Thanks for the hint at 3:37! My machine was leaking and I identified that valve as the reason. Replaced it and the machine was still leaking. I already prepared to throw it away and then remembered that someone in some video mentioned that O-ring. So I got the broken valve out of the trash, used the old O-ring and everything is fine now. The last thing to do was to find that video again to say thanks :)
Thanks Eric! Congratulations and thanks for your video. I found it very useful. I have the same machine, having a serious problem after descaling it. Scaling inside was serious, so I take the boiler apart and clean everything with Oxalic Acid. Thanks again for sharing. Pablo
I have the same machine, trouble with the pump which i solve and a dripping from the steam valve which i am about to replace. If i may add something is that i did unscrew those with a small and thin screwdriver for watches, those cheap ones. These are screwed on plastic so not too tight. Sure its better to have the exact tool. The most troubling in this machine is to take out the pump. Anyway good machine for about 85€ ,its about ten years and about two coffees per day,so its worth the money and the coffe it makes is fair enough. Nice video
@@MrEdlindner I cant upload here but its easy. The valve is screwed on the boiler. You just unscrew it,you open the 4 screws of the boiler because the nut is in the inside and you replace it. Send me if you have any problems or questions
Hi Eric. Could you tell me how you were able to take off the knob on top. I have removed the 4 screws but the knob after unscrewing seems to be stuck. Did you have to break something there, to be able to remove it.
Eric a fantastic video thanks very much. I have a Delonghi EC820B & mine has just started to loose power on the steam but I noticed that there’s an overflow from this fitting that is passing water & leaking all over my worktop. I understand this part is the vibratory pump safety valve & I am just double checking that this is faulty & that it’s not passing water because it’s doing it’s job as a safety valve. I’m pretty confident this has worn/gone faulty & that this may be a common failure on these machines. Are you able to confirm this ? Kind Regards Tim in the UK.
Hi Tim. Thanks for your commendation. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the overflow safety valve. But I wouldn't be surprised if it's worn and needs replaced. It was really easy for me to order a replacement part and hopefully that will be the same for you and it will fix your problem. Regards, Eric from across the pond!
Eric Lindner thanks Eric it was that part you replaced that is the safety valve for the vibratory pump I’ve located one on ebay £5.25 part number 1331045 I’m going to order it. I think it might be a common issue although I’ve not done too bad after 6 years plenty of use. Thanks for your swift reply, I’ll let you know if it sorts it. Kind regards. Tim.
Hi Erik, I have a problem with the same macchine. It is loosing water from the top, anyways I didn't understand how disassemble the steam tap. I saw you disassemble it Completely, can you explain me how to do it?
Hi Elisabetta, Sorry for the late response but I'm not too sure if I can explain much better than I did on the video. I used the Torx Screwdriver Bit Hex Security size T20 to unscrew the 4 screws that hold the cover in place. Then I had to pull the steam knob off. You can do that by lifting it straight off. I hope this helps and gets you on your way.
Hi Eric, I think I got same problem as Tim , I ran descaler through my machine an then it broke mine is a delonghi EC145 an it looks like same parts inside as yours so I am ordering the same part safety valve now its £5.45 on ebay am hoping its gonna work , interestingly when i took pipe off an drained the boiler a LOT of scale could be seen so maybe its blocking the system? may blow another safety valve , have to wait an see! Great vid :)

That's great news! Thanks for taking the time to post a thank you!

Pro tip: everything here applies also to the EC155, which is really the exact same machine in an older style of plastic case.
Delonghi EC221B - Exactly the same

Let me know how the steam valve replacement goes. Maybe a video? I have to do the same thing. Good machine though! Thanks for your comment!

Good video shame you missed the removal of safety valve

Hi, all I had to do was pull it straight up and it slides off, nothing to break. Maybe yours is a little sticky but I hope this helps!

Thanks Russ, hope it works for you!
