The original soundtrack to this movie is just incredible. John Carpenter really nailed the music for his 80's flicks. This one has been stuck in my head lately. I also just got a new POD HD500 and wanted to test out what it can do. All of the guitars and bass on this song were recorded direct from that with very little post-processing. Also, this was arranged/recorded/mixed in about five hours, so it was kind of an experiment. WHATEVER! ENJOY!!!

This Theme tune was made to have an 80's metal version. Also Snake Plissken is without a doubt the coolest action hero ever created.

_Escape from New York_ was simply a documentary from an alternative timeline. He just travelled into a time machine to get there, and he came back and changed history. So he indeed was ahead of his time.

I like how this is sort of a mix between the original Escape from NY version and the Escape from LA version. The only change I would make would be to keep the bassline synth and the drums low-key at the beginning, then go full-on metal when the main riff kicks in (about 0:33), instead of starting at 100; if you have the stems handy, I'd actually be happy to mock this up for you in Ableton and show you what I mean.
If my life had a theme song, this would be it. Awesome.

I came here from a video on Soviet Tanks which has this song as background music. Just as the main guitar riffs kick off, they show a Marshal of the Soviet union rolling up in an open top UAZ 469 and being saluted by a Lieutenant General of the red army in front of a literally endless row of tanks massed for EX ZAPAD 1981. ITS INCREDIBLE.

The creator of the franchise was a fan of the film and made Snake resemble Snake Pliskin explicitly. The mullet, the eyepatch, and the name. The fact Revolver Ocelot gives you John Carpenter vibes comes as no surprise.

Esuba Hi! Thanks for the comment. Yeah, the original is exceptional in how emotional it is with relatively little in terms of instrumentation. I wanted to try something different with this interpretation, but no cover will ever be as great as the original. :-)
