My overall AOE skills went up from watching.this video. The one thing you said that completely changed how I thought about attacking my opponent. You just have to stop them from getting food. Now I been going after villagers and houses. People end up surrendering cause they can’t do anything. I love it when they tap out. Thanks Beasty!!!
As an abisad main I loathe you. Literally forces my military wing every game, so I’m just sucking down berries till imperial. While you can d-rush, feudal -rush, and mow down armies in imperial with the g@yest unit ever. The long bow. Which can hide behind a wall and shoot you from half way across the map. And a Calvary that can just run away and heal just like the French. The most cowardly f’cking nation the world has seen. Plus your “trebs” which are actually a long range mangonel. Who tf you think you’re fooling. Sniper mangonels? What a f’cking stupid idea. F’ck you and your civ.
Truly nothing is more infuriating then to be actively losing food and housing. The struggle just to get a villager at that point leaves the player idle to watch you age up to a point that itd be impossible to win.
Did this guide after watching it and won all of my placement matches and a couple afterwards as well. This guide works very well haha 😂 thank you for the content beasty 😎💪
This guide helped a lot, I haven't played since around the time the game came out and I was mostly doing the 2tc or longbow rush, and even then I felt like my economy was always strapped. This is already helping me pump out units a lot better, only done it in AI matches so far but excited to try it in an online game
Why??? I'm new and just curious cause I love playing English but I feel like when I turtle they always rush me hard and punch me in the face while I'm trying to boom or age up
@@TheCanadianManzz I think it was a joke because that's what a lot of English players do. Beasty's strategy of capitalizing on Feudal aggression to slow the opponent down is usually best (and easier, in a way).
I haven't actually seen an English player hide in the corner before, every FFA I have played there's an Ottoman player hiding in the corner who starts using great bombards as scouts around the 25 min mark
I played aoe4 total 34hours with 37% win rate. After this guide - I am now on 8 win streak, it all just makes so much sense, I am dominating all games and ending them in 20-25 mins. If opponent dont surrender much earlier
This is so cool, I used very similar build order in last season to get to diamond, with little tweaks. I went for 5 vills on gold to push all the upgrades faster and I would rally onto wood up to 18. I found 18 vills to be sweet spot for constantly making farms and units. At certain point I would build 2 additional barracks and spam MAA. At that point you start gathering lot of excess wood that can be used for mass rams. The downside I found to be is that denying food isnt just as easy as putting longbows there. Any good HRE player will put a tower there and hit caste before any decent harass
@@just_me1232Immediately archer rush HRE. Council hall finished = archers rallying to hre gold. Scout to see if they’re putting a stable up anywhere , respond accordingly if so. I love it. I'm noob but trying hard! I follow the best I can, but I'm still like 3 minutes behind by the 10 min mark So much to learn and really get to know what to do with no hesitation
This is like the 5th video I watch from Beasty and in all of them he says he doesn`t have internet xD Jokes aside, great stuff Beasty, really apreciate your content !
I appreciate this video. I've been struggling hard for a while now. Hoping I can better the process, be more efficient, and actually win something lol. Now I need to work on my military strat
Great guide as usual! Can you make a guide on when and what units to build, and how to position them against common early aggression? Those include say, a few early knights from French/Rus, Spearmen-Archer with 2 rams mixed in, etc. That would help us newer players with playing all civs. Also, are there some generic principles for securing resources out on the map? Ex. where to build walls, where to build a tower (or two) to secure deer etc.
I got so into the habit of going 2TC into King's Palace and just being super greedy that games would take ages and often times I'd die to an early rush. This build order is sweet and I finally broke into Plat
I just played a 2vs2 custom game and using this play I won. My teammate left before first age up leaving me (an inexperienced console noob) against 2 players (Ottoman and Chinese). I feudal rushed the Ottoman player with spear and longbow, Chinese did try to help but I killed his army and fished off the Ottoman TC, he left game. China attacked my base so I pulled back, kept mass training troops and repelled. Then I constructed many unit production, hit castle age and then went after China. Good game was called and he left before I could do too much damage.
One thing I like to do is send 5+ villagers on wood all at once to optimise the walking time! If you can send 8 that means 2 trips so very little walk time.
I don't really understand. Just got the game today. Played tutorial stuff. And going through the campaign. Played a few 4v4 as English. This explains some stuff. But like not what units to make. Or what to do to win with English.
This is great - possible for an HRE guide next? I can't figure out why I would play them over RUS or English, but they're fun and I want to figure out their strengths
I fluctuate between gold 3 and plat 3. I feel like I see this exact build every other game lol. What is best counter? I’ve found some success with early keshik
HELP!! Please , how do I access the “screen” you are using, meaning where the Materials and Man count are at the Top of the Screen in lieu of the bottom left? Just started playing this game and can’t stop, thanks for all the pro guidance 🎉
It’s not a good idea , Stragglers are very good because you dont spend any resources ( wood for lumber ) in order to gather them and the distance from TC it’s not that much ! So you get the same value as the lumber camp but you have 2 farms already By the time you consume that straggle , you have enough production to build the lumber and sustain the wood income That’s why pro players always use them and they sometimes delay the lumber build This thing has few exceptions like Rus and China because they get some sort of extra value out of that lumber camp
Clearing them for easily defendable farm locations is the point, and not having to waste early wood on lumber camps. Isn’t the biggest deal if you don’t like it - don’t worry too much about it
Sweet, my recent playstyle was kind of like this and I found a lot of success in it climbing from gold3 to plat3 easily. Will try to follow this build, hopefully I won't end up floating so much resources. There were some games with HRE reaching castle by the time I actually could go over and harass and he just mowed me down with burger but that's life. :) Hopefully you do an Otto guide in the near future as well, I'm kinda trying to do the same with them but my eco just becomes a mess after 20-30 vills.
It means you didn't harass him well enough in early. If u take his gold in hostage he won't be able to age up. Do it at the very beginning and keep doing it until you're age 3 urself in order to full produce xbows Hf mate
As the English, I was focusing on getting 8 on food, 6 on gold, 6 on wood & 3 on stone before I age up to II. It feels so stupid now after watching this guide. I was also building Abbey of Kings BeCaUsE tHe KiNg hEaLs WhEn OuT oF cOmBaT.
Anyone have advice on when to build walls with this setup? I find myself not having much success getting the Age II victory and battles get prolonged, usually to Age III or IV. By that point I've got armies knocking at my door while I'm still making my way through the build order. Feels like walls are missing in there somewhere.
Hey! Tried this build, noticing I'm floating a lot of wood (like ~1500) by having 15 vils on wood. Do people transition some of the vills later on? Or is that not expected
English farms are 50% cheaper and get a bonus gather rate when in influence area of mills. For other civs, farms are something transitioned to when pressured or when other resources are exhausted. I am only a diamond player, but this build order is too late for a 1tc push. Abbasid military wing will have the same army +2tc and have better eco, china + french will have just more villagers (china even better farms), mali will go fast farimba and stop ur 8min push with 10 javelins, hre will have castle maa or 2tc maa-horsemen at 8:00, ottomans and rus will have eco boost to get either 2tc and defend or fast castle for mangonel. Ain't I right?
Yeah, I also noticed that it is too slow, especially against aggressive civs like Rus or French. At 5th - 6th minute you have a knight in your base and you start to defend and there is no option you prevent them go castle and they got 2TCs behind. If you play against the good player he scouts you and if he sees 2 longbows he just makes one horsemen or a tower and goes castle. This build tries to combine eco boom and rush but in AOE you have to decide what is your tactic and commit to it. I like better the previous build with slight aggression and a second TC behind. With one TC you put yourself in an all-in position (which Beasty said in the previous guide) and if you don't kill your opponent fast you are dead later.
Hey guys, this English guide is still the best English 1v1 build as of right now (start of 2024) this is the GO TO GUIDE!

Heck yeh you don’t even have to target landmarks or tc just break there farms and houses there mills. Scorched earth policy in a sense lol

Beasty has no experience whatsoever with English.
You're supposed to stick to your corner of the map and most importantly NEVER EVER LEAVE.
