Couldnt desagree more with you when you say Dossena tried too hard. This is the most referential to early JPG's work since they started those collabs. Gaultier used to show the collections in galleries and theaters in Paris. It was definitively less bourgeois and serious. It has this popular Paris flavour, with the spontanious mix and match of fabrics and items, and parisian sounds captured in the streets. Plus the seats of the audience were also very close to the models. Having Laetitia Casta modeling is a direct tribute to one of her first shows for Summer 1994 JPG, when she wore the same headpiece and ringnose bijou

Some of the looks were a bit hit-and-miss which you would expect, however the lighting, claustrophobic location and (lack of) music - which are all important elements - made the event much less impressive than expected.

this collabs are better when they feel effortless, Glenn Martens and Haider Ackerman are the prime examples. This one feels unbalanced and contribed, very Julien (not even Paco) and the "moody" feel in the staging doesn't help at all, it was gloomy and dark even with all those shinny textiles and materials
