I helped my parents buy the Costco version of the 65'" X90K. We were looking at a comparable Samsung, and our final decision was when my parents were in Best Buy a few months before, and my mom commented that she liked the picture quality of Sony over Samsung. I personally like Samsungs better, but the Sony X90K is a beautiful tv. One advantage of buying it from Costco is their Sony X90CK comes with a backlit remote and a 5-year warranty.
I have owned this TV 65" for about 3 weeks now tweeked from settings reviews in cinema mode and this TV is gorgeous. Yes the reds and orange colors are very vivid and bright. This is my 3rd Sony HD TV and this TV actually reminds of my first HD TV which was a Samsung Plasma with very vibrant colors and deep blacks. Love this TV.
I have bought two Sony Smart TVs, one in 2015, and the other in 2016, still have them and they have never broken down, and the picture quality is outstanding. With the Sony Smart TV I bought in 2015 (32” inch), I mainly use it as my desktop PC monitor. With the Sony I bought in 2016 for my mother (43”inch), it’s used as both a TV, and for my Sony PS5 and it does a great job. Sony TVs are the best, my only criticism are the remotes, the buttons tend to get stuck.
I have a 55” B9 and yes a Sony, a 75” X900H and an 85” X90K will be delivered tomorrow afternoon 🎉🎉❤. I got the X90K because I love my X900H but wanted a bigger one and also full not half baked HDMI 2.1 on the X900H. The B9 is a year older and has full HDMI 2.1. The bad HDMI 2.1 is really my only complaint about the x900H as well as the low number of HDMI 2.1 ports on both tv’s as you mentioned. Black levels are pretty acceptable. The color and brightness is great on the X900H as well as gradient and overall picture quality, and it should ALL be an improvement on the x90K. Even after using the B9 the X900H still manages to impress me with picture quality.
Yes I own 2 Sony TVs. I have an x930e from a few years back and recently bought an x90l which is a newer version of this one you reviewed. I love the colors and image processing.
Great review ! One thing that most electronic reviewers don't do is indicate the power ratings, like whether the TV can take between 110v -240v; the is the first thing that international viewers look for. This info is usually on the back panel next Model Info.
Most people buy a TV in their area, another thing to consider is the US has different scan rates such as 60hz not 50hz. We use atsc, ntsc not secam or pal. It’s too complicated Sam
The start of this video made me smile (65” TV takes two people) that is etched into my brain. 3 months ago here in the U.K. I bought a 65” Panasonic LZ2000 - even though I’d asked a friend to come and help me set it up, he couldn’t come of till the following day. So me being Mr impatient decided to do things myself. I get to the point of trying to lift the TV onto its stand and to my horror whilst walking over with the TV realised my grip was slipping. Almost dropped my brand new TV I’d just paid the best part of £3000 for. Thankfully I managed to put it down on the sofa - lesson learned. Waited for my friend next day, and we had it set up in minutes……two man job, just to be safe.
Nice video. Installing the 75" version for my boss this afternoon, and needed to see how the feet mounted. I own a 75Z9J and 77A80J. Love them both. What I would change for 2023 would be FOUR HDMI 2.1 ports, backlit remote, and for God sake, add HDR10+ (it's FREE). If Vizio, Hisense, and TCL can have all 4 formats, its time to end the Sony/Samsung pissing contest.
I just bought a 75 inch sony x90k, why because the tech said it us better then the Samsung q6 that I had warranty on and had to replace. Hope I made a good choice
I’m ready to return my Sony 65x90ck, unfortunately. In less than three months, I turned it on and got a blank screen. This has happened four times. Sony suggested a factory reset, which I did, but nothing changed. Not overly impressed with the picture quality either. Looking at an LG OLED now…
I own a Sony X85K because I trust Sony more than the other less known and cheap brands like Hisense, Vizio. I had a Vizio v405-G1 that I used for my TV and gaming consumption that crapped out on me only 2 months ago after 4 years and before that I had a Magnavox 1080i tv that lasted ten years. I trust Sony because it's reliable and can last a long time. I chose Sony X85K ('43') based on your unboxing and review of the X85K partly because it supports my PS5 and 120hz. it's been two weeks and I have to say I'm impressed with the tv especially when it uses the Motionflow feature. It's like giving all these classic old movies a new life because it makes them look smooth. That's why I love my Sony X85K.
I own the X95J and overall I really like it. I do kinda wish I spent a bit extra and went OLED however, as the blooming is noticeable when you start looking for it
@@TechSteve it was between that and the comparable Samsung & LG models at the time. I chose the Sony because of their picture quality, black levels and Dolby Vision support which isn't available on the Samsung's (a deal breaker for such an expensive TV). I also got the 85" model, which if I went OLED in that size it's a massive price jump. I think my next TV in 3-4 years will definitely be an OLED though as prices continue to come down.
Had the XR-55X90K delivered this week. Question: The Control Menu that appears at the bottom of the screen each time the TV is powered on, can it be disabled so that it only appears when the 123 button on the remote is pushed ? The menu does disappear on its own but it takes too long; it's annoying and I don't want to have to push the 123 button every time to make it go away.
We got the 75xH9096 at home , bought it for 2 reasons... I trust Sony and previous TV (LG 65SJ850V) Was having issues and when they repaired it the (internal) VESA mount/frame was gone making it impossible to hang it back on the wall and they misplaced it so couldn't be restored, as that model wasn't in production anymore I chose to pay a little extra and go bigger and better at the original seller (consumer protection ftw -I Live in The Netherlands) Immediately fell in love of the versatility of android tv, loved the picture quality etc. I now live separated from my partner and am looking for the best experience but am torn between current gen, previous gen, x90J/k and A80j/k (also I like numbers on my remote I just want to press 4 and switch instantly from channel 538 (example) instead of going through menu's or accidently triggering assistant on every google enhanced device in the vicinity😅) budget being 1500€ max
The Costco Version comes with the nice remote. Love it over the 90J. This was a warranty replacement and I see it as quite a bit better. Blooming is more subtle. Still waiting for someone to go through the settings. Can't find anything on it.
Does this TV support VLC and external hard drives like Seagate Backup Slim? My current TV, Sony KDX7000D (2016) supports this which is why I still hold back on upgrading.
Hi Steve, eagerly waiting for your review. Am stuck between sony x85k and sony x90k. Have heard x90k has blooming issue. Is it true? Pls cover this topic in your review. If x90k doesn't have blooming issue then I will go with x90k.
Nino with your 90J do you have the issue where the screen gets darker when it engages in Game Mode? I’ve tried to adjust the picture when it does this but the tv doesn’t allow me to make picture adjustments at all. Do you have the same issue, or do you know a way to fix this? I love the picture on my 90J also. Just wish I could fix this one issue
Watch out!! I just bought the 75" x90k full array thingy and if you view it from even a slight angle to one side say, 10-20 degrees all the colour and contrast roll off leaving you with a pathetic insipid picture. So check it for yourself and make sure you can live with this fact before buying.
@tech steve thank you so much for reviewing this tv sony x90k been waiting foe someone to review this. In your review of this tv can you tell us how the motion is on it for ps5 as i know the picture quality is great for the price. Ill be getting an 85" soon. Also what would be your advise on paying for extended protection plan from Amazon. Should i?or will i be ok 🤔
Thanks for your question, the motion is hard to identify while gaming but I’ll do a motion test, warranties is something that I don’t buy because I don’t use them enough these TV aren’t used in realtime on the channel but I wouldn’t send more than 20% for 4-5 years

I watched your video on the Samsung TV and your video on a similar LG TV. I’m definitely not keeping both TVs, so I wanted to know your opinion on which I should keep. I don’t do any gaming. Just regular TV watching and sports here and there. Thanks!
Too bad, because some other reviewers have mentioned that the X90K has worse blooming, so I thought if it could be solved by changing the image settings it would be great because indeed the image quality looks quite beautiful
Steve do you think I made a mistake buying this TV? Mini-LED, Qled and OLED seem to be the hot thing and Fully array seems like it's already old technology. How viable is full array in 2022 and for the next couple of years?
At this point, I would love Sony to use the latest Mediatek chip next year and have four x 2.1 ports. Better menus for game mode or a gamebar. AMD freesync should be a standard at this point. Wi-Fi 6 at least. Brighter Oleds. Bluetooth 5.0 HGiG should be included since they are part of the reason why this new feature exist now. In addition, 55 inch Mini Led televisions. What else did I miss? More dimming zones especially on these regular lcd televisions

I bought a Song X90J 5 months ago and it’s picture is amazing. BUT once it goes into Game Mode and I start playing my Xbox Series X the screen dims down quite a bit. And when the system is on I’m locked out of making adjustments to the game mode. Does anyone have a idea how to fix this issue?

Sony for color accuracy. Can't decide between an X900F and a U7H, coz both cost the same. Hmm ..... what's your take? 🤔 Will be watching movies and gaming on it in the dark. X90K is nice, but cost almost 3 times as much!!! 😱😱

@@TechSteve Thank you Steve for your work and your team too. I would like you to recommend any version of Sony X80 85 90 between 700 to 1200 dlls, which would be the best option for movies and series, mainly video games and sports in the background. I have tried Hisense LG and Samsung. From LG I have a uq9000 in my children's room and a Samsung QLED of 43 UAD I think and at least in image in motion sharpness and brightness LG surpasses Samsung is my experience but I want to acquire one more for the living room of the house I'm honest I've seen dozens of videos for weeks and it's a date that I can't decide which one. Hey tech steve can you do a review on an ambilight tv? No rush if you can then I'd appreciate it
Thanks for the suggestion, i probably won’t to be honest. I’m not going to buy anymore TVs this year

Football Sucks Watch Wwe Wrestling Is Much Better
Nice! Watching on my Sony X80K 55" 💪
Great TV 👏🏽
@@TechSteve it is and got it for $630 at Best Buy! Honestly, I remember you said there aren't many games that run at 4k 120hz, so my X80K should be sufficient 👍. Great picture quality
You’re right only a fee games
Nice review keep up the good work Tech Steve
Thanks Marcus, more to come ✌🏽
I bought a Song X90J 5 months ago and it’s picture is amazing. BUT once it goes into Game Mode and I start playing my Xbox Series X the screen dims down quite a bit. And when the system is on I’m locked out of making adjustments to the game mode. Does anyone have a idea how to fix this issue?
BTW did you get the VRR update on the J series
@@TechSteve I can’t swear to it Steve. I have it set up wifi.
You should check, you probably have updated if not
@@TechSteve I will check bro. Steve I’m buying a new tv tomorrow. Which would you buy for gaming with a PS5 and Series X and I have a soundbar. Would you choose the LG QNED85 or the Sony X90K? You just did reviews on both recently bud. I know you have incredible knowledge and get to play with these tvs. :). The tv would be going in a Living room with medium lighting. Your help is MUCH appreciated
I just got the x90k and I haven’t seen the QNED80 but definitely get mini led if you can
merci super video
Can u test input lag on gaming mode ??
Yes
Is the 85 inch x90k a 10 bit panel.
I mentioned on the video
I bought this tv 3 months ago here in the Philippines,. It delivers nice color, but the only problem is blooming, I wish that Sony will fix it on the upcoming updates..
I wonder if your model is VA or IPS in your region. Thanks
@@TechSteve its a VA panel, I have compared it to last years model x90j that one has less blooming.. but I have no regrets.. considering its not a mini led tv... I'm sure you will notice this too, I suggest to select HIGH in auto local dimming on settings to lessen the blooming..
@@michaelgulapa4938 With local dimming on high how is the brightness? Is it still bright?
@@felisianuskristianto6093 Yes it is.. actually this TV is pretty bright on dafault.. but
I set mine: brightness 35, contrast 90, and gamma 0... Power saving: Low, light sensor: on..
Picture mode is Cinema.
@@michaelgulapa4938 thanks.. 👍
Can you do Samsung TU9010 review?
Not sold in us
Sony for color accuracy.
Can't decide between an X900F and a U7H, coz both cost the same. Hmm ..... what's your take? 🤔
Will be watching movies and gaming on it in the dark.
X90K is nice, but cost almost 3 times as much!!! 😱😱
I have reviewed those models or seen them personally
@@TechSteve Haven't? Noted.
Hello Steve. Can you have Philips LED TV on your next review?
We don’t have any that I’ve seen in the United States
It's okey Steve, but just now i decided to have the Sony 55x90k as our new living room tv. Thank you for the comprehensive review of the said unit👍👍👍
You’re welcome 👍🏽
I have the smart but not so smart Sony 42” I got my tv wgeb it just started with smart tv it’s in good condition but ready for an upgrade I can only use the apps on the tv unless I have the Apple TV which comes in handy but I would love to put gas the Sony A95k I seen at Best Buy
You’re loving the older model and it’s hard to move on

@@TechSteve Thank you Steve for your work and your team too. I have followed several of your videos and all the brands have a more advanced model that, no matter how minimal, is notorious in price and version. Thank you for the Spanish subtitles as an option in most of your videos. to all of you thanks again.
I appreciate your questions, but since I work with multiple brands on some videos I don’t recommend products to keep non bias, hope you understand
Lovely video
Thanks

Nice good video Steve 👍🏾💯
Thanks Chris
Would've been really nice if they came up with a 45" version
I’m sure they have their reasons
WTH is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone? 3:31
Justin is a cutie, Steve...is he single? 😸
For some reason the video only has a 360p option 😵💫
It will be at 4k in 30min or so.
I wanted to say same thing
