3D Printed Tomos 'Egg' Headlight with Speedometer

- Buying parts is cool, but 3D printing them is cooler! This is a test version of my 3D printed headlight shell for Tomos A35/A3. Printed in PLA, 0.2mm layer height, 0.4mm nozzle and 20% infill. Depending on the material, a coating may be required. I am using raw material without a coating because I am curious how well it could withstand different types of weather. With paint applied, it is protected against weather influences and it will last a long time. Thought it would be interesting to see if cheap 3D printed parts will work just as good as original parts. Update one year later:
My moped has been outside for a year and still the headlight from PLA plastic looks like new. So for parts that doesn't take a lot of mechanical stresses, I'd say PLA works great!

Very cool! I just picked up a Tomos with a cracked headlight/ speedo mount. Can you please share the STL file on thingiverse or email it???
Even een kleine tip, PLA is niet top voor buiten, het zal niet gelijk met 1 regen bui weg zijn. Maar reken er maar op dat het er na 3 maanden slecht aan toe is. Misschien kan je er een coating op doen dat het langer goed blijft...
klopt, pla is niet de beste optie in dit geval en een laagje verf zou zeker beter zijn en natuurlijk mooier, maar ik was juist benieuwd hoe pla verweert over zon lange tijd. soort experimentje dus. van de zomer nog eentje maken van of pla of petg en dan mooi afwerken!

@@avancefarter2 heb precies hetzelfde. uiteindelijk wil ik dat iets werkt en dat duurt dan 3x zo lang omdat t een paar keer fout gaat maar zo is t nou eenmaal. je leert ervan
