What a man. We need men Bear Bryant's character again or our way of life is doomed. So refreshing to hear him say if a great ball player wasn't a good person, he didn't want him to play at Alabama. Robert Castello Dixie General Store Heflin Alabama

I had an high school coach that would say kids had attitudes and you wouldn't want them and wouldn't give transcripts. He also used to throw letters in the trash. He would help kids in Special class (slow) never kids with academics. Those kids came back home. Everyone of them.

Joe Namath once said he never understood half of what Bear said but he had a aura around him and he expected you to play beyound your ability. GOAT
God it's a shame this man is no longer with us 💔😢💔 RIP Bear 🙏💔😢 The best there ever was the best there is the best there ever will be!!!
Bear didn’t have a lot of Heisman winners, but he picked boys with integrity and love of football and turned them into winners in life and football.
He didn't have any. Which is why he was the greatest
@@Boogbama123 Sorry, but you are mistaken - about not having any Heisman winners.

Coach Bryant taught life lessons.
It's been 3 years since I watched and commented about this, but his words still remain true to this day. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!!

He did things no other coach could or would. Bear helped ALOT of his boys out.
So many coaches
@@ShiemPlum He got the governor to allow players of color to be allowed to play.

GOOD WORDS BUT IF U WENT BY THEM WORDS TODAY IT WOULD BE HARD TO FIELD A TEAM!!
Mf started out with plan then shit so damn body he's the greatest that ever lived
My hero legendary coach bear Bryant greatest coach ever, nick Saban close second
Saban's older than Bear ever was, believe it or not.
Old school is the best school, wtf happened cause it ain't like his today!
He was a humble man.
"We want people with character. We want people who want to help themselves." How many coaches would follow this example today?
Only Nick Saban

Obviously Auburn, FSU, and Florida don’t care about character based on them recruiting Newton, Winston, Hernandez, and Urban.
nick dosent care how good a player is, if he has thug tendencys he will pass , and florida will pick them up

Kenny Stabler drove him crazy and he kicked him off the team...He gave him one last chance & the snake didn't let him down
Joe Namath tested him,too.
Coach bryant believed in defense. I remember him saying if the other team can't score they can't win
This has changed. Any coach who only recruits "good" people are fired within 2 years. Its all about wins and losses, including Alabama.

How did we as a society ever get away from this idea of raising kids?? Someone please explain this to me?
Baby boomers were the "me" generation, and just threw us all in front of a tv and ran around being kids themselves. 😂
Character counts!
So, he didn't want to help build character. He wanted players that were already molded. Good to know.
Different world. We let it go.
Not all of us.
