Peter Hook and the Light are covering the New Order songs better than New Order themselves. They know where the emotions are coming from in the songs and that is exactly what makes them better than New Order. The Light knows their songs and can convey the exact feeling or vibe of the song while New Order seems like a bunch of cover artists who never really thought about the message and the atmosphere which the song caused. New Order isn't the wild and anti-mainstream band anymore they were in the 80s that made them so good. In fact, it feels like they made a 180 degree turn. The perfect example is ,,Be a rebel". The song is made for radio (ca. 3:33 min.)! Typical and boring song structure ( verse, chorus, verse...), the song has neither irritating lyrics or very meaningful lyrics( which is a very typical New Order thing) and the song is built around the vocals and not the bass or a melody. And this attitude from New Order is rubbing off on their live performances. Blue Monday's live versions aren't unique anymore, the bass in the Perfect Kiss seems muted like in a true mainstream band and even Joy Division songs like Love Will Tear Us Apart don't warm my heart anymore! It's sad to say so, but when Hooky left in 2007, so did the spirit and the unwavering faith New Order had in their ideas and ideals. Btw, great live version of Confusion! Feels like Barney is singing and the instrumental part just feels like it's played on modern equipment, not adjusted or changed! Wonderful, that's what I love about Hooky and his crew: They know how to do their stuff.
Might be a valid opinion, but Hooky has only made original music by himself in direct competition to Bernard (Revenge/Monaco vs. Electronic). Since leaving NO he's replaying his old band's music as almost a facsimile, which is easy to do. NO, on the other hand, have done a lot to reinvent/refresh the old material as well as come up with new stuff. I love Hooky and wish he was still in NO, but he is reflecting in past glory only, and doing fuck all new.
New Order music is almost same between PH&TL and NO. But vocals sucks now. Listening to Bernard is always good but nowadays he couldn't hit some notes. Peter's voice is only for Joy Division songs. He may sing and hit notes of a few New Order songs properly but that's just a cover. But again, the music and all instruments are all perfect for both bands.
David sings awesome
And of course, Hooky superb as always!
Proper version 🙌🏼

No not even close.
I totally agree. Seeing Hook live is really a great experience! He brings so much with so little! He really is exceptional
