Right On! No bout a doubt it my friend, that's the way Stokley has always rolled IMO anyway. I've had the pleasure to watch & listen to Stokley & Mint Condition do their thing a few times over the years & they've never disappointed both on & off stage. Even back in the day when The Mint were really vibing, Stokley, Keri & the rest of the band were always willing to take a minute & shoot the shlt with me & other MC fans. Which that in itself, dude's like that are as cool as they come in my book. Just saying.... Plus, "You Can't Fake The Funk!" ✌️😉

Second, check out Stokley's two solo projects "Introducing Stokley" (featuring songs Level, Organic, Cross the Line & Now) and "Sankofa" (featuring She, Cascade, Rush) if you haven't already. You won't be disappointed!

The live band, all of the instruments, Stok voice, the harmonies - JUST WOW!!!! ❤ I remember my dad taking me to school in the 6th grade, he cut that Someone To Love on … you couldn’t get me to stop listening to Mint Condition!

Stokley is an R&B vocal standard. Mint Condition is by far one of my favorite bands. So Fine (Original and Remix), Back To Your Lovin’, If You Love Me (Extended Version), Whoa, The Man For You, THIS DAY THIS MINUTE RIGH NOW (will be played at my wedding), Moan - too many to name!
That warmed my heart to have him mentioned Gerald Levert. I played guitar for Levert for about 8 years and I remember one of the show's Mint Condition opened up. I think it was in Vegas during a fight weekend. Another great interview guys.
@Skip Pruitt that early on the MD was probably the bass player but the keyboard plays we had possibly at this time may have been Nick Smith, John Denny ,Tommy Miller or Tony Nicholas
😮!! Yes!!! Big up again to Tank and J Valentine!! I still remember when I first heard "Breakin' My Heart"..and I thought, 'these guys (Mint Condition) aren't playin' around'.....then when I heard "U Send Me Swingin"..... I WAS SOLD!!!....been listening to them ever since. I did not know that Mint Condition was discovered by the giants, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. I like the fact that they're a band with percussions, keyboards and bass guitars that were heard in all their songs...and with Stokley on the mic.....it's a definite wrap!!! Tank, J Valentine...I wish you both continued success...keep bringing the pillars of R&B to the forefront!! 😉
First time hearing Breakin My Heart..it had us all and it never let us go. Crazy finding out years later that it wasn't their 1st single was crazy to me lol. Same thing with Jodeci, Forever My Lady and Stay owned the radio then to find out neither was their debut single lmao mindblown
It's unfortunate that the people who you don't know are the people who actually discover a group that is still on the local level. True jam and Lewis signed them to their label and put them on, but it was DJ cowboy who initially worked with their sound at Central and helped them find places to practice that helped them get their sound together. But I know you had not heard of him, but I just thought I would let you know since I do.
Young Michael hitting that note in "Be there in the morning" floors me just when i think about it. He was so vocally dynamic as a young child. Absolutely unreal 😍
Stokely's father was a professor at Macalester College. His name is Macmood El Kati. A highly respected and revered Elder in the Saint Paul and Minneapolis Community.

I can’t stress how much I love listening to RESPECTED MUSICIANS and VOCALISTS revere and uplift the gift of Beyoncé . So many try to dodge giving her flowers because of how big an artists she is but she is a student of the craft . If Prince and Stokely say you have IT then there’s not much to add ❤️🙏🏿 love to see it
I’ll never forget, I was in NC living with my grandparents ( 20 years old) and my grandmother and I were on our way shopping and pretty brown eyes came on the radio and I fell in love immediately. When we got to the mall I looked for the single but they didn’t have it but I finally got the cassette and when I went to my hometown In Michigan my cousins and I were hanging out and I pulled out my cassette and told them I got something for y’all azzzz and I played that song and they fell in love too. Yes 👍 so many memories and I’m 51 now and I still play their music like it’s brand new 😆

@ItsSawida, NO doubt! Prince & Stokley may not have sat down & wrote a complete song together, only Stokley knows? There very well could be yet it's a secret Stokley cherishes & keeps under his hat. I do know they both respected each other very much as friends & artists. It's not a big deal but Stokley did sing backup vocals on "Call My Name." Plus there were many times back in the day they all jammed together @Prince's Paisley Park house parties. As I said though if a joint together exists it's in Stokley's private collection of jams & guarantee it will stay there out of respect & admiration Stokley had & has for Prince. Real Talk! ++Peace, Funk & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul++
What a delight to see this man on the tube today. Such an extraordinarily great talent. He doesn’t get his flowers enough. And they have no idea what “Pretty Brown Eyes” means to us. It is foundational for R&B. Not only was Mint Condition special to us, but Stokley is the man. I look forward to every time he puts something out. He’s one of our R&B legends.
When I tell you I’m a Minthead to my core… please believe it 😍! This band has been moving my soul for decades. I LOVE Stokley❤❤❤! If you ever get a chance to see them live… you won’t regret a second or a dollar❤❤❤❤
Isley brothers is more like 60yrs. They literally span from the 60's to now 2020's and still getting it better than these youngins could ever do. My mom saw them this past summer in Flint and the show and singing was great.
Stokely!!!!!!!!! What a BEAUTIFUL specimen💚💚💚. Definitely one of my favorite Male Vocalists in the entire world!!!!!!!! He even sang the words "dead or alive" ON KEY!. He's sooo amazing 😊💚
"What kinda man" is my other favorite next to "Pretty Brown Eyes." Mint Condition's music IS and ALWAYS will be TIMELESS. They are in my top 5 of R&B "bands." They don't make 'em like this no more.
Stokley is one of the most talented people of our generation! Thank you guys for giving him his flowers! His longevity reminds me of Charlie Wilson! Voices that transcend time and space! Keep going bro! We appreciate you! Coffee is a banger! If you love me by Mint Condition is one of my favorite song! It takes me to another world!
I had the chance to meet Mr. Stokley in Houston, he is such a beautiful soul to watch and hear speak! Truly one of the most greatest moments in my life and heart!
I got to see Stokely, Joe, Jasmine Sullivan and Marsha Ambrosius at the Indiana Black Expo a couple years back. Made it a weekend with my wife and teenage daughters. The best R&B line up I’ve ever witnessed. My 1st time seeing Stokely and he didn’t disappoint. Between EWF and Mint Condition, those bands got some of the coldest intros🚀🚀🚀
This interview made me go get back in my Mint Condition bag. It's been beautiful. Such timeless EXQUISITE music. And Stokely wit the red dreads...😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Stokley you betta say it wit yo cheesstt!! “Pretty Brown Eyes” is and will always be on the Top 5. Headphones, press play, astral travel and sink into a soulful sojourn to the Mint Factory. That’s what real R&B does for the soul💫🥰 Silk “Lose Control” takes you there too. LAWD😫🥰
Stokley & Tank in the room 🔥 🔥 Stokley will always be one of the greatest, unique voices to me. Tank when you came out felt, feel the same way. NO ONE sounds like you two. Please do something together. Another great show❤️🙏🏽
You should call it “The Money Spot” which is a provocative play on adult entertainment’s “money shot” that everyone watches and waits for. It’s catchy and you could even have a ‘Ridin’ & Bonin’ section too (Ready for the. World cuts, etc.)
They need to get Raphael Saadiq on R&B Money asapp!!!!❤️ Raphael and Stokley are one of the bestt singers to ever come out of groups such as Tony, Toni, Toné or Mint Condition🔥🔥

Isley brothers is more like 60yrs. They literally span from the 60's to now 2020's and still getting it better than these youngins could ever do. My mom saw them this past summer in Flint and the show and singing was great.
H.U.!!! I remember those days! Chris Dave and Stokley use to blow our MINDS in those Fine Arts rooms!!!
You knowww!!!
OH YES! THE G.O.A.T. Sir Stokley, the one and only!
🔥 🎉😊 Mint Condition 🖤 💐 📦 ❤ 🎶 🎺 🎸 🥁 singers too.
I appreciate Celantro. ❤ 🎉 😊
The duet with Kelly Price is one of my all time favourites 🔥🔥🔥🫡
ANYTHING Stokely ima watch. He and Mint Condition is a LEGEND.
Another great show❤️🙏🏽
A Musical Titan!!!
Mint Condition Greatest Band last 30yrs... Will go song for song with anyone who dares to challenge!
You know what would be crazy? If R&B money made a spotify or apple playlist consisting of all these top 5 songs.
Soon
GREAT SUGGESTION!!
You should call it “The Money Spot” which is a provocative play on adult entertainment’s “money shot” that everyone watches and waits for. It’s catchy and you could even have a ‘Ridin’ & Bonin’ section too (Ready for the. World cuts, etc.)
I grow up listening to the Carpenters. Love them. I love the Jackson 5. Young Michael singing like he was grown
