    We have a 2020 Keystone Laredo 33RL and this is essentially the same floorplan with a few small changes. They discontinued the Laredo line after 2020. It's a great floor plan for couples so glad to see them still making it. NO to 1/2 ton towable. Tongue weight is the primary reason. Ours lightly loaded has a tongue weight of 1375lbs. I pull with a Ram 3500 now but we had a `16 GMC Denali 2500 when we bought it and it was a lot of tongue weight and length for even that.

    Its funny, if you watch old commercials or ads you see a station wagon pulling a 30’ Airstream.

    We absolutely love or Travel Trailer. Its big. We have 2019 Masa Ridge 310bhs. The Mesa Ridge, Open Range lines have, what I call, full size Travel Trailers that can be used for full timers. I mean, it has 4 slides and a kitchen island. The GVWR on the trailer is 11,500 lbs. They are a little wider and taller and truly feel like a flat floored 5th Wheel. They are also built to a higher quality compared to the "Lite" trailers. The reason we prefer the TT over a 5th Wheel is that much of the storage goes to the truck. We also have truck cap with the decked system, so when we are not hooked up to the trailer, my tools and camp chairs etc go with me and are not back at the trailer.
    The deterrent to large travel trailers is stability while towing. We have always used a Hensley Arrow hitch that eliminates sway and made sure we have enough truck to pull it, currently a 2022 GMC 3500 AT4, and it is a pleasure to tow.
    JB, if you have a chance to showcase one of the Mesa Ridge or Open Range full size travel trailers, I think you will be very surprised.

      Thanks for sharing, I’ve always wanted to review Open Range Fifth wheels so if I find some out here I will give them a try!
      Using a 1 ton for a trailer that big is smart and I probably would go that route too and the Hensley line of sway control is the best 👍🏾

    JB, always great information. This Cougar is very similar to our 2020 Jayco White Hawk 32RL. Our Jayco is 36.65ft long, and we pull with a 2017 Nissan Titan King Cab. Nissan states max towing at 9240, and we are just under that with the Jayco. We are pushing it to the max as it is, but, it is doable. If I had been in a better position, I would have purchased a 3/4 or 1 ton SRW, but, this is what we have, and all are paid for, which is always a plus. We never go above 65mph, and keep an eye out for sway, which seems to be a problem towing this long of a trailer with a 1/2 ton truck. I have added RAS to the truck which helped some, but, waiting to install LT tires when we can. I will be trading the truck in next year for a 1 ton, but, again, I am sure that there are alot of folks that do the same as I did, and it works. On several forums, people state that they tow 9000 + with their half ton's. I bet they do not have the length that we do. In any case, best of luck to you and your family, and keep the videos coming!

      @JB_WhoWork  Рік тому

      Is yours an XD? I wish they built a 1/2 ton that could tow a true 10k but the XD Titan and max tow GM is the only 1/2 tons I would buy to tow with 👍🏾

    Over 30ft is pushing it for a 1/2 ton IMO. We have a 33ft StarCraft TT with the WeighSafe WD hitch and even that thing can shake our F350 if you aren't careful and watching what you are doing.
    Really nice looking TT, though.

    Good morning JB, when I watch a lot of these videos the truck manufacturers seem to stuck in the past with their weight ratings. 25 years ago travel trailers and 5th wheels were much smaller compared to what they are making today. More people are going full time in these trailers and want more space. I think the truck manufacturers need to catch up on their weight ratings so you don’t have to have a 1 ton truck or a full at to have a decent size trailer. I think the 3/4 space needs a lot of work. GM seems to do it best in that space. Appreciate the video.

      Yup, it’s crazy how low payload is for 1/2 tons but did you see the owners manual for Toyota? Literally states this truck should be primary for passengers and load carrying 😂

    I had a 2019 32RLI that I pulled with a 2017 Tundra. After three different weight distribution/anti sway hitches I final gave up and bought a F250 and still was scared of the truck suck every time a semi passed me. 1250lbs tongue weight is just way too much for a 1/2 ton truck. Pulling the camper was so stressful and tiring after 9 months I sold it and bought the 30RL fifth wheel. Pulling it with the F250 gas burner is a breeze but it’s still way to much for any 1/2 ton truck in my opinion.

      Yea my friend did the same with a 2018 Tundra that he traded in for a 3500 👍🏾

  • @armandoyourpersonaljeweler7558

    I agree, the that trailer is way too much weight for a tundra. I have a 30ft that I tow with my 2016 tundra and it does just fine. The trailer is 7500 lbs loaded. For the new tundra I’d not go past 8k for a loaded trailer just to be safe. But that’s me.

  • @cnoyes72
    @cnoyes72 Рік тому +4

    I think that is just a bit too big for a half-ton. While the numbers may jive, they don't take into account the surface area of the RV. I suspect most people towing that with a half-ton would be white-knuckling it on the highway.

    • @raystanton238

    We are looking at this exact trailer. A big factor is how fast you're trying to tow. I see one ton trucks swaying because they want to drive like they dont have a trailer.

  • @jerrytalley802
    @jerrytalley802 4 місяці тому

    What’s crazy is, the Tundra is built heavier than other brands but the cargo capacity stinks. I’m learning the hard way. I bought a Jayco 263 RBS, 7,500 max weight loaded, well within the towing capacity, but with 700 lbs hitch weight, my fiberglass shell, bed slide, and one passenger, I’m maxed out cargo capacity or beyond, and even with a top of the line equilizer hitch, it’s just not stable towing. I added airbags, didn’t help. Next move is going to a spring shop to discuss leaf springs upgrade and just pray it solves my dilemma. If not, bye bye to my favorite truck ever, on to a 3/4 ton with literally double the payload which is what I need. Sadly, my gas mileage will go bye bye too, but can’t put a price on safety. Thanks

  • @raystanton238
    @raystanton238 Рік тому +1

    That's a great floor plan! I suspect that camper is advertised as a 4 season and is good down to zero degrees? If so, those low point drains look like they'll freeze.

  • @raystanton238
    @raystanton238 Рік тому

    The water hookups for the washing machine are above the top shelf. Seems like it is setup for a combo washer dryer. If you have individual washer dryer machines, you would want the much heavier washer sitting on the floor not on the top shelf where the water hookups are. So you would need to drill holes in the top shelf to bring the water hoses down to the washing machine.

    Camping world does come up with some pretty nice campers, but the buying experience from them really sucks!! I personally would never purchase another camper from Camping world ever again! I will never even consider buying from Camping world again. I actually would go out of my way to not purchase from them. My experience was horrible and I’m not the only one my father who purchased one from another camping world many states away also had a miserable purchasing experience. Even after the fact trying to get #Warranty stuff done was a miserable situation with Camping world.

    Can the Tundra pull it-----it has enough power to easily pull it. But, if you hook that trailer up to a new Tundra, you will most likely be above the cargo-carrying capacity of the truck and that's without putting any gear in it. Maybe a jockey could sit in the driver's seat but that's about it without being illegal.

You’re talking out of your ass to think otherwise. That being said. The tundra is an Awsome truck. It’s built very well. It will outlast the gm truck most likely. It pulls my 8500 lb boat trailer well with airbags. It would probably accelerate faster than the gas 2500 with the trailer behind it but that’s it.
