Footballs is the biggest sport in Europe, Africa, South America, Asia, Oceanía... Meaning it's the most played sport in China, Russia, Brazil, Nigeria ... Massive nations. Also everybody's involved from the big nations down to tiny islands we both probably have never even heard of. It's also a religion there, an entire country stops for a world cup game. I remember when Iceland took part in the European championships more than 92% of the population tuned into their games. National holidays are had, people have been knighted for their performances representing their nation so yeah it's more than massive.
World cup final hit 3.2billion live viewers in the 60s and I'm sure last year's final hit over 2billion to.
1 player I'd recommend you react to is Adama Traore. The guy was and maybe still is one of the fastest people on earth, build like bodybuilder and really skillfull. The guys just a freak of nature, probably could have took park in any sport and made it pro.

THE BIGGEST AND BEST SPORT THERE IS AND HAS BEEN IN THE WORLD (more: fans, people playing, money, ; in most countries in the world it's the number one sport, practically anyone can play, amateur and professional level). It involves a lot of technique, physical and tactical, so that at the same time, the collective and great individuals can overcome any deficiency and guarantee a title or a match. The most unpredictable sport, in which the decision of anyone in the game, INCLUDING THE FAN, can change a game and a championship

Man hass been kicking a ball around since the begining of time but the game we see today and the whole world plays was invented in England. Even King Edward of England banned his Archers from playing he game in 1314 because it was causing to man injuries. Sheffiefd FC in England is the oldest football club in the world, founded in 1857.

Oldest and first Football Club was in Edinburgh, Scotland, recently found financial accounts proved this.
Scotland invented Football as we know it today, The (Glasgow) Queens Park Football Club ammended nearly all the rules (The Glasgow rules) amd this is what we watch/play today, they introduced passing, free-kicks, the crossbar and other rules, Scotland is the home of Football, not England, it was also mainly Scots Engineers who took the game around the World while installing the just newly invented railways, esp in South America.

I kinda agree the culture thing. US actually made a movie called "The Game of their lives." It was set in the 50s, told the story of how the US National team beat the England team. Give it a watch.
I would say England took the charge in expanding the game internationally (Like in the above movie.) Though South Americans is strong af. Even in the 50s. Idk about the war thing but this also could be international relations thing. There's story how football eliminated civil wars etc.
And ngl most football games are boring. I would rather play football for days than watching one 😂 Dang, even watching one would make me itching to play. Its a cerebral game at professional level. The problem came from modern tactics which is possession. Its like seeing someone get waterboard. I suggest watching pro teams that are not possession based for more action. Amateur level? Its basically American Football/Rugby. Rougher tackle, scrappy play etc. If you are anything like me, watch the local amateur/semi-pro games. Its more fun, engaging and more actions.

Football is the biggest sport on the planet bar NONE , 2.3 BILLION people watched the last World Cup final in which,,Leo Messi" the Argentine captain finally became the Greatest and only player in history to win every possible award in the sport.
If you want a comparison the Superbowl final is once a year the same as the UCL final. The Superbowl gets 200+ mil worldwide views (mostly American) , The UCL final gets 600+ million views on its weaker seasons. The WORLD CUP every game has 300+ million views worldwide, is held once every 4 years and the semi finals and final combined whit the 3rd place game get around 7 BILLION views total. That means statistically every person on the planet knows or has heard about the World Champion in football, i myself have no idea which are even the team names that played the Superbowl, i only know that guy Tom Brady.
