    Brian- Thanks for the review and sale info. While I was saving toward a DC travel cooler, we decided to take advantage of the sale. Since this will have more use at home and camping over the cooler, it was a pretty easy choice. Especially with the UPS capabilities.
    The additional 8% code was not accepted at check out. However it maybe becuase I took advantage of the other promotion for the free ecoflow camping light/powerstation with purchase of the River 2.

      Currently I am looking at the bougerv 30 and the Vevor 48. Not committed to either at the moment, likely wont purchase until early spring... but you know Black Friday and Cyber Monday may change that. Haha
      I have decided not to incorporate the cooler into my galley mod. This way the unit can travel with us in our vehicle as we leave camp and go explore. That opens us up to going larger with the 48.. i think the 56 would be to large for us (only 2 ppl). Why go bigger and have to worry about powering it if it not needed?

    Brian, a quick note to follow up on my purchase of the Eco Flow River 2.... originally I purchased it as a power unit for back up but it wound up in the Whacker.... worked fine there.... but I recently installed it in my home office and it now protectes my cable modem, wifi router, magic jack phone, and the wireless camera sercurity system. I tested the transfer speed with a simulated power failure and it works great. Plenty of power to run those items for several hours. Once the house and home office remodel is down I will add the office PC. Thanks again for the great advice.... stay healthy & safe.

    So this got me looking at comparable items out of curiosity and on paper, the Bluetti EB3A 268wh seems....better? Similar cost ($240 for Bluetti vs $200 for River2 with current promotions/coupons). But for the Bluetti: 10a on the DC output, 200W solar input (8mm so I don't need to go buy a new cable or convert to XT60), simultaneous solar+ac input, UPS functionality, internal AC brick. Slightly longer for full charge, but does do 80% in 30min. The design isn't quite as clever but at least the handle folds down. I don't need either (lol) but I now like the idea of using something like this primarily as a UPS knowing it can serve other duties.
    As always, I appreciate/thank/curse you for bringing stuff to my attention haha! Isn't it amazing how so many similar items are produced with minor deviations in functionality which we agonizingly weigh against each other to find the best value or to support whatever use case we dream up that we already have 5 other ways of doing but the new shiny thing does it a little better in some way.

    • @DIYOutdoorLife
      @DIYOutdoorLife  Рік тому +1

      Really, you can’t go wrong either way, they’re comparable. I should have given the EB3A a shout out, but they were over $100 more like last week??... lol
      By my preference, the river 2 wins pretty clean.
      It includes a car charger, 20% more cycle life on battery, Bidirectional USB & I think the interface is a lot better. The EB3A does have the wireless charging pad, which some will prefer. • @DIYOutdoorLife
      @DIYOutdoorLife  Рік тому +2

      Great question, short answer yes. Since it is an actual switched UPS, it’s slightly different than PTC. In either case, there’s protection on the input side that is drawing from utility power. This in fact does work like surge control. It will not have the same professional ratings as dedicated surge protectors but does offer more protection than direct plug. For extremely sensitive applications, plug the PPS into a high-performance surge protector and now you have the highest degree of both.

    An electric novice here. (Seriously!) Although you are reviewing the River 2, I just purchased the Delta 2 but figured my question would work well here too.
    I have a small teardrop whose electrical system is powered by an ACDelco Voyager Marine/RV Battery system (95 AH). I just purchased an EcoFlow Delta 2 (with plans to later on purchase solar panels) and am thinking that I can use the Delta 2 to recharge the ACDelco battery via the electrical cord that brings in shore power to the RV. And when I get the solar panels I can recharge the Delta 2 as it recharges the ACDelco (I hope!).
    Is this possible or even practical? The wiring setup for my Vintage Trailer Works XTR Off-Road is pretty simple with an exhaust fan, interior and exterior lighting and USB plugs for charging phones, etc. There are no plans for other electrical devices to power at this time.
    Thanks for any assistance you might be able to give me.

    • @DIYOutdoorLife

      Short answer, yes, it will work doing what you said. The reality is it a little bit more complicated and several things will determine how well it works. Using the power station to charge the camper battery will be very very inefficient, but it may still work and satisfy your needs.
      There are a few tricks that can help. If your camper has a converter, you might have more success disconnecting the battery and plugging the camper into the delta directly. If you run things, efficiently, they might even last longer this way, rather than recharging the camper battery… trail and error will teach you a lot.
      Here’s a video on the channel where I talk about some tricks doing what you’re suggesting. If you dig around in our old videos, we have several more that address tips and tricks in this area.
