- So, this is by no means a very detailed breakdown of the models available and their late model equivalents, but simply a very general overview sprinkled with my opinion. I may do a more detailed video on each segment at a later date, but I often say that and deliver months or years later, so who knows. Free feel to comment and tell me where I went wrong. John Deere's big box tractors to their Signature X300, X500 and X700 series tractors.

I test drove a x758 at the dealer and man that thing is nice. I cannot afford one of them at this time. I have a 67’ 110H RF, 140 h3, 318, 332, 2 420s and a 430 yet would give them all up for a new x758. I also have a 2021 cub cadet Xt2 which is a dealer only model which has a 18hp kawasaki with a 50” fabricated deck and this mows better than any of my old deeres. The fabricated deck is just a beast at mowing and mulching and the airflow it creates i can use it as a leaf blower to by just driving by the leaves since the air coming out the chute is a lot. Maybe when i graduate and have a better paying job ill get a x758
Yeah agreed they are pricey. Before the pandemic, I went a grabbed a 1023E for $13500, tractor, loader and deck, I could not get a X758 for that without the loader, so I own a 1023E now. However, now, without a deck, a 1023E is $18,000 or $19,000, a deck would be over $20,000. No way I could buy one now, I got super lucky. Depending on what people do with them, it may be worth it to look at the 1 series over a X700. There are certainly reasons to still stick with a X7, but lots of reasons to move on. Their are aftermarket front loaders available for this tractor I highly recommend the x758 as much less maintenance.
@@johndenver8574 Yep, a lot of folks like the CTC loaders and they come with a lifetime warranty I believe. If I needed a loader for one of these or an older tractro, I would seriously consider a CTC. The X758 is awesome, but we hardly see any around here, I would bet the majority are sold up north. I've been watching a lot of your videos. I found a GT235 available at a local John Deere dealer. It was cheaper than what's available locally of Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. So I'm planning to go get it tomorrow. Has a 18 HP twin Kawasaki and a K71 transmission. The guys at the dealership were nice. They mentioned a few newer alternatives, but when they looked up the specs on X300 series they admitted the GT235 had better specs. They said you would have to bump up to a X500 series to get comparable transmission.
Exactly, other than normal change of times extras, the GT235 of today is the X570. It has more power than a GT235, but so what, that just means a X570 owner has to use more gas, they both cut the same and that was my first tractor a brand new 2003 GT235 with the Kawasaki, great tractor, my father-in-law still has it and uses it. well the good thing is now they're almost the same price as electric so there's no reason not to comply with Democrat party policy and buy electric instead of gas powered mowers.
@@mrbubetube HAHA, yeah, I guess so, but are you sure, I've seen some of the electric ones go up quite a bit. I did just buy my first electric lawn tool, I got a hedge trimmer. To my surprise, it works pretty good and I don't have a ton of trimming to do, so I only need to charge it once if I do my whole yard. Thanks for watching.

I just don't think anything in the current Deere lineup shown compares to the older 316/318/420/430. The frames aren't even close to as overbuilt today, and you got way more metal for your money, I think. Today's machines are just so filled with plastic everywhere and gimmicky logos and stickers meant to impress people walking by the machine by calling out anything that could be considered a feature, like "hydraulic lift", or "fuel injection". The newer multi-piece fender decks rot at the joints where the older single piece decks couldn't.
I think a lot of this "downgrade" is as much about catering to a less mechanically capable consumer as it is trying to hit a bigger customer base with lower price points. Owner's manuals used to tell you how to set valve lash; now they have to install circuits that keep people from backing over their kids with the deck going.
I completely agree with just going to a 1-series SCUT vs a high x700.

Yeah, I think they aren't as overbuilt as they were, I think that is designed engineering to a certain extent, meaning they realized at one time, they were over built and didn't need to be. But you are right about the focus of quality and them trying to reach a different consumer. Many of these used to be built as capital products as opposed to throw away consumer products. I still think John Deere builds a good product, but if they are not careful, they are close to building stuff in which people will start looking elsewhere for replacements. Back in the day, they didn't have their "consumer lines" like they now sell at HD and Lowes. Yes the company got more sales, but I think these products tarnish their name a bit. I'm a purist too to a certain extent. I mean Porsche used to sell sports cars, now they sell sedans and SUV's, it's just weird. These products I guess allow them to make more money and stay in business, but to me, it waters down the brand a little. Thanks for watching.

I will buy used all day long I picked up a x590 with 100 hours on it looks like new and works like new for 4,500 from a Deere dealer

Some advice from a person who used to work at these dealerships. Write down everything your gonna do with this tractor or zero turn. Ask yourself do I have hills? Do I holes in my yard? How long do I plan on having this? How much maintenance can I do myself? I've seen many people have no clue any of these questions, and end up with the wrong piece of equipment.
Agree with you 100%, these are tools...fun tools, but tools nonetheless, getting the wrong one sucks. Normally people want the expensive ones, but don't want to pay, buy once, cry once as they say.
Im looking at a 595! I think it has a 46 deck, a little small. Has snowblower as well
The X595's came with a 48", 54' and 62" but yes the 48"'s were on the small end once you see it on the tractor, they look pretty small since the X595 is so big. Where are you located? The x575 ,x585 were between x485 and x595
Sort of, the 400 were 2wd and the 500 were 4wd, 65 was an air-cooled engine, 75 was liquid cooled and carb, 85 was EFI and 95 was diesel. they did not have a X565 though, just a X465, very rare tractor. Hope that helps if you were asking me. Thanks for watching.
@FloridaDeere yep I still own a x575 I got in 02 , just had to do a fuel tank swap because of the strainer and x575 is carburetored
Literally anything with "John Deere" Licensed can be ordered from any JD dealer, this can be anything from safes to tools to clothes to toys to phone holders/chargers to battery chargers to extremely rare new model machines & implements, etc etc. Why you don't see select machines at specific dealers is because the dealers only order what they feel will sell and that can vary WIDELY within a few hours of distance; my closest JD dealer doesn't sell many S1's so they only stock 1 or 2 while 45 minutes south in the same chain of JD dealers they stock a heep load but conversely don't have much for Ag machines because they're so close to the city. Every dealer has a specific demographic and you'll only really notice if you watch how many of each machine+attachment they move.
Oh I agree with you on that. I don't know all the in's and out's of how dealers work, but you are right, different dealers through just FL and GA sell completely different products, mine close to me to strong on lawn care equipment and then 2000-5/6000 series larger tractors, but very little actual farm equipment, go to soouth Georgia and it's loads of row croppers and other big style farm equipment. Further north and you get more X7 series garden tractors, something you'll never see at our dealer here in Middleburg, FL. Thanks for watching.

Me too, I have owned WAY too many older Deere, I couldn't even tell you how many I have owned🤣. My wife once said, it would have been cheaper for me to have a girlfriend instead of this tractor hobby as my mid-life crisis.
@@FloridaDeere Just tell her if she thinks tractors are expensive.. go get a private pilot's license. 😅 Imagine $50k and only owning a fraction of an aircraft. 😁
