  • Hey y'all! Because I live in Germany, and have lived here for 5 years, I have learned some of the quirks of Germany and how it is different from America. In this video, my friend Esther and I talk about what life is actually like in Germany for highschoolers. Moving to Germany can be tough so here's some tips of what to expect with the reality of living in Germany.
edit: Germans do NOT actually shoot dogs.

In Rome as the Romans do. „Bio“ in Germany is pronounced differently than in America.

Yes, the Americans, everything must be the same as in the United States. They are also the navel of the world. Other culture different customs.

    Nice Vid 🙂
But I have to correct u ( and it's a typical thing for Germans to correct others😉) there is a salery tax, called Mehrwertsteuer. It's 8% for daily goods and 19% for luxury goods. But it's included in the offered price.
Second, there is no law, that allows dogs just to bark 30 min a day, this was a funny decision of a court in some specific case 🙃
Yeah, it's true that lot of elderly people looks or are grumpy... The are old and have lot of deseases 😉 And lot of the young people move to bigger towns, for studying or working.
There are so many stereotypes about Germans and also about Americans.. One of them is, that Germans are starring... I guess it's cuz, we germans are courios or that someone doing something uncommon for Germans.
An other typical stereotype I heard a lot about germans, is that we are harsh or cold.
I guess it's, cuz germans don't bubbling around and say what the think more directly like other people from other countries. That's just a thing of missunderstanding. When a German told u, that ur great... So u r great. And if he told u, that u are doing something wrong, then u are doing something wrong. It's not a personal thing or criticism.. It more like a professional advice🙂

Driving manually driven cars is normal in the country of Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel

About the quiet times.. actually you can call the police if someone is really loud after 10 PM continuosly. The german word for that offense is Ruhestörung. The police will then show up at that persons door and tell them to be more quiet.

Driving in Germany: You can get your driver's license with 17 and you may drive then BUT an adult has to sit beside you. That is meant for you to learn driving and still always have somebody with you who keeps you from speeding.

It is funny that Americans immediatelly want to start a fight, when someone stares at them. You must be an aggressive bunch of people. We only want to watch, what is wrong with it?

It is just different compared to America. It’s not “wrong” :)

14:23 Of course there are sales tax in Germany, now 16% or 7%!

They seem not to recognize them, because in the USA you have to add them on top of the labeled price.

@Kessina1989 Sorry you are wrong. Up to the end of the year 2020 (because of corona) the tax rates are reduced to 5% for food and 16% for the rest. The normal rates are 7% and 19%. And by law alle prices you see on tags have to include the sales tax. You never have to add by yourself any sales tax. The price you see is the price you pay.

In Australia sales tax is already included in the price. So no nasty surprises at the checkout. 😊

So I have something all like to give and nobody to take, advice. Wash your hair before vlog, so that you are comfortable with it. Next, train to keep your hand out of your face, it looks super nervous and is super nervous. It is perfectly ok to talk a lot with the hands, as you do, but keep them away from your face and keep them away from your hair unless you are flirting to s.o. special - real. No, no offence intended!!!
What I really like is your skipping of make up and your short fingernails. Love that - very European and very natural.
Only energy, water, gasoline, electricity and hausing in some areas is expensive here. Grocery bill is just the halve compared to US and of better quality.
