you fail to mention HOW they tell you to shift 4. Claudius was the 4th emperor of Rome, thus he is the 4th caser after Augustus. hence, the 4th shift of caesers.
Anyone else look at the old painting of a man with gray hair that cicada posted and noticed the shadow figure standing in the far right corner when you zoom in? Is there any way to clear that up and get a better look at it?
I remember this catching serious buzz when I was 12 years old and it was solved pretty quickly. Good times, I long for the days when someone or some group smart enough pops around and finally cracks the 3rd puzzle (definitely wouldn't be me lol) . If it's even solvable, and if it is, will it just lead to another puzzle? Who knows, but I love these kinds of things.
@@skyworm8006 CTF stands for Capture The Flag. In a few words, it's a competition where participants are asked to solve different types of problems of cryptography, reverse engineering, OSINT, forensics, pwn and much more. And usually you can win something like a job offer, money, subscriptions, products, etc.
Problem: After I have done the vignere cipher on the titles in the subreddit, the first two words in the title were exactly the same as yours in the video but the other words were still gibberish. What should I do?
Okay I get the mayan numerals, that's pretty simple, but I admit I'm confused on the other numbers "from the page title". Am I looking too hard for them or what's the deal with them? Edit: got it.
Hey did anyone ever check the audio files that were officially released by them? It could contain the rest of what was needed to get the remaining of the 72 pages of their “manifesto”
The two audio files were both important in their step of the puzzle. I've covered the use of the first one in the 2013 videos on Xor, and I'll cover what was hidden in the other when I get to 2014.
Nox Populi Cool. Also I watched one of your videos about the runic book they put out. I’m wondering what all the ways people went about translating it were. I’ve had a few ideas based of what you mentioned but I don’t really have the time to go through and try.
You can be! I started truly awful at this stuff at one point, it just takes time and interest. There's people even in the Cicada community far better at it than I am, I think anyone with the dedication can get to where I am.
Honestly, for a long time the Cicada puzzles and other things like it are how I learned. I didn't really have a background in this before starting to try online cryptography puzzles, and used them to direct what to learn next. For my first year at the Cicada puzzles, I learned a lot of the steps as I went along. Challenging yourself can be an amazing way to learn quickly.
Hi! Using the numbers from the Mayan símbols followed by the numbers from the page title (10,2,14,7,19,6,18,12,7,8,17,0,19,7,14,18,14,19,13,0,1,2,0,) you get the key to decipher the text. First, you put the numbers below each letter of the text (when the numbers end repeat) and then it goes like this: the letter goes back the number of times below it. For example, if a U was above a 10, the U would turn into a K.
I asked him some weeks ago on his twitch stream. He said that he plans to make more videos, but it will take some time (he didn't say anything more specific).
There's pretty much daily conversations about the solutions at #cicadasolvers on freenode, you can also check out the Wiki where people discuss it, it's linked from the top of my channel page. Good Luck

If you have any trouble with stereograms (literally because you're interested in hidden easter eggs or something): Tutorials, books, and Golden Grahm ceareal boxes will tell you to "stare at it moving the object back/forth trying to look into the distance" or some other bullshit like that.... It's simple... just cross your eyes. Stereograms are pretty easy to make too.... use this useless skill to hide your porn or something....
Yesterday I saw another image on /b/ but it was from "0000". After decrypting it, it led to a link which had downloadable media file that contained a high and low pitched sound. That was as far I as I could get. Here is the thread boards.4chan.org/b/thread/770126839
This is a waste of time. Is it really worth spending years trying to solve a puzzle with an unknown solution? There could be no solution to this problem. This could be a troll too. this has been going on for 7 years and they have not solve it. they can waste their whole life on this puzzle and not get any solution. This puzzle has to be a troll by the Anonymous organization.

When I try to use outguess on the "decoy" image it asks for a key. Why does nobody talk about the key?
6:09 And what the meaning of the glass? Stereogram = hide a 3d shape in a 2d picture.
I would love some more information about "outguess".
stenography frequency program, to run, do on linux:
outguess -r imagename.jpg messageoutput.txt
How did he apply the myan numericals to the headings?
so Cicada 3301 was basically the biggest and most popular CTF that was ever organized?

For some reason I can't pull up the key on the MIT site. I did a search, and copied the url from the video and nothing comes up. Is that normal

You mean the Liber Primus?

So basically I typed outguess blah blah blah, but it says outguess is not recognized as an internal or external command
What search engine are you for the love of Satan using?
You haven't installed it.

you need to use a Linux distro and install outguess if it's not installed.
