    Your definitely the best mechanic I've ever seen.
    I could tell right off from the cleanliness of your shop, and your squared away uniform that your the real deal.
    Then i seen you use a dollar store cleaner in place of an engine flush product, with a quart of oil in an engine that has a five quart capacity. Then the knocking started, but i knew that you must know what your doing. I was thinking "oh hell yeah, this guys a genius" and told myself to not worry.
    And then to have the insight and knowledge that you obviously possess. To know that all the debris has been cleared from the pan and pickup tube.
    Again, sir you are the brightest, most knowledgable, educated, and highest trained professional i have ever seen.
    Bravo to you...

    Good video man. I saved my old '89 Jaguar from having a heart attack. I was the 3rd owner and found the motor to be dirty inside. I flushed-out the straight 6 a couple of times with diesel fuel, stopped the tapping noise and improved performance. Never used the Marvel oil though.

      @@crazysexycool180 Hey maybe you can answer this one... I have seen a bunch of videos on here of guys doing engine soaks with marvel mystery oil or seafoam... where they remove the spark plugs and pour the stuff in.... my understanding is that this is to clean out the piston rings... the question is have you or could you try this with totally awesome and do you think it would work? And potential danger in trying this? Thanks I have a 95 saturn sl2 that is burning oil and from what I can tell it might be stuck or clogged rings.

    Had a engine I had to do valve cover gaskets on in the mid 70s. That you could read the letters in the sludge off the covers! I can give you a helpful trick! Put the covers on and fill it with 5 gallons of diesel fuel. Over night. Better if you can warm the engine first. Still need to pull the oil pan but it will come clean easier. Done this many times. You can strain and use it again to flush the engine a few times helps. You can also use the same directions he does in this video! I never used this method but I am sure it works. This guy is without a doubt good at what he does.

      furthermore this person had no money and was gonna scrap the car and start walking. he's elderly and disabled. so i did some charity work and helped a disabled person, my heart could not stand to see him catch another hardship. So for that ill be your fucking idiot.

    Never saw anyone put water-based products into an engine crankcase before. Seems pretty risky. I could see using kerosene or SeaFoam in those quantities. Mixing only 1 quart of oil with several quarts of a water-based de-greaser is a recipe for disaster. IMO

  • @rockypatron8805

    No BS , i have a 2013 Silverado and my wife ran it for over 20 thousand miles without getting the oil changed ( She told me she would take it to the mechanic every 3000 miles) . Well the Engine started knocking really bad and when I finally got back in town to check the oil the engine was bone dry. The check engine light and a bunch of traction control sensor lights on the dash were lit up and my cars check engine light would blink often and the truck would drive and sound like it was on its last leg. I used a 3 quarts oil and one 32oz bottle of awesome to start the first flush. 2nd and 3rd were one quart oil on 32oz awesome. The fourth flush I doubled up on both oil and awesome from the previous flush and when I finally filled the engine up with 5 quarts like and a bottle of marvel, all the censors stopped popping up and the check engine light stopped blinking. The knocking went away as well but the check engine light stayed on. It runs absolutely wonderful now and I've out about 20,000 more miles since then. And just to think, I was on the verge of getting a completely new engine just before I saw this video and attempted this as hail Mary attempt to save my engine. Even when I ran a diagnostic on it before the flush, the scanner said engine was misfiring and that I had a bad cylinder. After the flush the scanner says it's just a sensor now. WOW!!

      Nice thanks for sharing. Personal testimonials carry far more weight than anything else these days in my opinion. For all of the nay sayers, consider this. . . magnesium sulfonates (Epsom Salt) are added to detergent motor oils. Soaps are made to allow a molecule of water to combine with a molecule of fat or oil. Here a few months later, I'd like to hear an update on the car. I'd bet that it is still running just fine considering the amount of miles on the vehicle. I have tried many of the common cleaning solutions, ATF, MMO, Diesel, Kerosene, etc. without any bad affects. This is a new and interesting twist. In the old days, airplanes had oil diluters that pumped fuel into the engine oil for cold weather starting. You'd be surprised how fluid flow and its cooling effect has much to do with lubrication. Thanks.

    • @buckaroobonsi555
      @buckaroobonsi555 6 років тому

      No you do not add solids to an oil all the additives have to be in colloidal form. You can not get Epson Salt to dissolve in oil. Organo-metalic additives are nothing like what 99% of the population think they are. No Saponification is going on in engine oil. You guys need to go to Bob is the oil guy and read all the articles written by Molacue(sp) Rocket Scientist, Tribologist, College Prof. Racer and all around oil geek.

    Well worth doing before and after compression tests, old sludge tends to get behind piston rings etc causing loss of power. I use the BG engine flush, old oil comes out smelling lovely, last vehicle I used it on gained 43% in compression with just a flush, nothing else. I use flush on every service now, as part of the maintenance. Today’s companies are asking too long service intervals for the oil.

    Cranked it a few times with mix no start then I drained it all out put normal thick oil pack in gave it cranks but nothing then I gave it 30 minutes with oil cap off to let oil soak and get through everything then gave it another crank and roar!!! Started up and now my ticking noise is gone!!!!! After I used seafoam it caused a ticking sound now I’m sure it was because it clogged up my oil pick up now that I’ve done this my problems are gone!!!!! Watching/listening to video at work. The engine was knocking loud as hell before the flush. I was looking away when he started it after the flush and only heard it. I had to stop what I was doing & rewind the video a bit because I couldn't believe it was the same car! That engine is running smooth and quiet and all the lifter knock is gone...That is amazing! I don't see a reason the engine should still continue to operate until the owner runs it into the ground. All he did was delay it's execution at the hands of an irresponsible owner!!

    The only issue I see, is LA's Totally Awesome cleaner is super caustic, and can possibly easily disintegrate any plastic and rubber made pieces inside the engine, like seals and gaskets. I would not do this on any vehicle newer than 2002-2003, when almost all the manufacturers switched to plastic and rubber components inside of the engine, in places like the oil pan. Just an FYI. I would take any plastic or rubber compounds found inside, and leave it submerged in the chemical for at least 24hrs, to see if it reacts.

      that "milk chocolate" color isn't nessecceray the "particulate" in the oil, since a similar change in oil color is observed when anti-freeze gets into the oil system from a blown gasket or head.

    • @oddessy2g
      @oddessy2g 6 років тому +2

      It's not left in there long enough to eat at any plastic or rubber.
      Plus it's mixed with oil plus the sludge that would break up.
      The milky look is from the solution and oil mixed.
      Like water or antifreeze/coolent

      No problem, I'm just saying I wouldn't hedge my bets if it's on your only, expensive, relatively "new" car... thats all. Like Hyundai Elantra's from the early 00's their autotrans' HATE anything but their particular trans fluid, and will eat at all the rubber and plastic seals/parts inside the case.

    Walmart oil is crap. When I bought my Dodge truck it had 45,000 miles on it, I immediately changed the oil to Mobil 1 full synthetic, when I hit 75,000 miles I changed to Mobil 1 full synthetic high mileage and I change my oil every 15,000 miles, I now have 130,000 miles and recently had to replace the valve cover gaskets, the valvetrain was immaculate, it looks like an engine with only 30,000 miles.

    Thoughts...
    Wonder whether to use the normal oil weight for this process? Heavier? Thinner?
    Is the drained oil safe OK for the oil recycler?
    Wonder whether to use the Awesome all-purpose cleaner shown or one of the degreaser products they now have.
    I'd consider putting Awesome in a garden sprayer and hosing out the drain pan.
    I converted an old carpet shampooer with no agitation into a wet sucker (by vinyl tubing). I use this to suck extra oil from the drain pan during an oil change. Probably would be useful to clean out the sludge under the valve cover.

    Nissan VG engine... I had a 2001 Xterra that I bought used with 54k on it, same VG33 engine, when I had to do my valve cover gaskets I found it was sludged up pretty bad. Nowhere near as bad as this one, but bad enough. Previous owners did not keep up with maintenance, which is not what I wanted to find out. I always run Mobil One and change at no more than a 5k interval, honestly I think that the only reason that my engine didn't look like this one is that the Mobil One I had been using had been slowly cleaning the sludge out of it. That engine ran good, but always had a bad lifter tick when cold no doubt caused by oil starvation because of the sludge...
    Change your oil folks. Your engine will thank you by lasting a lot longer!!!

    If you even THINK you might be having a sludge problem, or simply have an older vehicle, there are a couple of easier fixes.
    1. Do a couple of oil changes at 2000 miles using a decent synthetic or blend. Synthetics and Syn blends are good for cleaning out crap.
    2. Add a half-quart of Marvel Mystery Oil, or better, Rislone High Mileage Engine treatment from Walmart for $5 at your next oil change.

    Hi AP. I liked this video. I'd appreciate your input on a minor issue I'm having...In Dec. 2015, I bought a 2010 Audi TTS with a mere 48000 kms of mileage. It now just turned over 76000kms I've used the best quality synthetic oils and filters (Amsoil & Mann). The car has run awesome with plenty of power and no odd sounds, smells or exhaust fumes. I'm even getting better than average gas mileage. However, when you open the oil cap, there is some "mocha latte colored goo" on the bottom of the cap and around the hole where you fill the engine with oil. The 2.0 liter FSI engine is known to burn a bit of oil (1 L) between the 16000km oil change intervals. The stealership wants to do an "engine flush" to clean out the inside of the engine. I'm reluctant because I've read of people having major issues after having that done. While I hate seeing that light brownish goo, where the car is running so well, I don't want to push my luck. It seems like whenever I bring my cars to them even for something minor, I end up with a $500+ bill. I've also noticed that the less they touch my cars, the less seems to go wrong with them. (The next closest VW/Audi dealership is a 2.5hrs drive.) What do you think I should do?

      @@grandtheftauto1233 Agreed. Those short trips are usually the cause of this condition (known in the BMW enthusiast community as "BMW mayo"). The oil filler cap is normally the highest point on the engine, and the first to cool down, causing condensation to collect there. Not really a BFD, but if you do a lot of short trips, maybe you should change the oil a little more frequently. The car would also benefit from taking it out on the highway, and driving it at higher revs (like ~ 4000 to 5000 RPMs for a few miles. Once or twice a week would be fine. This is known as "The Italian tune-up" 🙂

    • @blackwaterdogs4256
      @blackwaterdogs4256 11 місяців тому +1

      Addendum to my previous post: A time-honored Old Mechanic`s Trick is to add a quart of ATF (Auto Trans Fluid) to the oil just before performing an oil change, then drive the car normally for a few miles, and drain the old oil while still warm.
      This will remove a LOT of the crud that has built up inside the engine, as well as freeing up sticky lifters, etc.
      Anyone who has ever used ATF to clean their greasy hands after a job will understand the effectiveness of this.

The only potential problem that may occur are any rubber seals being eaten away due to the hydroxy sodiums in the cleaner. But this too is dependent on the motor, the oil to cleaner ratio and time/quantity it is run. Good job.
