- Recently KTM invited us to their home turf for a first ride on the all new 2020 KTM SX-E 5. With six different power modes, the SX-E 5 was a slight change of scenery for our mini tester. We cover the features of this bike and the feedback that comes with it. Take a look!

Just bought one today and my 5 year old daughter loves it. I dropped the shock, subframe and tank and she can touch one foot comfortably. Level 2 and she rode a good 3 hours. She loves it and so do I. Super quite easy to ride and killer suspension. I want one for me lol
Wow ! in Level 2 she can ride 3 hours !!! but make a scape to the mountain or Circuit Track .
Thanks !
@@estebanjc1 We ride 5 differnt moto tracks now on level 4 and she can ride about 1-1.5 hours on a full charge. I just bring the Honda 2000 generator and were good to go 40 minutes or so of charging
@@smogchecktech Wowww... great. my son have a oset 12.5, but now i want to continue with electric and the ktm sx-e look fine. level 4 , 1 or1,5 hour it's good. i think it's enough to kids of 4 / 5 yeras old .
thanks Davey.
kind regards
Can you pls give me a link to buy it
Dave’s what’s up I’m looking I to getting the husky version my daughter does track I do single track how well do you think this will do in the hills?
What they need is hot-swap ability with batteries, that way you can buy two batteries, and have one charging all the time. It's expensive, but a good alternative to waiting around for a charge, if you are racing, etc.
Thomas From other reviews I’ve watch there is no need to to a hot swap with the battery. The example they gave is that after a 20min moto they could put it on charge for 15min and the battery would be back to 90% which would be enough to get them through another 20min moto.
Bless you for coming up with an alternative to how poor these battery's are. 20 mins off a full charge is pathetic, they're tryna make us buy 10 spare battery's lmao
Fantastic review. Bike looks great. I’m considering one
It’s a great bike I have one
So far I cannot recommend spending the money on the bike. I have had problems with my 2021 KTM sx-e5 starting with the first day I brought it home. My son and I have now missed two weekends of riding because of some error that keeps revealing itself when we attempt to start the bike. The first time it happened we returned it to the dealer which took them a couple of days to fix. Almost 4 hours of driving to get it back home with the hope and promise that the problem was corrected. From there, we had two solid days on the bike with no issues. Third time out however, bike would not start and gave me the same beeping error as before. I do not know what the dealers nor KTM’s response to this problem is going to be yet however, the lost time riding with my son and the disappointment that comes with not being able to ride on weekends you had planned to is not what we expected or bargained for.
Any updates?
Bike has worked flawlessly since the dealer made whatever adjustment that needed to be made. My son loves the bike!
@@robertdolman3670 do you use a generator to recharge at the track? If so, what size? I can’t find any info online for geni size on ktm, husky or gasgas version of this bike
Nice review. The brakes are great too. My son loves his.
would this bike be good for a pit bike for me i am 5’8 and 120 pound. also what is the top speed on this thing
@@Shortyzworldtv I would say your weight would cause you to loose some torque. But I keep hearing this isn’t a bad pit bike. You may miss your 4 stroke. The other drawback is it’s insanely expensive and you could probably get a peppy pit bike for a lot less. Good luck!👍
Rest in peace, Alta 😭.
Yeah Altas were the best
Huh
I want my kids to love gas not batteries I’ll keep my Yamahas for them
Kinda expensive for what it is. The full size eride was only a few thousand more with 4 times the performance.
“Only a few thousand more”
Does the power delivery stay consistent as it heats up and hits lower battery levels?
It’s a cool bike, just can’t find any dealer in California that has one.
Yeah, that is what we've heard from KTM. Basically, they've ordered as many as they could from the factory but they'll get a bigger wave of bikes next year.
jak p we’ve got one all the way in Springfield Oregon and so far no ones interested in buying
@@stratten455 for that price you need to wish people win the lottery to start buying them 6k hahaha joke!! get 2 very good ktm 50s for that price
my kid doesn't ride for 10 minutes...my 93 year old grandmother might thou.
Will they be making a bigger version that fits kids 8-14 years old?
How do I recharge this at a race track? How do I recharge this all day when my young bloke does 4 hours of riding?
Jaye Young You would probably have to get a small generator. That is what I believe is the biggest downside with the bike. A small generator is around 200-300 dollars and gas is super cheap. It is better than buying all the gas for a 2-stroke mini (definitely if you run race gas) and you wouldn’t have as much maintenance as a gas mini like buying new top-ends and clutches and oil.
A Honda whisper would be a good investment.
You need a generator. But every time he comes in for water or a break, plug it in immediately. It charges pretty quickly when it is just topping off the battery, rather than charging all the way from empty.
I would buy this and make it into a mini motard for street use
Will it pitbike though?
What's his height and weight?
My local dealer wants $6,000.
Nuts mate sur rons are better and 2 grand cheaper or even the oset mx10 bikes £2500,,,!!!ktm electric bikes suck way over priced
W h e n i s m a s o n g e t t i n g a 6 5
Love the vids
Where do you get it
How much kwats is the motor
I'm a 2 stroke guy but I'm getting excited about these bikes ! Spesh with my granson just turning 5 !
5k honnestly 🧐
@@Emtbwebb no I'd buy a second hand one in a yr or so haha he's ok on his pw50 at min . although I'd like to move him up to the KTM 50 sx
What are the speeds associated with each mode?
Nice bike but they gotta do better with how long a full charge will last.. 20 mins thats just a piss take really not even enough time to go anywhere proper on it. From high end like ktm they should be doing better.
Can I race it in the 85 class
50cc harga... / 65cc harga ... / 85cc harga
With this E 50 KTM has the opportunity to undo a solid decade of pissing off MX parents with their shitty 50sx. The KTM 50sx is atrocious in the reliability and maintenance department and has been for decades.
5K ? are they crazy ? Its no wonder why racing is in its death throws.
These e bikes don't make sense. Everyone is trying sell these but for the cost they can never compare.
Need to turn off music when when you talk over takes you.
It’s actually surprisingly loud for electric 🤨
I think thats good. I think they should make the electric sound as loud as they can so its not just awkwardly silence
@@cameronbarrett8862 the biggest benefit in electric over ICE (to me at least) is the fact I could ride without noise complaints, meaning I could ride infinitely more places. 4 strokes made the problem of noise even worse when they came along as even some tracks near me were shut down because the 4 stroke bikes were so loud. The potential for trail riding is almost non-existent. I really hope electric bikes can be silent (brushless motors) as it would allow me to get back into riding - no long journeys (3hrs!) to a riding spot, trailers/vans or the potential for complaints. It’s really why bikes like the Sur Ron are tempting a lot of people away from full mx bikes in my country.
This is good but 2 strokes are still better for their value and mileage per gas tank. (Talking about kids bikes)
Can I get that I'm only 5 an my brothers have a dirt bike an there 10 an 12
Get ricky carmichael to rip it next time lol
Handyman
$5500 for that is ridiculous
Tell the truth sucking up KTMs bullcrap
Explain?
