Another Scrawlrbox Unboxing! I really enjoy opening these up and finding out what is inside. Sometimes the art supplies is better than others, but at least this box was jammed pack of stuff. hehe
Also, I apologize for the video. The exposure was off so everything leaves a little blur when it moves. I fixed this for next time. My bad!

Umm.. hello? I don’t usually find myself talking to a box very often, excuse my confusion
I had a [highly-requested] video, I'd been planning for weeks, set to go up today; but last night I realized it wasn't what I wanted it to be. DrawingWiffWaffles , I don't know if you will ever see this, but if you do, I have a question for you. So I have been interested in art for a while, but since I'm only a freshman in high school, I haven't seriously considered it as a career. Anyways, that is beside the point, I am more into realism, but I have really been trying to do animation (or whatever the kind of art you do is called), but I feel like no matter how many times I try, it doesn't improve. I've tried online classes, simple tips from friends, books, but nothing seems to help. Do you have any suggestions? Because I find it very enjoyable, but it's hard to want to continue with it when my pieces are disappointing to me.
I've always seen improvement as a unevenly spaced set of stairs. Some of the steps are long and flat, while others are narrow. While each step is heading in the same direction, it can feel like we've been on the same step for ages. Then, out of nowhere, we reach the next step and we look back and realize we have improved. and then the next step and the next step. I'm trying my best to explain my own journey, but basically. Don't give up just because you aren't seeing the improvement you are looking for. Sometimes it just takes time and something, out of nowhere, just clicks.
Try and focus on one thing to improve. Like noses, or hands. etc. and practice drawing those. Don't get overwhelmed by all of the things you want to improve, but pinpoint it to one thing at a time.
A way to track progress is redraw something you were proud of from the past without looking back at it. then compare them afterwards and see what you've improved and what you've maybe slacked off on. I do this every year and I would 10/10 recommend it!
Don't beat yourself up too hard. Its in our nature to want to improve and thats good that you are focused on that, that will keep you fueled in the future, but don't let it stop you from trying. I'm rooting for you!

I feel like the sketchbook is a bit of a disappointment (but I personally love heavy, thick paper) I think it was great that the coloured pencils and the pens matched though. I like how you drew a guy because they are quite typical 'girly' colours and I know I would have chosen to draw a female character XD
I'm not sure I'd call it a Sketchbook. Its mostly for putting down notes or quick doodles. So its not my preferred sketchbook either. I'm with you. I like my paper thicker than the Earth's crust. haha

Haha, I have those colored pencils. If you noticed, they say name on the side but don’t have an actual color name. So it is now my personal mission to give each and every one of them color names, like lemon fizz, Caribbean waters, and clover! 😂

It's been 2 years but since nobody has explained, the numbering is expensive because it's much much harder to automate numbered pages than non-numbered pages. You have to print and organize the pages in order, which is either more time consuming, uses more machinery, or uses more advanced machinery to do.
So yeh, numbered pages make notebooks more expensive.

Watching your videos has inspired me to give art another go. I literally gave up because I thought ‘I need rly good supplies to be good’ but I know that I am a creative person and I think I need to have a good mindset and not first myself to draw all the time and I can now see how far practice can come. DrawingWiffWaffles Leuchtturm is a notebook brand. I don‘t think that the Jottbook was made to sketch. They do have sketchbooks which are comparable to the Moleskine sketchbooks.

Oo I love those crystal Bic pens I use them in school everyday! The purple is my absolute fav but also like the blue and pink. It's so cool to see them used to create some awesome art when I'm so used to seeing them be used for essays 😂

As soon as those colors came out of the box I instantly thought of a skater boy! And I think the gray shading looks awesome with the pastel colors. Makes me think he sort of lives in grayscale world but chooses to show his colors

ngl it's not a great box this time. Biros and low quality children's colouring pencils, seriously? They cheaped out on this one big time.
Generally if you get one item that's a little pricey (like the Leuchtturm) the other supplies are a bit cheaper. So its not really as big of a cop out as it seems although I feel like perhaps they should've had a fewer amount of pens and made them a little better instead.
@@Thysillia I can see where you're coming from but idk the jottbook is available in a twin pack here in the UK for £6.99 or cheaper, and you only get one of them in this box, so it still doesn't sit right for me tbh 🤷

Barely even pound store tbh, I work in a stationary store and we sell those bic biros for 69p each, and the same brand of pencils 50p each, and when you think about it, the subscription box supplies are more than likely bought wholesale from the suppliers for even cheaper. Pretty egregeous.
I think this box was based on items available in the UK they are all popular items here, that’s probably why the featured artist was also someone from the UK

They are triangled shape to help with children learning the correct or recommended way to hold a pencil as to not apply too much pressure on the hand and fingers. Just a bit of info. :)

Those Bic crystal pens are my favorite pens. I bought a huge pack and use them at work. They come in a few more colors. A lighter pink, 2 greens, and a turquoise. They also have the normal blue, red, and black.

Really liked that one, I'm glad to see you moving out of your comfort zone! Have you used fixative on it afterwards? That's always good on graphite (or charcoal if that comes up) to help prevent smudging
the mouth that is smiling from the the featured art looks so oddly familiar to me. it looks like do kyungsoo's mouth (he's from a KPOP group called EXO).
and through research i have confirmed that that is indeed kyungsoo's eye hahaha the artist is an exo-l.
the rest is probably baekyun's hands, kai's lips and xiumin's mouth hehe. don't mind me, i'm just geeking out here.

Graphite sticks are used more for pencil drawings so you can smudge(shadows n stuff) and do all that good stuff. They are so fun to use because it just feels right. Hope you can find a use for it!

Hey waffles/Rin I was waiting for the next video as soon as I got the notification and I ran to get my sketch book and I tripped on a pencil that I left on the floor but it was worth it then I got back up and sat on the couch and started watch the video and drawing and I felt like nothing happened.
