What would you say the new carrier and hinge reinforcement weigh together (ballpark)? Are we talking 15 pounds or 45 pounds for example?
I would guess 20 total pounds. Thanks for watching.
How much of a pain was it to work around the table when working on the hinges with the tailgate closed?
It wasn’t a pain at all. I would have taken it off otherwise. Thanks for watching!
I need to get this because my 34" tires shakes and rattle the tailgate when driving. How has yours been. Any rattle over the last year?
It honestly doesn’t move at all (tire) and zero rattle. The tire is sucked all the way up to the tailgate with no rubber spacers. Hope that helps. Happy to answer any other questions.
I’m installing mine on my 2020 Today, did you have gaps where the hinge meets the body and light shows through on both the upper and lower hinge?
Yes the teraflex hinge will have a gap. It’s ok for water to get back there. That’s why you must replace the stickers on the inside.
@@santacruzoverlander thanks for your quick response I have been pulling my hair out for an hour following the instructions, however I did watch your video about 5 times before I started! Keep up the good work and Happy Jeeping !
The instructions are really good. Follow them step by step. Glad I could help. It’s why I started posting install videos. Cheers.
Me gusta como puedo obtenerlo estoy en mexico
While appreciate your speeding up the install process (Most videos are WAY TOO LONG in that regard), why did you have the wood pieces holding up the hinge during install? (In the instructions?, Something you decided you needed to do?) Also, are there rubber bumpers to reduce tire wobble that attach to the tire carrier? Didn't see any, so if not, does the tire wobble?
RK. Thanks for watching. I can’t recall why I used the wood, but do assume it was assisting some way. Definitely not in the instructions.
No rubber bump stops needed with tire carrier and hinged carrier. The tire rest tightly against the carrier. Zero wobble. Cheers!
Did you cu the tap and put the spare on for adjustments
Not sure what you're asking.
What rear License plate holder are you using?
This is the relocation bracket from LOD off-road Part# LOD-JLP1810
@@santacruzoverlander Tnx
Is this better than the Mopar hinge reinforcement option?
I haven’t seen the installation process for the Mopar but I don’t think it replaces the factory hinges like the Teraflex. Hope that helps.
I wonder how much weight it can hold?
The specifications say it can hold a 40” tire.
Curious to know what tailgate table you have ? And how much was it??
Outback Adventure Tailgater. Very Expensive
@@santacruzoverlander no rattle I assume for that amount of money?
No rattle at all.
This is a nice rig but if you need your 35" tires raised higher (which you will), this product will not help. Most off grid trailers these days require 21" of ground clearance at the hitch to minimize the typical Jeep sag when towing. This product is 2 full inches short of that requirement. In order to get the 21 inches of ground clearance, you need to use a hitch with a 4 inch drop inverted. With this hitch, you will not be able to open the rear door because the tire will hit the hitch.
The Teraflex Alpha tire carrier is adjustable and will fit up to a 40" tire. Will that give you 21" as needed for a offroad trailer, I don't know and would have to measure. I currently pull a camping trailer with no issues. Thanks for watching. Cheers.
@@santacruzoverlander I have the same heavy duty carrier and it is adjusted as high as it can go. The Teraflex and 4 Wheel Drive Parts technicians confirmed this. I have a 35" KO2 tire on a Fuel wheel mounted on it. I have a MAX coupler for my Off Grid trailer. The door will not open - it will not clear the coupler by about 2 inches. Teraflex has confirmed that they know of no after-market adapter for their product that will allow the tire to be raised any higher.
I copy that. Good information for anyone wanting to pull an off-grid trailer. Thanks for posting.
@@finfish260 you could also add the teraflex tire relocation bracket which raises the tire up 2 inches and out 1.35, compatible with this HD hinged carrier. Its what im looking at, i have a JLU and pull the off grid
@@jestervh1 Thanks I will check this out.
