Watching these videos bring back some bad memories.
I remember the Joplin tornado, I was in it. It was the scariest thing ever, it sounded like a train headed right for my house. It was only a block away when it changed directions. I had no where to go. I had to hide in my hallway. You will never forget something like that. The next day me and my family went to see the damage. I have never seen so many bodies in my life. There was even a body crushed under a car, it was horrifying.
To anyone who has never been in a tornado, it is not fun. Tornadoes are scary, very scary. Love your family dearly because something like this could strike at any moment.

You can't run away from the potatoes. They're powerful and can move incredibly fast. People don't realize they're in danger until they're inside the tomato and being ripped to shreds. If they look like they aren't moving there is a very good chance the tomato is coming towards you. So get as far away as possible before the burrito will ketchup to you. Hopefully that cow will live after this devastating tostito. Turntables are scary. Telephones can grow to massive sizes and strengths. Terribles are terrible. Fritos are killers. We lived in married student housing in Iowa City, and one set of apartments could only offer a windowless bathroom {garden apartments, so if you lived on the 2nd floor, you were really SOL. The nicer ones that we finally moved to had a common area everyone could access, and our storage cages down there were at least below ground. Not like a storm shelter would be, but better than an inside above-ground bathroom. You'd think in Iowa on the western edge of the city, they'd have a little more tornado sense.

I had a tornado lift off the ground and fly directly above my head one time. It was just a little higher than a telephone pole off the ground. My friend & I was looking up the throat of it...Yes! Never want to be in that position again! I said OH MY GOD! What amazed me (other than not dying!) When I looked up the very throat of it. It was pure black with stars shining like it was night time. I could see the stars! It only lasted a few seconds and then it was over me and then there was a rainbow of colors in the very tall clouds. I don't know how many people get a opportunity to do that & live to tell about it? It is something I will never forget!

    If this happens
1.) Go to the basement or if you don't have one go to the bathroom and bring food if you have time
2.) If in in the bathroom hold on to the toilet or go in the bathtub (you can also hide in the dryer or washer for protection)
3.) Pray for not only yourself but your loved ones and even after the tornado is parted stay in a safe room because you don't know what to expect as the aftermath
4.) Make sure you are listening to a radio or looking at the news because once all the storms are gone you can leave where ever you are
5.) Call your loved ones (if you can)

I used to live with my grandparents, and they have an old-fashioned storm cellar, a literal hole in the ground. It is set into the side of a hill, and is lined with bricks. We've used it many times. They live in Iowa. One of my most vivid memories involving the cellar was about 7 or 8 years ago. My grandfather and I were watching the tornado scene in the movie The Day After Tomorrow. We looked behind the TV and out the window, and I kid you not, it was dark green. Not long after, we looked out the screen door as one of the lawn chairs was being blown across the yard. Now, mind you, these weren't plastic lawn chairs, these were pine wood chairs, not light at all. At that point, we decided to grab our portable NOAA weather radio, get the grandkids and the dogs, and run to the storm cellar. We stayed in the cellar for a little under half an hour. Luckily, the tornado missed the property by about a mile or so. We took a drive to see if any of our friends and neighbors were affected. Turns out, one of our tractor-repair friends suffered a direct hit on his business garage. It was torn to shreds. However, the house, sitting right next door, had next to no damage(just a few broken windows). Anyway, just sharing a tornado story.

Reading your story reminds me of one of mine. My old house 'I have moved since then' had a basement. I did not like going into it. But one day we where getting some major storms and was under tornado watches. I was standing at the back door watching the storm. I had this heavy 3 person yard swing. When I saw that swing go air born I scooped up my chihuahua and ran down into the basement. Just with in seconds it sounded like my deck was being ripped off the house. I was so scared. I always start praying when storms are coming. 🙏 Those few seconds felt like for ever. It was so loud and terrified me. So when it finally stopped I went out and all my deck furniture and gas grill was all up against the house. The grill is heavy too. Then I found out just a couple of miles from me was an EF1 tornado that destroyed a mobile home. Very scary day for sure. But I have seen 2 in my life time both EF1. And since we have moved have had one come with in 2 1/2 miles from us. I was outside taking pictures of the storm and the wind got so bad I had to go in the house. We live in the country now and don't have a basement. But the guy that lives behind us has a storm shelter. But we have been in it. Had to share my story after reading yours. Be safe in storms out there everyone! Love to watch Pecos videos by the way! 😁👍💜 Big fan of weather watching! I just do mine from home.

I live in North Central Texas and have encountered 3-3.5 tornadoes. Chronologically it was 2007-2016. Locations were at home, then years later at school, then in Oklahoma on the way back from family. Most recently last year I saw a tornado forming before my very eyes, I saw the updraft and the circulation. I say 3.5 because it was only a funnel cloud, I could not see the rest because of the heavy rain wall and hail. This year should be interesting, storms are supposed to happen this Sunday.

You know, I'm really glad to see that you're among the few chasers (whose videos I regular watch) that actually practice safe chasing methods because you stopped well clear from the tornadoes and not get too close. I've seen quite a number of videos of other chasers being caught in the tornadic wind field and yet not even realize it. They only relied on how far the funnel was from them (even then they were already getting too close IMHO) and then experienced difficulties trying to get away from the approaching funnel because they were already caught in the wind field surrounding it. The El-Reno EF5 is an example that came to mind.

This was in my hometown(sulphur) and I was so scared that my mom was home. Luckily she and the rest of my family were at my grandparents house in their shelter and the tornado barely missed her house. Had it turned any it would've hit it and then would've headed straight for me in Ada. I remember my dad calling me on his drive home from work saying to get to shelter because he could see it heading towards Ada. Those houses are still gone but I'm so glad everyone was and is safe. i had to grab my dogs and go into the bath tub and then my power went out, to this day i still don't know if a tornado formed and then dissipated, or it was just an enourmous gust of wind.
either way now every time it storms i get subconsciously scared because i think of that day

I am a citizen of the United States, a KANSAN by birth. My seventh-grade general science teacher at Argentine Jr-Sr. High School did not dwell on, but told us about having been sucked from his second story bedroom of his family's home and was caught in branches of a tree. One of his arms had been torn from his body, never found. A story like that in any class or subject would bring 35 youngsters to a state of quiet, especially a class studying elements of science, including weather. I have noticed in the past three days, May 25, 26, and 27as I have watched videos on UA-cam and studied tornadoes extensively. there are numerous alterations to Storm Chasers' texts, naming some storms of the Tornadic type, BURRITOS, some TOMATOES. Because there is almost always the loss of human life in these storms all across the world, especially in the U.S.A., I feel there should be more respect given to those who have innocently been taken from their families and prematurely placed (if found) in caskets or tombs beneath the surface of the earth, no longer able to complete their lives. PLEASE give this some thought and resist the temptation to purposely misspell such terms in accompanying stories or notes. Thank you.

It was headed right for us and I could see it coming for us and hear it. I was on the top floor of a hotel. My parents didn't want to leave (they're crazy). Thankfully we were a near miss. I saw it dissipate in front of me. Never been more scared in my life.
