Since it's 10 seconds of being in the spotlight when Neymar wore them briefly, the Puma King has not been a relevant pair of football boots in the modern era. Last year however, Puma tried to change that, making their biggest marketing push for the Puma King in years, but with a catch, the King was no longer kangaroo leather...
In today's video we take a closer look at the 2024 version of the new Puma King Ultimate, the updated version of the original, building on the same synthetic K-Better base. While the changes might appear subtle, the differences are meaningful, but arguably not enough when you start comparing them to other options. We discuss the good, the bad and where the new King Ultimate stands against all of it's competition available at the same price or less.

"Responsiveness" is BS . Wear some grip socks and lace your cleats up . Tight restrictive cleats wont make you faster. Im the fastest guy on my team and I wear og hypervenom 1s because comfort and ball feel are my top priority in soccer cleats not bullshit tech

I saw a gen 1 boot for 70 bucks in an entire size run in the puma outlet, some other online stores have them already discounted 60% too.

The only sythetic that feels anywhere near real leather is the Furon V7 and ironically New Balance makes no effort to compare it to leather in marketing .
Asics DS Light X-Fly 5 and Pro special edition. Those are the only real ones

I know it was mentioned a couple of times that the original is that good, but I have it and love it. I might get this one too. The syntetic material is not bad at all. The boot is anti non-sense, simple, and confortable.
We have;
A King that's not a King
A Tiempo that's not a Tiempo
A Predator that's not a Predator
And a Copa that's not a Copa
We deserve better :(

@osobear4365 I'm in the same boat. I'm tired of all this faux leather. I just bought the Morelia 2 for grass and i'm gonna try the New Balance 442s AG for artificial grass. K leather is just better.
The Predator and Copa are on the way. Those just need at least 2/3 leather upper, or full leather upper, and they would be perfect
As a 30+ year old I just buy whatever takedown model Joshua recommends. I’ve done it twice already and he’s been spot on each time. About to buy the tiempo legend 10 academy’s soon too!
I’m m obviously not a pro but man the version 1 of this is one of the most comfortable boots I have ever wear. It shapes really good onto your feet and provides decent padding to feel comfortable yet close to the ball. Just preferences I guess.

Hey josh with silos like the tiempos, copa pures, predators, and these kings having either full synthetic uppers or synthetic mid foots do you think that they have better lockdown over full leather uppers? or has leather technology improved to have similar lockdown to synthetics?
I just think the tech in general these days have just gotten so much better when it comes to lockdown that leather boots can provide well
You look at stuffs like Nike Tiempo legend 6,7 and 8 who all had leather uppers to the midfoot all do wel
These were very much an example of how well lockdown can be when you implement the tech well
Generally yes, but every boot is fairly different. Nothing really has an unsupported leather upper these days, so over stretching isn’t really an issue. If you get the right size in a pair of boots that fit you well, most boots will have a fairly secure and responsive feel.
The Legend 7 was full leather and had exceptional lockdown

Puma were barely hanging in there when they were using k-leather, now they’re about to be stuck with Umbro in the valley of dead boot brands
Feels more like a tone down version to any of the evopower models. Lack of leather is a bummer even though it isn’t the deal breaker but the boots honestly just feel like a normal synthetic pair
Nah the evopowers had some great uppers with foam padding and aggressive soleplate. This is far too nondescript to be compared to anything really.

I bought the 1 gen future ultimates for $100, the gen kings were also selling for the same price

Yea My Son's Puma King Platinum OG are still like brand new, looked after them an the K leather is top notch using Saphir RENOVATEUR cream protects an keeps the leather very soft. He only wear's K Leather football boot's an has the Future Z 1.3 Lazertouch K Leather toe box an again the leather is awesome an looked after with Saphir RENOVATEUR Mink oil. Only synthetic boot's he has to change it up in his boot bag are the Adidas Adizero Ghosted Legend's Pack with the Carbitex soleplate an the OG upper. He wear's the big 3 but he jumped from Nike to Puma, he said the Future Z 1.3 Lazertouch are so comfortable an great for shooting an touch on the ball with the Leather. Look after your leather boot's because he will have to buy older boot's, he has the last Tech Craft Pack K Leather Nike Phantom TC and had the Mercurial Vapor 13 Tech Craft an had them for two seasons until he outgrown them an his big toe came out. Awesome boot's butter soft Flyknit with one of the most soft K Leather ever apart from his Algeria Leather Untreated Montebelluna Tiempo's. Had to get them being the last ever Tiempo's with Leather..
