I'm definitely a fan :) Just a couple of questions: 1) Do you still give accordion lessons over Skype? 2) Yesterday I happened to watch your video about the Moschino system but I've realised it is almost impossible to get an accordion like that (especially in the land down under where I live). Unit 1 (classes 1-3) Intro to audiation, pitch and rhythm | Foundation: tonality and meter Unit 2 (classes 4-6) Idea of tonality, Rhythmic proprioception, written melodies, written rhythms Unit 3 (classes 6-9) Unit 3: Harmony I and V, tensions of the major scale, polyrhythm and syncopation You're probably familiar with the ideas intellectually, but the aim of this class is to give a foundation of musicianship skills and an inner understanding and framework for making expressive personal music, and mastering the language of music. This Level 1 class is similar but quite a bit different than the first two times I taught. If you're interested, sign up and try it out, even if you took the class the first time. I have new and improved ideas and methods, and my concept is based mostly on building the inner musicianship skills for hearing and understanding music. We will be using the solfege: do, re, mi, fa sol etc. and a system of rhythmic counting called 'takadimi'. Check out the full T&M Lvl. 1 curriculum here. All classes start the week of July 6th and run through Sept. 18th. I am very flexible for rescheduling or altering the schedule for anything you may have going on.
Try this with a button accordion. You already know perfectly the diminished chords and all their inversions in all the keys even if you never tried a button accordion before. The sixth chords are simple too.
Well more than that, any 6th chord occurs in 2 columns of CBA. Guess what lies on the unused 3rd column? The related (leading tone) diminished 7th chord. Barry Harris in a box.

Hi Red. In my opinion, no you don't need to learn piano first before you start accordion. I think the process of learning accordion will teach you the piano keyboard. I'm happy to hear you enjoy the videos I've posted.
The question was not for me. But I answer as for you. At 7 years old I learned to play the accordion. I went to play the piano at 18 years old. I had never played a piano before.
