I don't know where that was but in my state you don't have to stop going to opposite direction on a four lane road. It's actually illegal for the school bus to stop and allow students to cross a 4 lane road. That road had 4 lanes.

@@SwankyColt The rules are the rules, whatever. But students surely should not cross where there is no pedestrian crossing. So it is more for students who will rush across the road regardless
Most states do not. That clip was from Georgia. Ohio only requires 4 lanes. Other states require either a center median or a turning lane.
It depends on the states. In Idaho, it's not allowed for kids to cross the road if it's a 4 lane road. They have to wait for the bus to turn around and get to almost the exact same spot and let them off on the other side.
As a result cars don't need to stop at 4 lane roads for buses.

Years ago I was in a motorcycle accident where some kid came off an offramp onto the street and immediately decided to make a u-turn, which cut me off completely. I hit his driver's side door and flipped over his hood .... the idiot continued rolling the car until the driver's side front tire came to rest in the small of my back. I immediately lost consciousness. VERY luckily, a police officer was coming along in the opposite lane at the exact time of the accident, and stopped. Thanks to his quick thinking, he jacked up the car and pulled me from underneath. I would have suffocated if not for him. That's why I get furniture-throwing mad when one of these neo-libs starts their screaming about defunding the police.
Couple months ago a person in a dodge truck thought it was a good idea to skip from a straight lane to take a left turn on a cross section while that left turn lane had a red light and to speed away. There was police 1~2 car behind him in the other lane that went after him.

3:22 same thing happened back in tangent when I rode route 23 and someone ran the stop sign and a cop car that was a few cars behind my bus made a u turn and quickly pulled them over and just recently a red vw golf went flying around the bus and two sheriffs quickly pulled him over and from what I can tell that golf was street racing someone at the wrong time 😂

This was crazy. In uk if light is red, it’s red. No sneaky right turn allowed, but ... there are not that many uk cop drivers about to notice as they’re too busy doing paperwork! Uk karma stops are definitely not on the same scale as US karma stops. In the UK the police rely a lot on people snitching on fellow drivers. Which is fine by me too.

Same here in Cali. You can make a right turn on red...arrow or otherwise, unless there is a sign that says you can't. Pretty straightforward even if I have spaced the sign and made the red turn. Fortunately I didn't live here long before I realized it was there.

For an undivided road both sides need to stop.

as a non-american I just can't understand the logic of needing to stop, we've school bus here but they just work like any regular bus, no specific law forcing you to stop.

@@kalzhae The law was designed for rural areas where there is no dedicated crosswalks for miles around and the bus would need to go to kid's houses directly. In such a case, if the drop off point is on the opposite side of the road (buses can't easily pull a U-Turn), then the stopped bus becomes a defacto crosswalk for the kids to safely cross the road. Busses that have to drop off on highways for similar reasons operate on similar premises.
