- I decided that Sunday was going to be work in the tank day. The protein skimmer was due for a full cleaning, the algae turf scrubber needed to be stripped of algae, and while I had the acid bath going, I put all the Vortech wetsides in that solution too. I have extras at the ready, so they were installed while the dirty ones soaked so the reef maintained normal flow.

Great to see this now Marc--Currently going thru vermetid cleaning hell and it made me feel better to watch this. My manifold was packed with the little buggers--it looked like someone's clogged aorta!

Do you think having too clean of a sump is bad? I clean mine almost spotless every Sunday.
Not at all. The vessel can be clean. The gear does the filtration.
Have you tried using milliard citric acid? Using two tubs of sicce pump clean is costly
I have but I have to use the whole bag for 12 gallons. It’s pretty much as wash.
How do you deal with vermitids in your main display?
Wow! Huge vermatids! Remind me. What do they do to your system?
They throw out webs that irritate neighboring corals, and some corals don't survive their impact. Just ugly things. I didn't mind one or two, but I have quite a few these days.
