Could you imagine if the classical greats were able to come back and get their hands on what we have now?? Dude. I can't even imagine it. Beethoven, Bach, Liszt, Paganini... All of them
Magnificent!!!! I'm telling you, at 8:11, all I could envision was Tom Cruise running, leaping, kicking frantically, and running some more!! Bravissimo!!

I absolutely love your videos and tutorials, they're honestly so helpful and absolutely awesome. I've learnt so much from you and I've already applied so much of your knowledge to the music I make on my UA-cam. Thanks so much for everything you've done. (I do however need to had more of an oomf to my precision XD)

I really wish you would do a video giving your top 3 to 5 (in order) full orchestral library plugin recommendations and the pros and cons to each. BEFORE BLACK FRIDAY! You obviously know what is what. I'm looking to purchase my first orchestral plugin and I'd like to know I'm getting one that's going to have all of the orchestral instruments with their articulations, pedal & mod supports, etc If you do a search for best list your not sure if you can trust the list and/or the reviews you see. The recommendations are all over the map. The only one I feel good about getting is a supplemental library: Spitfire Solo Strings.
I tried to reproduce your percussion sound. But it didn't work using the same instruments. Your patches sound way more bass heavier even when selecting the same notes. Some OTT didn't make it better. Did I miss something or what is the real trick of it Alex?
hey man, hope you will read this. There's obviously a processing on it. An exciter/compression maybe and some frequencies boosted. There's always a trick that they wont show you.
Are those Gross Beat presets custom made? I may just be derping on the default but a while back I messed with the presets folder and now every slot is blank.
Personally I believe that percussion is being overused and pretty much any trailer has this shit in it. Most of the time it outshines the screenplay and doesnt match the emotion or feelings of the situation. Creative is sonething else.
Yeah, I know that it's supposed to "get the blood pumping and the excitement rushing" but when ever I see a trailer without these massive hits in them I pay more attention to the trailer itself.
The problem is that you don't get placed if you don't do it that way. They want exactly that and you have to provide or you won't get any money. I agree, it's boring, but sadly this is how it is.
One of the reasons I don't write as much trailer music is because I wasn't particularly impressed with the trends of the time. However, those trends exist for a reason: simply put, they work into creating hype and emotion. And that is the sole purpose of trailer music. You either accept it and play the game, or move on to different things like I did. If you try to play the game by going completely against what works, due to personal experience, I can tell you to expect frustration. Before deciding all trailer music is boring though, one should spend time looking into the different genres of it that exist and that are currently trending. There's quite some diversity in them and how they're made, despite the goal always stays the same.
Perfect video as usual... I have a question : Can't we do all of this effects in MIDI ? Why in .WAV ? I like to do all the work by myself... Sorry for my english...
@David D Daniel my question was... As Alex mentionned it : include wav audio in a track, a midi file or whatever is not cheating but i'm not agree because i like to make my song in midi files only. For my proud for exemple. I think it's possible to have the same result as a wav but with midi files + effects but it will be a hard work i suppose.. I hope i'm clear
@@bnjization Personally I prefer converting samples to midi for percussive sound effects, but if I'm adding say a whoosh bang, it's much easier to use wav so I can clearly see where the hit is going to be. At the end of the day, you should just do whatever works for you
Great tutorial. But those diving downers fills. I am so burned out on those. They are so overused I roll my eyes when I hear them. We need to leave them in the teens and move forward into the 20’s with something new. Whatever that may be.
You know, I've always wondered what kind of drums Zack Hemsey used for his song Waiting Between Worlds. It's the most epic percussion I've ever heard, and naturally, I began to wonder whether I could replicate it somehow.
Sehr gutes Video! 😀 Tolle Arbeit, Meiner....!!

do you initially use midi based plugins like Rise and Hit for your riser effects, or do you prefer to just drag and drop audio files from the very beginning?
Probably is something that you already know, but just for informative purposes I'm gonna say it anyway. You can make whooshes starting with samples like taiko drums, making riff, adding reverb, distortion, eq and stuff; downers are synthy or low end sound pitched down, maybe low passed and distorted; risers are the opposite, sound or maybe synth stuff mixed with white noises with maybe reverb, eq (boosting or cutting frequency, or with little high pass), compression, distortion, automated parameters or other stuff; hits in a digital world can be made with a very fast down pitching of 1 or 2 octave, or maybe you can start from recorded samples of puncky stuff and manipulate and mix them with the effects I said before. About sound design there are a lot of things to say, cause sound design, like composing, is a lot about trial and error, you can learn a lot with SeamlessR's videos or taking private lessons from him, or maybe taking the cinematic courses of evenant about sound design (Cinematic Synthesis for Synthy sounds, From Source To Cinema to better understand HITS and Other FX stuff), but remember that all this stuff needs not only theory but really A LOT OF PRACTICE, it's a long Journey, but It's worth it, especially if you want to develop your own sound.
I would like to get something like this in Spanish , I understand a little bit but not so much, and I should take that course but again, before I would have to get better my English :'(
