control. The Crown Vic didn't have it, and wouldn't be allowed to sell after 2011 without it. I'm honestly not a Ford guy, but this and the Ranger are perhaps the only two more recent Ford models I will actually buy. Proud owner of a 2008 P71, still going strong at 120k miles.
*****
Earlier models were prone to fuel tank fires. And Ford was sued by police departments over the issue. Part of the problem with the fire hazard was the installation of police equipment trays and accessories in the trunk. During the installation holes were drilled in the trunk floor for the screws to go into. The fuel tank could have been pierced. In high speed collisions, screws and bolts can easily puncture the gas tank, as can accessories not properly secured. Ford solved the issue by installing a protective plate over the fuel tank, and a kevlar trunk liner. They also marked areas in the trunk floor which are not safe to drill. Optional was a fire suppression system. The later models of the Crown Victoria passed Ford's 75mph rear crash test without catching fire. There was a case where a newer CV had a fuel tank fire, but it was rear ended by another vehicle doing 100mph. When it was on sale, the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor was the ONLY police vehicle on the market with a 75mph rear end crash rating.
Departments eventually were satisfied with the actions taken by Ford to correct these issues. There's a reason why the Crown Victoria still dominated the police market until it's end. If departments were so afraid of the car catching fire, they could have easily opted for the faster Dodge Charger or more economical Impala.
The whole issue of rear end collisions could have been curbed if other drivers paid closer attention. It's a good idea to move over for stopped emergency vehicles. Many states now have such a law. Even slowing down would have saved lives. Officer training has changed to stress visibility to traffic. Newer LED lighting equipment further improves visibility.
No vehicle can survive every single high speed rear end collision. Personally I don't like Ford. However, the Crown Victoria is an automotive icon that deserves to be remembered. I am perfectly happy with my 2008 P71. It's a safe, dependable car, virtually indestructible, and very reliable. The 4.6 motors are known to be able to clock 300k miles. If you have a CV as a daily driver, why worry about being rear ended at 60+mph? In typical driving conditions, a closing speed of 40mph is about as high as one can experience. Take your ignorance and Ford-bashing elsewhere.
My God, this was one of my most favorite cars back when I was a toddler and it still is today.
This is beautiful car ❤️
I allwas wanted a vic but got a 04 marauder instead. for my 16th birthday last week I love it
Firstname Lastname you are sixteen years old and are you driving a car?
Ali Can Çalık I got my license when I was 16. Learners Permit when I was 15.
+Ali Can Çalık yeah its normal in america
+Ali Can Çalık I'm 16 and I got a crown vic police interceptor last year
Ali Can Çalık yeah I have had my permit since last year
Hopefully in the next few months, I'll be making this my next car.
This is my dream car!! Awesome job Kyle.
There's this really old trick my dad taught me when I was a child, I forgot in the Crown Vic or the Taurus, but if you press 2 and 6 on the radio, your sound will transfer to different sides.
To be clearer, It will be Front left, then back left, back right, then front right.
I used to like doing that. :D
I dunno if it works on newer models, they both were '99.
I never knew this, it actually works! Thanks! :D
Horseshit🐎💩
Sweet Jesus, I want this car. I never would have imagined liking these cars. I've had three Thunderbirds and an Intrepid before I ended up with a 95 Grand Marquis and grew to love it. The size takes some getting used to, and you will never fit into a tight parking spot, but it really is fun to drive and will do everything you ask of it.
This car was manufactured by God himself!
These cars also smell really good
YES THEY DO LOL OMFG
Zachary Caldwell they do don't they. I peeped that.
That ‘new car smell’ never fades in these things, unless your a cigarette smoker😂
This interior in an interceptor would be amazing
i gotta say, this guy is very knowledgeable about every car he presents. His videos are very insightful and well made. Good job kyle, keep the vids coming...
Love your reviews, Saabkyle. Keep it runnin!
Wow Kyle you never cease to amaze me. I was just looking for reviews on this exact same car!
I'm the proud owner of a black 2011 Crown Vic. I absolutely love it. Exceptionally well built and so durable.
Still have it
Unparalleled class, timeless style. This is the car for the sophisticated gentleman and the refined connoisseur. Many a time have i been escorted in the back seat of one of these beauties. Once such time i was in the park, appreciating nature and enjoying the subtle accents of a fine wine until i spotted a robotically simulated pigeon sent by the government to spy on me (the fools think i'm unaware of their shenanigans). I made to chase the electric demon-bird away until a gentleman pulled over in his beautiful two-toned Crown Victoria and quite insisted to chauffeur me to his home for the evening. "STOP RESISTING," he yelled as I attempted to respectfully decline. Thinking him perhaps lonely, but certainly a man of class and taste based on his choice of vehicle, I accepted.
Unfortunately, the man's house did not reflect his fine taste in automobiles, for it was a drafty and unpleasant shell of concrete with heavy barred (and quite malfunctioning) doors. He was evidently very lonely and desperate to keep company, for he disallowed myself and the other fellows there from leaving until he decided that we could. And his friends! A most unpleasant collection of inebriated rubes. The man was certainly a poor host, but his taste in company was even worse.
But say la vee, as they say. I don't know why they're telling me to say "la vee" but I suspect it's some mind control tactic by the nefarious government to turn me in to some kind of Manchurian candidate. The ruffians!
I had a 2010 crown vic retired police interceptor, best car I ever owned, I wish I never got rid of it. had 150k miles on it and still ran and drove like it just came out of the factory. took it on road trips and it did amazing. never gave me a single issue
Owned 3 of these. Great cars! I want the marauder a dream car of mine
moon roof and heated seats were very rare options on crown victoria and marquis
It's so strange seeing a Crown Victoria without the column shifter.
Best cop car ever. My wife had on when I married her. Great car never let us down. Years later I'm a proud murcury grand marquis owner. Fantastic ride. Love it.
I bought my 2005 Crown Vic Sport (NEW) June 2006. $10,000 off sticker on clearance sale. Still own it. No plans on trade in or selling it. GREAT CAR!!!
Do you still have it 👀
Boat car! I own a crown vic and ill tell you they haul ass and feel like luxury. Reliable, American, and comfortable. You barely feel bumps going over them. Only downside is the car is massively long due to excessive trunk space (which is also amazing!). I had a couple dingers on the front bumper when parking in tight spaces. You really have to get used to it first. Great car tho! Rides like a bullet.
I own the same car only its a retired police car comfy but also hauls serious ass! I feel like a boss drving my Crown vic and it attracts chicks too!
I think of buying a used Crown Vic,would you recommend it or a Mercury Grand Marquis?
Thanks man, I have also decided to buy a fully loaded Crown Victoria too, enjoy yours!
*****
Well whether it's American or not makes no difference to me. However these cars are extremely reliable. I bought mine with 40k miles and now has 208k. I've only had to do fluid changes and that's it. These panthers are fucking tanks. Especially when taxi services rack them up to 500k+
DecrepitOrigin888 I changed my oil every 5k never went over and only used fully synthetic. Spark plugs and trans oil every100k. Haven't bothered to do the rear end. However if you would like to know more about these cars check out CrownVic.net It's a GREAT forum dedicated to marauders, Crown Vics and Grand Marquis of all years. There's A LOT of information on that website from 6 speed manual kits to engine swap info to general tech.
Any car can be reliable with proper maintenance. However, when I'm cruising down the road at 80MPH and only turning 1900RPM's that speaks to me. Due to being a V8, it allows low end torque and allows the engine to spin MUCH slower than today's I4-V6's. The engineering that went into this car is almost perfect. ONLY complaint I have is with a 2.73 rear end the 4.6's 250HP is a bit anemic and ford should have stuck a 5.4 SOHC inside instead. I plan on swapping a 5.4 SOHC from a similar year because the 5.4 and 4.6 share the exact same heads. Just a block swap and computer tune is all she will need.
ALSO, I would like to point out that I get between 22-27MPG's 15% city driving 75% Highway driving from Fort Collins to Denver daily. Not bad and only $40 a tank a week. Totally worth it to me with the tradeoffs. Being front engine RWD is a huge advantage to anyone who works on their own cars also. I can reach every single part under the hood without having to remove parts like most FWD's do. Cramming EVERYTHING under the hood is asinine and drives me up a wall when people ask for help fixing their cars.
Now that is a sweet ride, I would LOVE to have it!
What a beautiful Crown Vic! Great vid as always Kyle!
Love this car!
HEY GUYS ITS ME!
I have one of these. The best car ever made
I recently bought a 2008 Crown Victoria P71 for $3000. Already done 10,000 km in it and its been great. I really like the civilian version tho.
The classic cars shall never die.
Nice vehicle! I have a '98 Police interceptor. The old girl still runs great! Ford should've continued production in my opinion.
Agreed
Still runs great
Best car ever!
Great review Kyle!
Great car! I live in the UK and love the big american saloons. Brilliant. Keep up the good work Kyle, love your videos.
I heard the engines in these cars were really good.
Yup, very reliable.
The 4.6 liter in these run forever with very few problems.
A big fat V8 tuned to churn out very less than it's capable of. Runs and runs and runs.
To me, I think its the last great car that was built, you can't beat a V8 and RWD. Its really sad that we are losing cars like this to the EU crap that's being imported.
i also really like this car i would buy one if i would become one here in europe, and i also dont like european cars that much but the american cars really waste much fuel, and maybe many people in the usa dont want such cars because of the costs.
Chrysler 300, Chevy ss, dodge charger they still make em.
cuzimaluzer777 But no longer RWD, plus the Charger and 300 are lacking in interior space due to those massive center consoles that jack up your footroom.
Hakeem Mulholland Umm, Dodge Challenger, camaro, mustang, all v8 rwd idk what ur talking about
john foster, Those are smaller sports cars with much less room.
I never knew Ford made such a model of this car! Very unique Crown Victoria there and you were lucky to find one. Interior is nice and the body looks good with everything blacked out. I love the sound of that 4.6 with the dual exhaust too!!
Really this the best classic car I love it very much. Ford Crown Vectoria is the best classic car I have ever seen.
I love my 98 they are great cars good all around car
Wow, im 15 and this is such a sexy car :)
@saabkyle04 I've seen one once. I was driving down the road and I said holy crap it's a Marauder. I can't wait until you find one. Just want to also say, I love your vids and when I was shopping for my cadillac, I used your videos as guides. Love your work bro
LOVE the sound of that V8 when it cranks. My work car is a '96 Town Car Executive.
I can imagine all the cars withing vicinity to slam on brakes or drive very cautiously if you were to drive this Crown Vic in black. Yes there's no visible markings & lights/sirens but most Undercover cop cars omits them too.
Even seeing one on the rear-view mirror will make someone cautious :)
+Trades46 Agreed. Even non-car savvy people instantly recognize those headlights and that grille. Even the Grand Marquis sometimes has that effect.
if i founded my own car company i want to continue selling this under my badge. nothing will change just the badge.
I want the Crown Victoria, the rev sounds very good and probably glacierous.
My dad had 98 Crown Victoria.. it was a beast
they should make thid car again
They won't, 2011 was the final year of the Ford Crown Victoria.
And export them to various countries.
Loooove ford ❤❤
I am in love!
You have really nice cars keep up the good work
I have to get one of these one day.
My grandpop got a 2011 for just 19,000 $ $ $
@Armando Sturzenegger You replied to a 4 year old comment
What a nice car this is like 1000000% better than the overpriced german garbage cars
76Schoeneberg30 garbage yes
Lol! You may be talking about the "German" cars made in America. But that is the reason. All American cars, except for the Ford Mustang, are trash and deserve to become illegal. The Germans, on the other hand, while they are expensive, they make up for it with reliability, craftsmanship, better tech, performance, fuel economy, etc. Sorry you can't afford one and start trashing on it.
How are luxury cars reliable
Joni Johnson German cars are garbage. High quality interior materials don't mean anything when you're stranded on the side of the highway when something breaks because of all the electronic shit jam packed into German cars nowadays.
***** electronic shit? My Audi A8 has been used since the year 2013, and I have done about 105,000 km with it, so you can infer that I have used it very much. No problems at all with electronics, it's just that I know how to maintain my car, unlike you dumbasses, who don't know how to even go to the service and do some proper maintenance
man i love watching your vids!
Thank you... thank you I wanted a car like this to be on your channel!!!
i hear these cars are real reliable is that true? also wat do u guys think of the 97 model
You obviously don't drive if You say "Wat" and "U"
one of the things that i want do in my life is to own crown Victoria
really nice car love the sound quality of the stereo .
car is so nice .love that it's luxury and sporty .sounds really nice to when you step on the gas.
very nice, great bass
Would look even better with the CVPI honeycomb grille on the front.
Get out of here with that poverty garbage. This isnt some beat to shit old cop car thats only useful for cop wannabes and taxi companies.
Mr Anderson Gee, all I did was say that it would look better with a honeycomb grille.
If I may suggest, drink a little less coffee then maybe you won't overreact next time.
That escalated quickly
+David McClelland No kidding.
seriouslly? They change the column shifter to a traditional type of shifter? Why would they do that?
+Bender Rodriguez modernization?
only on the sport from 2004-2006
i think that the traditional is better
+Bender Rodriguez Gives it a sportier look and feel. They did the same thing on the Marauder.
Roger That Traditional = less interior space and footroom due to massive center console
She’s a beautiful Crown Vic!
Awesome car!
I love the Crown Victoria only thing is about the LX sport I don't like is the console shift unlike the regular Crown Victoria which has a column mounted shifter
+joeseff baggett was that shifter only availabble on the lx crown victoria?
no it was also on the mercury counterpart the marauder
This video was great. Great car.
Crown Vic was a legend, hopefully ford stars making it again.
I like your videos kyle, please keep doing it.
Nice ride
Man I’m having a blast 💥 with my 2007 LX Sport/FFV
I friggin love the crown vic
Cool car! The Ford Crown Victoria LX is one my favorite cars!!!
Well done 👍
Bellissima auto! Mi fa impazzire!
I've owned 3 of these, still have 2 black ones, 02 and 03. The 02 has logged near 170K miles with only ever having to replace a blower fan control. Reliability is one reason they go from police force to taxi service. Someone mentioned this cars counterpart as the Marauder. That is mostly true from 03 on. The Marauder was built in 03 and 04 when the suspension was beefed up to build it and the Sport Vic. The Marauder had one significant extra though, double overhead cams which helped achieve over 300 HP. The 03 and beyond also received rack and pinion, a BIG improvement over the slush box that was the old steering gear. And on top of that, they ride very nicely. The one downside is the styling is very long in the tooth, but still nice lines overall. Cheers!
I love these cars.
Great! Thank You!
BEST CAR EVER ! . greetings from Saudia Arabia :)
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you, your girlfriend, and family Kyle. I hope to see a lot more of you next year.
these and the mercury marauder are awesome cars
Thanks for the video -- I might actually go buy this car.
Awesome...
Now this is a Crown Vic you WANT to be in!
Beautiful car!!
I love it! My favorite car :D
So you know it all! Glad we have the same views on that.
I love that car
I LOVE THIS CAR
Just test drove an '07 CVPI today with 60k miles. Was an old supervisor car and drove EXTREMELY well.
it so nice to see cars in HD now
this is my favorite car in the world, im a huge pontiac fan but this car is right up there with the firebirds and gtos. I MUST HAVE THIS CAR WITH MAGNAFLOW EXHAUST!!!
Beautiful beast
